1 out of 5 eggsjunk

Pros: worked great - at first

Cons: one month of ownership = BSOD due to infinite loop of ati2dvag.

Other Thoughts: Uninstalled via safemode, updated driver from MSI, still a no go. Heck, this review is being written from safe mode. Tried tech support from MSI - a complete joke. Wait 24hours for confirmation of request submitted! W T F? RMA requested through NewEgg. Apparently the BSOD is a common occurance with the ati based boards and no one wants to address. Its garbage. I should've bought a stable Dell computer than building one for intensive autocad work. Never again. What happened to reliable parts manufacturers???

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Idles for me at ~38C. Have rarely seen it up or above 50C.

Can OC fairly well! Got artifacts around 1100 for memory and 750-800 for core. Can't remember exacts.

Can run L4D on MAX, FSAA 8x and AFx16. Beautiful. ~55 fps avg. Even during action.

Cons: It's not a 4890 or 4870x2?

Other Thoughts: Went from a HD3850 to this. Love it :P

I crash after new patch of L4D with FSAA 8x... So if you're crashing with no messages. That may be the problem!

5 out of 5 eggsWhere the hell is my rebate?

Pros: I sent out to MSI for the rebate in the middle of May.
It it now the middle of July. There has been no confirmation call/email that they received it. It's probably sitting under someones rump with a coffee stain on it. Who knows. Maybe by the time I get it back, the $20 won't be worth the $20 it was, back in May of 2009.

Cons: SLOW REBATE

5 out of 5 eggsThe best VGA under 100 bucks

Pros: Runs like a charm. Detected and worked on the first boot. Very silent fan and heat should not exceed 40 degrees. Not too big.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Runs WoW on Ultra settings at a good fps rate.

5 out of 5 eggsBest bang 4 da bucks

Pros: Everything went smoothly, firmware and MB bios updated easily via MSI programs. Graphics surpassed the 9800GT it replaced. Good deal from my #1 Supplier....Thank you NEWEGG

Cons: None as of this posting

Other Thoughts: Look at photos to see what comes with card, don't assume you will get a dvi/hdmi adapter......you wont!!

2 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Probably would have been a solid card, the 4830's post some good numbers on benchmarks.

Cons: Looked fine, packaging not damaged, installed, no 3d apps, no aero apps, no open GL. Basic display stuff only. Used MSI disk and update, then uninstalled and used catalyst 9.6 and 9.5 from ATI directly, no joy.

Other Thoughts: Past RMA because I bought my components a couple at a time and I caught this one on sale awhile back. Doubt MSI is going to help me at all.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat value - fast board

Pros: Fast & quiet.
3DMark06 = 11,800 on a system with an overclocked Core 2 Duo e8400 @3.7 GHz. 4 GB memory. Gigabyte ga-ep45 mother board.

Cons: It is a very long board. It barely fits into my Lian Li mid tower case. If it was 1/2" longer it would not have fit. This caused installation problems: sata cables & power switch cables came loose installing the board.

Downloaded the latest 9.6 Catalyst drivers. But, ATI over drive tool in drivers did not work. Can't over clock video board. Current Riva Tuner complains that it was not tested with these drivers.

4 out of 5 eggsCapable and affordable

Pros: Works without issue on server 2008
Fairly quiet compared to other fans in the same box
Audio over HDMI is useful.

Cons: None that are noticeable to me

Other Thoughts: I do not use this card to play games, so I can't speak as to how well it handles DirectX or its Crysis framerate, but I believe Tom's Hardware has a very in depth review of the 4830, and while it doesn't account for the OC'ing, it should give you a pretty good idea.

I use this to drive two monitors, one 1920x1080, the other 2048x1152 both at 60hz, and it does it quite well at 18 bit color depth.

Since my motherboard has no builtin sound (server board) I'm using this as my sound card through its HDMI output and my monitor's ability to split out the audio component of an HDMI signal and it's working fine. A bonus I did not quite expect to get and wasn't relying on, but it's definitely a plus if you have the hardware for it.

4 out of 5 eggsA decent midrange videocard

Pros: Excellent performance for under $100 bucks. I used to game allot - but not so much anymore. Recently rebuilt my PC and I bought an NVIDIA 9600 based board - which left allot to be desired. Replaced it with this card - very happy with the result. Just don't expect to play all the newer titles at max settings. Might just start gaming again!

Cons: The driver CD that came with the card was useless (was at Catalyst revision 4.6) - even as a starting off point before you download the latest version. Busted my Audigy2ZS install - slowed boot times down etc. Went to the AMD-ATI site and got the Catalyst 9.6 drivers - all problems resolved.
Download these drivers before you install this card and avoid having to go through the process twice.

Other Thoughts: Have been able to moderately over clock this card - but the performance gains in benchmarks have been minimal so will put it back to as delivered settings.
My system is E8400 o'clocked to 3.6G, FSB o'clocked to 1600MHz, Gigabyte mobo, 4G OCZ 1600MHz RAM. This card gives me the following scores in 3DMark...
06 - 12213
05 - 18805
03 - 25221 (just for fun!)
01 - 35444 (juts for more fun!)

If your on a tight budget buy this card - you'll be happy!

5 out of 5 eggsAwsome card

Pros: Well i bought this card for my girl friends cpu. She had a aging x1950 xt that when playing the sims 3 would have alot of messed up graffixs. This really fixed the problem.

Cons: None for the price you can't beat it.

Other Thoughts: Umm lets see 3dmark06 score 11,578 not shabby.
38c idle temp.
less power consumption when u go x-fire with 2 or more.
