5 out of 5 eggsmsi 4890

Pros: very very good performance for the price! crossfire ready! plays games pretty well.....

Cons: doesnt come with ATI sticker for case:(

Other Thoughts: i have it paired with an amd 955 stock clock and 4gb of mushkin RAM. This card will run games on very high settings but not realy at playable frame rates. Because of this...im buying another one this week for crossfire!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: $179.99 after rebate .Very fast.Low noise level. The ATI Overdrive will auto overclock it a good bit over stock, and is still very stable.

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: This replaced a Geforce 9800GTX+ 1GB, and running COD-WAW I get at least a 20 fps boost on most maps. The sound level is about the same as the Geforce 9800GTX+, which is very good for the performance level of this card.

5 out of 5 eggsIts a monster...truly

Pros: Whats not to like, comes overclocked to 880 and 999mhz respectively. Thats already fast. Its cooler is quite good. Its not loud at all unless you set the fans speed higher intentionally and then what do you expect. It dosent run too hot with proper cooling. (means fan regulation if you really overclock it, otherwise it runs fine on auto). I have it clocked to 900 and 1000mhz respectively. On high/very high at 1600x900 it runs crysis at a constant 50 fps normal, give for take about 5 frames. It tops at 60fps and bottoms at about 32. With almost all settings at very high crysis runs at a max of 40 fps and a minimum of about 28. with and average of about 35. Thats really really good. It runs gta 4 with almost everything maxed and rez at 1600x900 with about 45-55 fps, which is excellent, mirrors edge, assasins creed, fallout 3, and dcs black shark all run maxed out without a problem. Its rather big but nothing insane. It is VERY overclockable too.

Cons: Uhhhh......

Lemme get back to you on that one...or not

Other Thoughts: This card easily equals and possibly surpasses the nvidia 275. (no Im not an nvidia hater, they make good cards, I might get one again some day (I simply hate how review sites suck up to nvidia). So whats not to like? Oh it has a monster on the cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome.

Pros: Amazingly fast, excellent cooling: I have the fan at 40% and it idles at 40 oC and loads at only 57 oC, so you don't have to worry about overheating with this bad-boy. Absolutely destroys all games, I can run Crysis at all high settings at 1680 x 1050 with 4X AA with an Avg of 38 FPS. Would definitely recommend this card to anyone who wants a great card for a great price.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Would be awesome to see 2 of these in CrossfireX.

2 out of 5 eggsFollow-up

Pros: This is a follow-up to a previous review. I purchased 2 and run CrossX and love the 4890 for its "bang-for-the-buck" gaming. However, I would not recommend MSI as a company. At least don't make a purchasing decision based on the alleged $20 MIR. I purchased 2 of these as soon as they were released (several months ago now) and have yet to see anything. Emailed the company and not even a reply.

Cons: False advertising the Mail In Rebate (MIR)

Other Thoughts: Great cards, bad company. Support another brand that will stand behind what they advertise.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Product - Good Price

Pros: Great performance per dollar. I'm coming from a Radeon 9800 Pro that I paid $400 for back in the day. This product is of course better than a 6 year old card. The 9800 Pro was the GTX 295 of my high school days. The point I'm trying to make, is the performance to price ratio is amazing. There is absolutely no reason to buy a $500-600 card with this on the market (for 99% of the people who game). If you need more or feel the need to waste money, Crossfire!

ATI Overdrive works fine for overclocking this card. But it would be better if I could create my own fan settings beyond a static RPM and fully automated. Ideally, I could create a minimum fan speed and the increments based on temperature.

I ended up with 2 profiles using Overdrive, one for default and one for gaming. Gaming I run 930 on the core and 1025 on the memory. I set the fan static to 50% for this. It might go further, but I was happy with that so I stopped there.

Cons: I took away 1 egg because I personally think the auto fan setting lets the card get too hot before kicking up the speed and also because the GPU power connectors are on the side of the card instead of the top. I had a full sized Thermaltake tower and it fit "ok".

Other Thoughts: My Machine:

Intel E8500 (clocked at 3.8GHz on air)
Gigabyte GA-EP43 Mobo
4 Gigs of DDR2
Radeon HD 4890
150GB Raptor

5 out of 5 eggsso nice.

Pros: I have in Crossfire-X mode and It will pretty much kill any game thrown its way. I think it's pretty well constructed. I've always had great stuff from MSI. Great price after MIR and instant rebate!

Cons: These babies get pretty hot. However, you can play at full res for hours on end and it never seems to bother the performance.

Other Thoughts: 2 of these are way cheaper than 1 Nvidia 295. And, according to what I've seen from benchmark they outperform it as well. Especially at higher resolutions.

-800 stream processing units
-Max resolution 2560 x 1600
-Amazing fan cooling
-Quality of the card is great
-Will dominate any Nvidia card for the price

Cons: Does not get me a girlfriend.

Other Thoughts: This card is simply a beast. Amazing quality card with an unbeatable performance for the price. Also ATI is so awesome that it is capable of cross firing with any other HD Radeon 4800 series card. That is right any other 4800 regardless of manufacture. I currently have it crossfired with an XFX 4850 1GB and these things will fragg though anything you throw at them. Running World at War everything maxed 1920X1080 resolution without even breaking a sweat.

You will get a lot more for your money with ATI trust me.

Not only that this thing overclocks great. Using Catalyst Control Center I got this beast overclocked at at 930 Mhz and the memory at 1025 Mhz. I am confident with better cooling you could get 1 Ghz.

On the other side of things. There has been some speculation that ATI partners are considering manufactoring an ATi 4890 X2 with 2Gig and 4Gig cards with the chip clocked at at least 1Ghz. But this is not par of AMD main plans so don't be disappointed if it doesn't come tru

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card

Pros: Great card. Fast, cool, efficient, low noise(in comparison). Worked perfectly out of the box. Every game runs at max, including Crysis. Much quieter than I expected for a dual slot cooler. Can't hear it over my other fans.

Cons: Non so far. Been flawless.

Other Thoughts: The dual slot cooler really helped to keep the temps down in the case. I didn't overclock as I felt it ran my games so well already. Some complain about whining, and fan noise, but I've had no issues. Make sure you have a good power supply. These have been known to cause problems in video cards, which could be the cause of the noise people have.
