5 out of 5 eggsgreat replacement card

Pros: Didn't do a whole lot of testing as this was just to replace the bad on board graphics in my mother's computer, but works great for what she needs it for

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: As I said I merely put it in, loaded win 7 and away it went.

4 out of 5 eggsFound out the issue;

Pros: -Great price.

-Not bad of a Video card. Being low profile and all, this card can actually handle high res. streaming and low end gaming. (Dragon Age 1 works, CS:Source works, etc.) Older games are no problem.

Cons: Drivers on Windows 7 (32 AND 64bit) did not work.
Installation is horrible, horrible I tell ya. (And to the guy below me: Most people know that you need to change the BIOS settings to read the PCI-E card, etc.)

Got Black screen after Windows 7 boots up right after the Loading screen.

Other Thoughts: The card is alright, for the price I got it for ($5) I have no right to complain anymore. Bought it as a gift for little cousin to play some older games.

However, installations are either hit or miss on this one. Tried it on 2 different systems, it seems to be unrecognizable by Windows 7; and the drivers are utter bull. Black Screen of death when Windows tries to boot.
I had to format/install windows XP on my cousin's PC for this Video Card to actually work, and boy I was relieved.

Other notes is that it tends to run a little hot even under average strain, obviously the card is not made for gaming and so. Nothing a fan cannot fix, card runs very cool if a little bit of cooling is present.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value card, follow up review

Pros: Great value card, works fine with Nvidia drivers, silent, runs HD video great. I got this to run 1080p through DVI from a machine with only VGA out.

Cons: Driver CD doesn't work.

Other Thoughts: This is a followup review to the one I did previously (see below). I wanted to see why everyone was getting these incompatibility messages even though mine was perfect. I tried using the driver CD and it turns out that the drivers on it don't work. But download generic Nvidia 8400GS drivers from the Nvidia website and the card works fine. So toss the useless CD and download drivers. (Honestly, you really should do this for all graphics cards).

Also for those who say it's not low profile- you have to install the low profile bracket included yourself. You have to unscrew the hex nuts holding the sockets to the bracket, and then unplug the VGA plug and ribbon cable from the card. Then just screw on the low profile bracket and you're set.

Sometimes the cheaper cards have lower ratings because the people who buy them aren't experts, so take bad reviews with a grain of salt.

1 out of 5 eggsUnrecognizable

Pros: Low profile, supposedly.

Cons: Did not work. Does not work. Tried to different computers, 2 motherboards, did not work. As one other reviewer said, might as well be DOA.

After hours of trying to install it on a newer computer, it finally recognized the card. Can you guess what happens? Drivers do not install automatically; and when trying manually, they were supposedly 'not compatible'. Yes, i did play with the bios and did all the steps (or lack of) when trying to install a new video card.

Waste of money and time. Bought this as a gift for my 12 y/o cousin, and it wasted 2 hours of my time and smashed his hopes..

5 out of 5 eggsDecent value card for HD video

Pros: For the price, works great. Bought it so I could watch HD video on a machine that only had a VGA port (not great for 1080p or anything higher). Silent.

Cons: Runs a bit warm, but still within safe temperatures. Not for gaming, but that should be obvious.

Other Thoughts: Not sure what problems the other reviewers were having. One said he got a 'not compatible' message, but if your video card doesn't work, you shouldn't get video at all. This card worked immediately in my system, though I had to turn off the integrated video in the BIOS, which is probably what the other reviewer forgot to do.

The other reviewer said the card didn't work... but then posted temperatures- not sure how he got them if the card didn't work for him. Also yeah, this card will get up to 60C but that is safe for graphics cards- high end ones can get up to 90 safely.

Point is, not everybody necessarily knows what they're talking about- so take bad reviews with a grain of salt.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't work for me

Pros: No fan to plug up or aux power required

Cons: would not work for me at all. Tried in several computers and received same "not compatible" message. If you are looking for a low profile video card, I don't recommend this one!

1 out of 5 eggsjunk

Pros: was not doa

Cons: might as well have been doa. my computer wouldn't recognize it even tho it should have been compatible. in my wife's computer it wouldn't play well with her i3 processor and her gfx from just the i3-2100 are better than using this card. also the card hit 60c within 10mins of starting up league of legends. her computer is well cooled and the processor was at 28c when the gfx card hit 60c. worthless junk card even for $20... would certainly discourage anyone from buying it and instead recommend sticking with onboard gfx if you cant afford a better card.

Other Thoughts: if ya want low price gfx that perform well get an i3 2100 instead of using a cheap gfx card...
