Based on the NVIDIA's latest 28nm Kepler architecture, the MSI N660 TF 2GD5 video card is built around 960 CUDA cores and 2GB/192-bit GDDR5 memory, and features 1033MHz Boost Clock (53MHz higher than core clock) to deliver more juice for smoother, more responsive gameplay. It supports the full range of GTX 600 series technologies including GPU Boost, Adaptive Vsync, PhysX, 3D Vision, and triple-display 3D surround gaming with a 4th accessory display to take you into a new dimension of entertainment.

The new card boasts the popular Twin Frozr III cooling design with dual 8cm fans with Propeller Blade technology and Superpipe technology. The MSI GTX 660 Twin Frozr GPU temperature runs 19° lower than the reference board and noise is reduced by 12.9dB to deliver the best thermal and noise performance. All solid capacitors ensure an ultra-long 10 years of life, lower temperatures, and higher efficiency, and the aluminum core prevents potential malfunctions under extreme conditions. The GTX 660 Twin Frozr also supports the Afterburner overclocking utility, making it simple to adjust the graphic card's power and timing for even more performance. With support for NVIDIA 3D Vision Surround and a maximum of 4 display outputs on a single card, users will be able to enjoy the ultimate in gaming and multi-tasking.

  • newegg Twin Frozr III Runs 19? Cooler and 12.9dB Softer than the Reference The MSI Twin Frozr III cooling design has continued to win the praise of the industry media. The exclusive Propeller Blade technology features unique air channels on the fan edges to boost cooling performance by increasing the cooling area and providing 20% more air flow compared to conventional fans. When the MSI GTX 660 Twin Frozr graphics card has a full load, the GPU temperature is 19° lower than the reference board and fan noise is 12.9dB softer. The combination of lower temperatures and reduced noise proves once again that MSI products deliver the best user experience!
  • newegg NVIDIA GPU Boost Up until now, GPUs have operated at a fixed clock speed when playing 3D games, even if they have the potential to run faster. GPU Boost intelligently monitors graphics work load and increases the clock speed whenever possible. The result is that the GPU always performs at its peak and you get the highest framerate possible.
  • newegg NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync Nothing is more distracting than framerate stuttering and screen tearing. The first tends to occur when framerates are too low, the second when framerates are too high. Adaptive V-Sync is a smarter way to render frames. At high framerates, V-sync is enabled to eliminate tearing, at low frame rates, it's disabled to minimize stuttering. It gets rid of distractions so you can get on with gaming.
  • newegg Single Card 3D Vision Surround Support Apart from supporting the latest DirectX 11 technology, MSI GTX 660 Twin Frozr can use 3D Vision Surround technology to set up a 3-display 3D surround environment with just one graphics card. With high-quality 3D displays and 3D glasses, this allows gamers to enjoy the amazing visuals in 3D games and movies. Up to 4 display outputs are supported on one single card, allowing gamers to take full advantage of multiple displays and multi-tasking while gaming.
  • newegg MSI Solid Capacitor Graphic Card The MSI N660 TF 2GD5 video card uses high quality solid capacitors. For the gamers and high-end users, this feature not only means better quality components within, but also much stronger support for your hard-core tuning.
  • newegg Support for MSI's Exclusive Afterburner Overclocking Utility The MSI GTX 660 Twin Frozr graphics card supports NVIDIA GPU Boost technology to achieve optimal gaming performance through dynamic management of operating frequency. When used in conjunction with MSI's exclusive Afterburner overclocking utility, gamers can customize the power and timing to maximize the overclocking potential. Afterburner also supports free Predator video capture, remote monitoring of desktop graphics card from smart phones, and one-touch burn-in and special effects testing with Kombustor, making it an indispensable graphics card overclocking utility for enthusiasts.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Runs cool and cannot hear it over CPU fan.

Cons: At this price and point of time buy a 760.

2 out of 5 eggsMSI cheap/bad fans

Pros: was less expensive than the GTX 660ti
Runs VERY cool.
Fans blades are recent design that move great amount of air

Cons: Does not have dust off technology where the fans spin reverse at startup which the other 660 models do have.
The fan profile lets the card run warm instead of making more fan noise. This way MSI can say its "more quiet"
The fans are complete cheap junk and already rattle.

Other Thoughts: This is my second MSI card in 2 years, and my last. My 560 fan has died, and my 660 fans are already making tons of noise. Rattles on and off. I rarely use these computers and the graphics cards are the only issues. Makes it a real pain when everything is reliable other than MSI.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Linux desktop card

Pros: Fast, quiet, energy-efficient. Excellent Linux drivers. Fast, smooth and reliable running Gnome desktop. Outstanding cooler for a card at this price point.

Cons: Overkill for the non-gamer. If MSI had offered a Twin Frozr version of the GTX 650 for $50 less that would have been perfect for my needs.

