5 out of 5 eggsGood card

Pros: Works well, runs cool, can barely hear the fan when it's running 100%. Good value for the money

Cons: I'm still waiting for my rebate to come that I mailed in JUNE!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Quiet Card

Pros: This card has done more than I could have asked, especially with my 24" monitor running 1900x1200. I though certain games would not be good at that resolution, but I've been able to run things like Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, and Mass Effect. Also you wouldn't believe how well I can run Plants Vs Zombies! I just bought a second to crossfire, so we'll see how that works, but now for less than 90 bucks each, it should be an incredible upgrade! Also, when you utilize the Catalyst Control Center, or other aftermarket tools, you can get solid fan control to keep this thing running nearly silent, and the temps are always low. I idle at 42C and when running games it only gets into the mid-50s. I don't know why more card manufacturers don't work to make silent coolers that are this effective.

Cons: Can't think of too many bad things to say, but we'll see once I am done with my crossfire experience.

Other Thoughts: I don't want to list this as a con, because it's against the warranty conditions, but this card didn't overclock well! But I see they've added some extra power supply stability nubs on the card, which mine doesn't have, so perhaps that will make it a better overclocker.

1 out of 5 eggsFreezes up randomly

Pros: Can't give any because I haven't been able to run any games with it.

Cons: Freezes at an idle Windows Explorer desktop. Freezes faster if you run the ATI control panel or sysinfo. It generally behaves itself until dual-screens are set up.

This is on a stock/re-imaged Lenovo desktop system that ran my old GeForce 8600GT without any problems at all.

This video card is the only card installed - everything else is integral. I tried the MSI drivers and the ATI drivers.

Other Thoughts: MSI support website has a long long LONG form that takes forever to load and fill out. Once all that information is typed in, the server hangs. Tried this with IE and FireFox - the same system that browses this page fast as I type in this review (on a different system, of course).

It is frustrating to have to jump through all of those website hoops just to the web page crash on you many times. I'm returning this to NewEgg because even the AUTOMATED MSI tech support system is unworkable.

The FAQs on the MSI site are not meant to troubleshoot video cards.

Oh yea, and the fan is loud too.

4 out of 5 eggsGood card

Pros: Card runs great idles at 37c and at 47c at load with my setup. Very good mid-range card but for the ultra high end graphics you might need more power.

Cons: Ran 3Dmark vantage at full 1080p and got around 10fps. bought card back in 3/25/09 and still wait on mail-in rebate

Other Thoughts: Runs on
Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz
MSI X58 Platinum SLI LGA 1366
MSI R4850-512M OC Radeon HD
OCZ Platinum 3GB (3 x 1GB) DDR3
Antec Nine Hundred Mid Tower Case
Seagate Barracuda 500GB HDD (plan on buying to SSD's and run in raid 0)

5 out of 5 eggsI like it

Pros: Good performance for the money.
Sweet looking heat sink.
Can shave with the fan blades.

Cons: It is loud.
It is huge.
It cut my face.

Other Thoughts: I have no idea what people are talking about when they say they can't control the fan speed. It can be manually set in catalyst or left to auto control itself based on the heat it is generating.

So far it has ran everything I have thrown at it in 1280x1024 res with max settings. This includes Bioshock, Warhammer Online, Chronicles of Riddick, Mass Effect, Crysis, Fallout 3, and Plants vs Zombies.

For $100 you really can't beat it.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat card- MSI scam

Pros: I have been running this card for several months; fast, able to handle all my games.

Cons: MSI rebates are nothing but a scam; my friend and I bought identical systems, filled out the rebate forms and sent them in- they claimed they never received them. Both of us mailed separately; I know there was nothing wrong with the address or postage; since I work for the USPS and am aware of what not to do, to avoid damage during USPS processing. The odds of the USPS screwing up both our mailings- Zero.

4 out of 5 eggsNice card

Pros: Fast, cool, stable. The fat copper heat pipes make this thing look cool too. Plays CRISIS on high no problems at all, I've played CRISIS, ASSASSINS CREED, and GTA IV no problem at all on stock settings.

Cons: It is pretty massive, but something this capable isn't going to be small. It takes up two slots, but this actually helps in the Coolermaster screwless case I have so I can't really complain.

1 out of 5 eggsGood if not RMA

Pros: Runs very cool and quiet and fast.

Cons: Hope you never have to RMA the card. Love the card, but will never order an MSI product again.

- read below.

Other Thoughts: Had the non-oc version of this card. Have to say that I loved the card. Ran everything that I played on it at max, at 1280x1024. Never went over 43c at 50% fan speed.
But, the card died on me. Had to RMA it back MSI. Had no trouble with sending it back or getting a different one. The one that they sent me though, wasn't the same. They sent me a card that has a single slot cooler, runs a lot hotter, has lower performance and the thing looks like it was a test model. The connections look like they've had cables plug and un-plug many, many times. The graphics on the fan shroud are worn off a bit and the back plate was bent when I got it.
Called the RMA department about it. Was told that that card is an upgrade to the one I had. And wasn't interested to what I had to say about the card.
I would think that if you send a card for repair, then you should get the same back. Or if not available, then something that is better, not worse.

4 out of 5 eggsNOT BAD

Pros: This card runs very cool i never go over 45c even under load and has played every game that i have tried with it so far.

Cons: i went from a ati 2600 xt to this and on wow and under load with the settings all the way up i have a 20 fps increase at most sometimes only 10fps higher than before.

Other Thoughts: cost a lil to much for what you get.
