5 out of 5 eggsExcellent card!

Pros: Awesome card! Runs all the games that I play (mostly online games) wonderfully!

Cons: None so far. I'm not an overclocker so I don't run into any issues with that.

Other Thoughts: Bought this for my first PC build and it run WONDERFULLY. I'm not an overclocker so I can't tell you if there are any issues when it comes to that. I went from a laptop to this so it was a HUGE upgrade for me.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Card

Pros: Good Overclocker, idles at 30C, load temps only hit 60 while playing Crysis. Handles every game maxed 1080p with at least 30fps, with a few exceptions (Witcher SSAA, Metro with SSAO and DoF, some newer games like Far Cry 3 and Crysis 3 may have to be turned down). It's also easy to overclock with MSI Afterburner.

Cons: Stock clocks it performs worse than most 7850s, even the reference ones, but i don't have a great motherboard (my processor however is a 3570k). Price dropped 40 bucks a few weeks after i bought it, and card wasn't as future proof as i thought at the time. Fans are loud at around 60% fan speed and beyond.

Other Thoughts: Might sell this comp and build one with a GTX 760, not sure.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Excellent card at a great price, fast, cool, and quiet

Cons: Purchased for local striped seller...redemption codes for games were NOT in the box, was first told by store and customer service no idea how to redeem...then told to wait at least 72hrs for email with codes for a LIMITED TIME OFFER. That time has passed and then some, still nothing.

Buy from Newegg...better price and at least you will get what was advertised.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter and Better

Pros: Quiet, no installation issues and came with a bridge and molex to card power adapter. Beats my friends 6970 across the board. Blows away the 5870 I replaced. This card has massive OC room that I will only use as the current games increase their demands. Plays everything now at High, Crysis 3 won't go to Ultra without OC.
Bought it early and got it for $160.00 after rebate.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I don't know about the value at $209.00 but at $200.00 and below this is a solid buy.

2 out of 5 eggsSeverely Depressing

Pros: Worked great and ran all my games on ultra settings during the first week of use

Cons: This card has become increasingly frustrating, I have begun to get major frame drop off when playing games, the card sounds like it is trying to lift my computer off the ground whenever I am running WoW with ultra setting or even good or high now, the card is also having issues with rendering videos either downloaded or from youtube will play the video then get a green screen on my monitor and a weird sound from the sound card and the video stops, again this card had no issues what so ever within the first week of owning it now it will not do what I paid for it to do without causing me severe headaches, I called the customer service line and the rep just wanted to point fingers at my Motherboard revision and memory and cpu...but I can put a Geforce GTX 680 in with no issues and better performance..... The reason I went with MSI is because I hear of the great perfomance their cards have and also the customer support sadly I am not at all happy with this and should have opted for the Asus card.

Other Thoughts: My current setup:
AMD FX 8 Core 3.4 GHZ Processor
16 Gigs of Corsair Vengeance Ram
MSI FROZR III Radeon 7850 with 2 Gigs DDR5
Seagate 10k RPM 1 Terrabyte HD
Asus M5A88-M Micro ATX Motherboard
ASUS PCIE Wireless N card
Corsair CX750 M 80 plus Bronze Certified PSU
Razer Anansi Keyboard
Razer SWTOR Naga Mouse
Razer SWTOR 7.1 Gaming Headset
NZXT Lanboy Case
2x ASUS VE278 27inch 2MS Led Backlit Monitors

2 out of 5 eggsDo Not Buy This Card - Unless you like lemons.

Pros: Runs games smooth.

Cons: Hard Freezes,

Since day 1,

MSI's Customer Service reps have accents thicker than frozen black
tar molasses -- which makes it hard to have a discussion without asking "can you repeat that?" three times after each sentence,

MSI wants -me- to pay to ship this defective on warranty -- only when I called a second time and asked them to pay for return shipping did I get a prepaid UPS printing label emailed to me - but no advance exchange still,

MSI won't "Advance-Exchange" a card --- so I'll be missing my only graphics card while I wait 3-4 weeks for the RMA to complete on this one -- I've asked multiple times and MSI refused because it's "Not [their] policy", or they "... don't do that",

Consequentially, I'm sitting on a card which hard-freezes completely randomly -- at desktop, in games, webbrowsing, idling, developing -- no error codes. It's the same error you've probably already read so many posts on.

Other Thoughts: Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice...

I bought the OC edition for my personal computer, has the Hard-Freeze issue. Haven't sent it in to RMA because it's the only high performance card I have. A friend told me that MSI had an overvoltage issue on the OC cards, but it's fixed now, according to what he read. So, I build a PC for a friend, and I get the R7850 non-overclocked card. SAME HARD FREEZE ISSUE.

Two cards, one OC, one not, Both have the Hard Freeze issue.

Two purchases, two lemons.

If an MSI rep reads this, it would make me happy to get an advance exchange

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues that you are having with this product.
From what you are describing, it's recommended that you do more testings rather than RMA since the root cause might be related to your system but not the two cards in a row.
Perhaps you can ask your friend to try the card and see what happens.

We also like to inform you that our policy does not offer Advanced Shipment for 1st time RMAs, and you are responsible for the shipping sending the items to us.
Please note that this is industry standard.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the product, please do not hesitate to contact us directly at and we will be more than happy to assist you, thank you.

Best Regards,

5 out of 5 eggsWorking Great

Pros: Running like a charm. Very quiet I can hardly tell that it's on. I've upgraded from an older rig so I'm probably impartial. I'm just glad everything is running with the detail cranked up as high as it will go.

Cons: I haven't run into any issues

Other Thoughts: Great card I'm extremely happy I purchased it.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: It's cool and quite.

It can't be above 25dbA on load, and it idles around 22C, and I can't get it to go over 35C.

Cons: Doesn't make toast.

Other Thoughts: Runs Minecraft with SEUS @30-40FPS.