Other Thoughts: If you're building a silent Linux desktop graphics card this is an excellent choice. Yes, you can get passive cards for less money, but they're slower and run a lot hotter. This card is for all practical purposes inaudible in everyday use, and its temperatures stay around 12°C above ambient.

5 out of 5 eggsMSI GTX 660

Pros: I have waited about 3 months to write a review to see if my thoughts would change over time.. So far It has far exceeded my expectations! This is the quietest gpu I have ever owned, and that in part is why I bought it. I own a SG-05BB mini itx case and quiet and portability is really important to me! Even when under load and not having the best airflow for a mini itx case(Stock), It stays Cool and quiet under heavy load while playing Battlefield 3. 62*C is the highest it has reached! Now my cpu(Core i5 3350p) on the other hand gets pretty hot with the stock cooler when running bf3, (75*c). But I can play BF3 multiplayer 1920x1080 at absolute MAXIMUM settings including 4xAA/8xTXAA/16AF at around 50 fps average, 35 fps lowest! Smooth! Metro 2033 plays great also at maximum but with the TXAA setting(Alot less taxing), at about 45 fps. Tomb Raider at maximum everything about 120 fps average! Now everyone of these games never drop below 30 fps! I see my friends with gtx 690/2 7970's and all really high end hardware, There really isn't much of a need for all of that unless you plan on playing with 8x AA and beyond or on a multi-monitor/beyond 1920x1080 screen!

Cons: Not a thing!

Other Thoughts: I am actually glad I didn't got with a higher end card. At this point there really isn't a need for more power! It still plays the newest games out there at maximum settings!

My Setup:
Silverstone SG-05BB/450w
Core i5 3350p
MSI Gtx 660 twin frozr(Fits like a glove)
Gigabyte z77 mini itx.
8 gb Dominator 1600 mhz ram
2 tb WD HDD
Windows 7

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Absolutely wonderful card. The Twin Frozr cooler keeps this card ridiculously cool and quiet compared to the blower-style fans some other cards have. Only requires one PCI-E power connector. Performs very well, plays all games I've tried on high to max settings at 1080 with ease and never even breaks a sweat.

Cons: Not the best to overclock. I've been using MSI Afterburner for the first time alongside this card and it only lets me get to 110% of the card's power (1150MHz core), so maybe there's a setting I haven't found yet. Otherwise no other real problems.

Other Thoughts: I never had any issue with the firmware as others have. Just plugged it in, installed the drivers, and away I went.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: It's powerful. Upgraded from an old Asus Nvidia GTX260 and made quite a difference. Most games are now maxed out or on very high settings in the most demanding of them. It is very quiet and cool insomuch that I've left it on automatic fan settings with MSI afterburner because I don't even need to adjust it. Idle temps are high 20c or low 30c with the highest temps I've seen after a few hours of gaming to be around 50C and still inaudible.

I had no problems just plugging it in and using it unlike some people before me.

-- It's quiet.
-- It's powerful
-- It's cool
-- It sips on power (low 12v rail requirements.. only 1 six pin connector required)
-- It's high quality and rigid

Cons: -- Price? It needs to drop at least $10-20 as it's too close to the HD7870 which is a tiny bit better at stock but have a huge legroom when overclocked. Not to mention the recent AMD driver updates hugely optimized the HD7xxx cards and boosted their performance by up to 15% in some cases!

Other Thoughts: Intel Core i7-920 @ 3.6ghz
9 gb DDR3-1333 mhz (matching ram, ddr 3 was expensive back in 2008... had to do with what I could afford you know lol)
Asus Rampage II Gene Motherboard
Hitcha 1TB 7200 RPM HDD
Antec NeoEco620C Power Supply
Antec 300 case w/ 4 fans (2 intake/2 outtakes)

4 out of 5 eggsMay need firmware updates

Pros: beautifully crafted, quiet at idle
Great tech support, 2nd person offered to reflash the card to legacy mode since I couldn't get a bios update out of my mobo mfg (but too late as I'd gotten a different answer and sent it back already)

Cons: incompatible with some bios (online tech suppt is fast but not fully informed, email and they're on top of it but take a day, great folks). My mobo isn't one of the named ones but had an ami P01-a1 bios and conflicted (hard).

Other Thoughts: Lovely piece of hardware, and tech suppt is great (albeit the online tech support was unable to help me, but the email above led to folks who could have helped if I'd reached them sooner). Be very careful if you have certain bios, but I think it's workable even w/ that with this info. Good luck.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice

Pros: Fast
Runs Cool
Overclocks Well
Power Efficient
Adaptive V-Sync

Cons: None so far. After about a month and a half of use I've encountered no problems.

Other Thoughts: I average about 50-60fps (with adaptive v-sync on) in BF3
