3 out of 5 eggsPretty Good Hardware

Pros: Completely quiet, and seems to be running fine with the updated ATI drivers.

Cons: The drivers that came on the CD made my system unstable. I tried their automatic update tool and it downloaded the updated ones from Asia. They weren't much better. Despite the warnings to only use their own drivers, download them directly from ATI instead. Those are the only ones that didn't cause me trouble.

The rebate system seems determined to make you mess-up. I apparently completed everything correctly, but believe them when they say "Allow 8-10 weeks, after Rebate Promotion POSTMARK Date Ends, for processing."

Other Thoughts: As others have indicated, the big heat sink means this won't fit into a compact chassis, and a mid-size chassis might have trouble with fit or cooling. It fit just fine into my mini-tower.

Note that if you can't or don't want to use the audio functionality in this card, prevent a conflict by disabling it in Device Manager and not installing the card's audio drivers.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well for my purposes

Pros: In a quiet case with good airflow it averages around 44-46c core temperature in 2d apps, only got up to about 59c when running 3d benches to test it. More than adequate for dual display audio and video editing while staying dead silent & not heating up my rig too much.

Cons: I could not use it with my Reapers due to their height, but 'normal' height RAM like my OCZ Platinum clears just fine with some airflow space left.

Other Thoughts: I will probably put this in my HTPC soon - it appears to have plenty of muscle for that usage and came with the HDMI adapter in addition to component + s-video outputs for my 'transitional' home theater.

4 out of 5 eggsSilent and good performance

Pros: This is a great video card for an HTPC or a computer in which a lot of video (mpegs, divx, etc.) is played on. It has good performance and can handle most games decently. It is completely silent with its passive heat sink. Price is right after rebate.

Cons: The heat sink is HUGE!!! Make sure that it will fit your case. If you have a Dell with a BTX motherboard watch out since the heat sink will intrude into two of your PCI of PCIe ports next to the video card. The card gets HOT!!! The heat sink and heat pipes get scorching hot. Because of this the GPU runs hot at idle (~65 C) and you are not able to overclock it at all. The ATI overclock utility immediately quits because of the high GPU core temperature.

4 out of 5 eggsits HUGE!

Pros: HDMI with audio, great 1080p playback, price.

Cons: its HUGE! it wouldn't even fit my case, the heat sink is enormous.

Other Thoughts: After selling the Witcher bonus game that was included and after mail in rebate I should end up paying only ten dollars for the card :).

5 out of 5 eggsGood upgrade for me

Pros: This card is a huge upgrade for me over onboard video so of course everything runs better. It runs Sims2 on all high settings no problem and it came with a free game.

Cons: The card doesn't really fit all the way down into my PCI slot. It's almost there but the clip just won't close. It's not much of an issue, probably my motherboard's fault.

Other Thoughts: This card is sooooo HUUUUGE!!! It barely fits in my case. It's about half an inch from hitting both my ram and the side panel.

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet, Hot VGA card

Pros: Use it for a HTPC. Convenient HDMI output via adapter. Works well after easy installation. (I use the drvier from AMD-ATI directly, because I'm using XP x64). Zero nosie maker. The quality of image is good when I use my 2408WFP and Philips 47-inch 1080p simultaneously. The rebate and discount of Newegg make the deal sweeter.

Cons: 1. It's hot. When I touch the heatsink, it feels like more than 150F, even when idle. Maybe the temeprature is OK to the card itself, I'm a little worried about the components close to it, like the memory.
2. the heatsink is huge. it occupies 2 slots. While it's not MSI's fault. It's just the trade-off. Passive heatsink = huge heatsink.

Other Thoughts: The card is good if you want a quiet HTPC. Maybe you can find a card with cooler heatsink, while you should pay more. The ATI uses the built-in audio to realize HDMI. It is a good idea. Actually you get a VGA+Audio card. However, some people report that they can only get stereo rather than 5.1 channel output through the HDMI. I don't have time to verify it yet. Another concern is that the HDMI audio would always ban other audio devices, such as the built-in 8.1 audio on my mobo. I can not switch back to the 8.1 audio (Yes, there is an option under the volume control, while it never works), so I can not get any output to my headset unless I disable the ATI audio device manually. It's some annoying. I guess the SPDIF tech coming with some NVIDA card would be more convinent.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Card

Pros: Works well with my MB.
With the large fanless heatsink, It has never gotten over 26C @ full load. The next test is to see how it performs fully OC'ed. Thanks to MSI for adding The OC feature to the to The CCC. I belive this card performs better than any card I owned.

Cons: The size of that heatsink...

Other Thoughts: Have yet to try crossfiring two of these, but looking @ those heatsinks....This may present a problem, space wise.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate - vid drivers not at fault

Pros: In my initial review, I blamed the video drivers for my machine's instability, based on past history and behavior. It turns out I had two bad memory sticks. With those replaced, everything is solid. I can now recommend this card with no reservations.

Cons: Large fins, but you can tell that from looking at it.

Other Thoughts: I have two in the machine, and the second runs about 10 deg/C hotter than the first (~49 vs ~39). It's also only running one monitor, rather than two. My guess is that it's an airflow/case-location issue as the first card is next to the CPU cooler fan.

5 out of 5 eggsSilent card with good performance

Pros: Good price and performance, totally silent cooler, low power requirement.

Cons: As others have said, the silent heatsink is rather large... but it keeps it very cool. This is not really a con, but make sure you have room in your case.

Other Thoughts: This is a wonderful video card!! Paired with a dual core Athlon64 4200+ and 1 GB of memory, it got the following scores: 3DMark03 - 12,730... 3DMark05 - 9,191... 3DMark06 - 4,460. It will handle all the games currently on the market, but may need to run at lower settings for some of the more demanding games. The card seems to run very cool as long as your case have decent airflow. With the ability to relieve the CPU load when playing HD movies, this card will be useful for many years.

3 out of 5 eggsDon't count on rebate

Pros: Works well. Get the drivers from AMD directly.

Cons: The card is BIG. But I had no problem fitting it in 2 of my machines with different motherboards.

Other Thoughts: MSI rebate policy is terrible. Don't count on their rebates.
After contacting them since I have had any response in months, they claimed the rebate was received and rejected (no notification) due to some obscure error but refuse to accept resubmissions. The submission was correct.
