5 out of 5 eggs2 years later

Pros: 2 years later and its still going amazingly strong. Coupled with a strong setup - cpu/memory/mobo/hd - this thing will still run every game on max settings on my 40 inch sammy LCD tv. I never thought this thing would last me so long.. i don't even want to upgrade it i love it so much.. also i have no need still.

Cons: Sometimes the fan will rev up really high.. i like to think its just clearing out some dust :)

Other Thoughts: My version of the card is way different than this picture newegg has up, i had one of the first versions.. it looks amazing and since patches it also cools really well (when it first came out the fan speed control was real bad). Like i said, this card coupled with other quality parts is amazing. I also have an Antec 1200 case so my cooling is more than adequate. I can even over-clock it pretty well if i want, but still have had no need.

1 out of 5 eggsVisionTek 4870 BAD

Pros: Worked for a while, until overheated. Drivers updates eventually solved the fan speed issues. Relatively inexpensive.

Cons: First card lasted a while (1year), overheated. Bought another now a year later and it came with fans non-functioning... A deadly flaw in this heater... Thanks to newegg for allowing refund.

Other Thoughts: Looks to now be discontinued. If the fans had functioned properly with drivers, then this card would have been fantastic long term purchase. Don't understand how it won reader's choice awards...

1 out of 5 eggsDOA but hopeful.

Pros: Unknown, although the specs and many reviews make it sound great. I look forward to using I planned to use 2 of them in crossfire.

Cons: DOA. Unfortunately, I had to wait for my new gaming rig to be built by a friend who didn't have the time to do it quickly. The parts sat for awhile, so I missed the RMA cut-off for NewEgg (who would, I assume, be awesome as usual). Now I'm waiting on VisionTek to get back to me and am already ticked off about paying for RMA shipping both ways.

Other Thoughts: I rolled the dice on this product, banking on the overwhelming positive reviews. I got one of the bad cards. My advice is to purchase it, but be sure to check it IMMEDIATELY so that, if it's defective, you can work with NewEgg and not VisionTek. Here's hoping I'll actually be able to try it out soon.

3 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: I have one in my other computer and it works great. Little loud but i think that's cool. You'll be playing a game and underload it sounds like someone turned on a vaccum cleaner lol.

Cons: This new one's fans didn't work so it was over heating and the mobo kept shutting off :(

Other Thoughts: might go with a 4890

4 out of 5 eggsGreat graphics

Pros: The graphics with this card are amazing--play wow and have wonderful frame rates using only one card. Bought a second one about 2 weeks later.

Cons: These are big! Took a bit of maneuvering to get both installed on the board.

1 out of 5 eggsVisiontek, not worth it if DOA

Pros: Price and Lifetime LIMITED and I do mean LIMITED warranty.

Cons: Died on me within a 5 weeks. RMA Process requires you to PAY SHIPPING BOTH THERE AND BACK. What a rip off. So if you figure that you'll be spending $20 more if your card does not work or dies shortly it still a good deal? Even if it lasts only a couple months??

Other Thoughts: I am very, VERY disappointed in Visiontek for this. The whole lifetime warranty sounds good at first, that's what got my attention...however it will cost you way more in the long run than getting an ASUS card (which I am kicking myself for not getting one by the way). To me it seems that if you have to charge your customers for shipping back to them, then that means Visiontek is trying to cut costs, in turn...why is there so many products RMA'ed? How about trying to cut costs by...what's it called again?....oh....

Q U A L I T Y C O N T R O L !

I can see the shipping thing after the first year...but months later??? C'mon!!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Dependable Card

Pros: This is a great card and is capable of handling nearly any game you can throw at it. The new 5000 series is out now and most certainly outperforms this card; however, cost/benefit, this card's performance is still better per $1 spent. If you're into a silent solution there's the Fanless 4670 and if you're a hardcore gamer there's, as noted previously, the 5000 series which is shattering records left and right. I'm going to stick with this card for a while, there is YET to be a game I can't completely enjoy with this GPU Behemoth.

Cons: The computer does run a bit hot and I'm certain this card is one of the larger contributors; however, I do game so it's more than worth the expense . . . and is to be expected. The card is also large, and although I have a Full Tower case, those with a Micro-ATX tower or even a smaller/crampt ATX case will want to read up on the measurements to make sure it will fit (and not block necessary connectors such as SATA, USB, CMOS Battery, etc).

Other Thoughts: Always keep your drivers updated. Cards that are under 2 years old or so receive frequent driver updates that significantly increase performance. Good Gaming to all!
