4 out of 5 eggsReview Take 2

Pros: It is hashing nicely for me now that I got it working. It doesn't run very hot while mining and I'm assuming gaming will produce the same results. Was easily OC at 1500 1000 when paired up with my 5770.(see cons)

Cons: Instructions are to sparse they literally say put the card in the slot turn it on and install the drivers... I know it should be common sense to plug in the 8 and 6 pins but still. I'm new to these monster video cards being that my last one is a HD 5770. I thought it was a DOA card. Thought it may be the PSU went out and bought one still nothing.

Then with my mad wild TS skills (MSI was closed all weekend) I thought well maybe I should use one of these modular connections instead of the 8 pin from the main ream of wires. Needless to say once I did that no issues. I have also purchased a 290x card now. Which makes this card impossible to OC at 1500 without crashing or making such horrible lines on the screen you can't make out anything. I updated to the latest beta bios on my board which helped to OC it more then I could previously.

4 eggs due to the horrible documentation on install. I now know better but how many others were like me? A simple call to MSI could likely resolve the issue. That is if they were open on the weekends. Lucky for me I got it working and now it occasionally will break 900/KHS which is great for a 290.

Other Thoughts: Runs cool and gets the job done.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Runs stable 24 hours a day for scrypt mining. Fan does a good job of keeping the card under 70 degrees.

Cons: Fan is quite loud.

Other Thoughts: Look up a video comparison of fan noise if you haven't bought a card like this before. I was surprised just how loud it is.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: It's supposed to mine nicely.

Cons: First off I ordered this and a case fan the same day. This then the fan to save on shipping. the case fan marked shipped first even though the order number was a thousand later. I paid extra for 3 day shipping . The case fan showed up long before the card. yet I paid extra for shipping. I decided to over look that. Until I plug in this card and my PC wouldn't power on. I'm thinking it's my power supply it's 4 years old and only 850 so I go to micro center and buy a 1000w and a new motherboard to boot same dam thing PC won't even turn on. card is DOA and I noticed its now 580 I paid 500. price gouging much newegg. And now I look and it's discontinued and out of stock. I'm not happy I was planning on mining with this and making some money that I now may have to wait days to get a replacement if I even can.

5 out of 5 eggsGood for mining

Pros: This card is great for scrypt mining, OCs to 1000/1500 easily for around 850-900 KH/s.

Cons: Price has gone up.

Other Thoughts: Do not use Gigabyte motherboards when mining with these cards, they have difficulty detecting them with PCIe risers w/ molex.

4 out of 5 eggsGot what I paid for

Pros: Performance is solid and runs stable. Afterburner software is great for tuning. 750 Kh/s.

Cons: Runs hotter (94C vs. 85C) than my other R9 290 which is made by A$U$. Doesn't mine as well as my other R90, either.

Other Thoughts: I got the card before the price hike, so I am happy with how much I paid vs. how well it performs. Don't know why this card runs hotter. Both my R90s are under maximum load when mining.

5 out of 5 eggsFollow up review to my previous ones.

Pros: Less coil whine than my first sample.
Exceedingly fast card.
IMO better IQ than my GTX 780 (in BF4).

Cons: Getting expensive, not sure I would buy one of these if I can get a GTX 780 for less.
Loud when under full load if stock fan is used.
Will not be modded to an R9 290X (my Powercolor can)

Other Thoughts: My first card had terrible coil whine, see review below. My second card had less coil whine and now that I have both my R9 290's under water I am finally a happy man.
These cards tear through anything, currently I am hitting over 16,000 in Firestrike (R9 290's in CF), a single card will do around 9,000. In Unigine valley I am seeing just over 110 fps. I have an Intel i7 3770K running at 4.6ghz. I am only playing BF4 right now and I can say that there is less texture shimmering with the CF R9 290's than there was with my GTX 780. I am experiencing no runt frames with these cards in CF. I game at 2560x1440 and am seeing around 75-105 fps in BF$ at ultra with 4xFSAA enabled. Extremely happy with this VGA solution. I had no issues buying these with stock coolers as I had water blocks to use, however for people that are using stock cooler you will miss out on a lot of potential power as these cards would throttle to 830mhz from the 947mhz as they approached 94C. I am sure that a third party air cooler would help. I can run my cards 24/7 at 1100mhz core and 1350mhz memory.
These cards are getting extremely expensive and had to find due to all the coin miners buying them... If you can get one, buy it, however at $529 I might just recommend an overclocked GTX 780 like the EVGA Classified instead.

4 out of 5 eggsawesome card

Pros: Got his bad bad boy to replace my 7950, all i can say wow
i tried 770 before i put this one and r9 290 blow 770 then i had to return 770 back to local store.
set all my games to max what i mean is total maxed out the setting without any glitch. well done amd make this card more affordable but now the price is going up $100 dollar more

Cons: all others review are correct this card is loud (very loud) and significantly hot 90-95 deg c. but you can set your temp limit and it wont go any higher.
fedex almost took 2 week to delivered it to me that why i had to take 1 egg off.

Other Thoughts: if you have single monitor i suggest use your cellphone to monitor the temp with MSI afterbuner (google it how to make it work with your cellphone)
Overall its awesome card, get it while you can

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Card

Pros: -Runs BF4 and most other new games on max settings with ease.
-AMD was on top of the beta drivers so this card worked well out of the box using drivers off website.
-Great for heating up my room
-I felt safer about using the card once I used MSI Afterburner to setup a more agressive fan profile. For me it was about 70% fan speed for 70c while intensive gaming. Sure it was louder but I had headphones on.

Cons: It would really be nice if AMD would have put a more aggressive fan profile on UBER mode because it's annoying to have to run MSI Afterburner 24/7 in the background just to keep the card from overheating. Mine would climb to 100c if I left it alone.

Other Thoughts: Great card but bad cooling. More aggressive fan profile encoded in to bios would be better for 5 stars.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat cards - Really loud

Pros: Bought 2x - Litecoin mining cgminer 3.7.2
700 plus kh/s without pegging the cards GPU.
GPU fans sitting about 80%
1.4 Mh/s for both roughly. You can get more out of these cards, but I choose to tone it down a little. Afterburner util is good for adjusting fan curve if your tweaking the card like I am.

Cons: None yet other than being really loud above 50%
I assume most gamers will not have to experiance this.

Other Thoughts: Good card - MSI could hav saved a few thousand tree's by making the box smaller. Lotta pointless space inside.
Never a fan of the ATI/AMD refrence cooling. Drivers can be a pain, make sure you get the 13.11 drivers because anything prior does not support this card.

5 out of 5 eggsBF4 84 Consistent FPS

Pros: This is everything you will need to run the latest games at a high frame rate on ultra settings. I was seeing a consistent 84 frames per second with occasional dips to 64 and highs in the 110s. I have been told to go GTX 780, but I'm glad I didn't because to me the performance seems faster.

Cons: The card runs slightly hot, but I have a well ventilated case so it is not a factor for me.

Other Thoughts: I replaced two crossfire Radeon 270x cards with this and lets just say that crossfire is not worth it. This card runs at far greater frames per second on ultra settings.
