Will this video card be compatible with my HP DC7900 small form factor tower?

I have built a few Dell 780sff and sdt and utilized this card in a few of them.  So if your HP DC7900 sff is similar.  You should not have an issue.   It raised the WEI Graphics / Gaming Graphics to a 7.3 / 7.3 after the card was upgraded on these systems.

Will this work for the dell xps 8000 or what a good card to buy just to play empire total war?

Honestly I'm not sure.  I went to the Dell website and searched for the highest video card upgrade I could get for my Dell PC.  Don't remember the model number, but it's fairly new, about a year and a half old.  I use it exclusively for gaming and play World of Warcraft.  I've haven't had any problems with it - installed it myself.  Good luck!

Question 3

Is this card compatible with a Dell Studio 435T/9000 with standard 475 W PSU?  The original card is a Nvidia GeForce GTS 240.  Is this the best replacement at this time without change of PSU?

It would depend on your planned use of the card. 1) You need to make sure it'll fit in your case as it is larger than your GTS 240. 2) You'll be pushing it with a 475w PSU. If you do decide to buy the HD7970 with your current PSU you run the risk of it dying prematurely and/or short-circuiting your other computer components; also this card will need a 6+2 pin and a 4 pin power connector to run which I don't believe your PSU has.

If you do not feel like you wish to change your PSU also, I would advise against this card. However, you could try the energy efficient HD7770 which is not only cheaper, but should also provide a significant improvement over your current GPU.

is this card compatible with a gateway2370?

I used mine in two Dell OptiPlex 760s. I needed low height cards that worked with the stock power supply that came with the Dells. Compare the specs and dimensions (power supply wattage and card clearances) to be certain though. I don't know much about Gateways.

Question 5

I wanted to know if this card will run sims 3 without any laging?

I haven't tried the Sims 3 specifically but I've ran other games that are far more graphically intensive with no problem. You should be fine.

Question 6

I have a Dell Optiplex 740 in the Destop version chassis.   It currently has an Nvidia GeForce 6150 LE graphics card that will not allow me to upgrade to the Windows 10 environment.  I checked out the power output which is rated at 280W.  Is this card compatible with my computer?  If not, do you have any recommendations as to what would work with my system to get it up to the required specs for Windows 10?

This card will work on a 740. The power draw on the card is low enough to where it shouldn't have an issue, and it pulls power through the pcix slot. I am running this card in a 780 SFF right now which has similar specs and shipped with a 275w psu. I believe the 740 full size shipped with a 305w, mid size was a 280w, and small form was 275w.

I am currently using an AMD Radeon 6450 HD and I want to know if this would be the same size? And is GDDR5 better to get then one that is GDDR3?

Hey Brandon, I got this card not too long ago, let me answer your questions. The 7750 would be roughly the same size as the 6450 you are currently using. They are both single slot graphics cards, so they only take up one slot on the back of your case.

As far as the memory goes, GDDR 5 is better/faster than GDDR3, but there are a few other factors here to compare as well. The 6450 is only PCI express 2.1 where as the  7750 is PCIE 3.0. So you are going to see better speeds overall with this card simply because it's using the PCIE 3.0 bus, assuming of course your mother board supports it.

Now your 6450 cards memory interface is only 64 bit where the 7750s is at 128 bit. So you are basically getting twice the bus with the 7750 which translates into greater memory bandwidth. Your 6450 actually has a slightly higher over all memory clock speed, but the 7750s memory is overall a good bit faster due to the larger bus and faster ram and PCIE 3.0.

Another big difference is the core clock speed of the main GPU. This is what really matters when it comes down to overall performance. The 6450s GPU is only clocked at 625 mhz, where as the 7750 is clocked at 800 mhz. Also the 6450 only has 160 stream processors where as the 7750 has 512. So it has quite a few times more processors and thus can process a lot more data at once, and at a much faster speed than the 6450.

Overall the 7750 would be a nice upgrade from the 6450 and should get you a nice boost in performance. Hope this helps!
