Designed to levitate your gaming experience to stratospheric heights, the EVGA 640-P2-N821-AR represents the latest in graphic technology. Built around NVIDIA's latest GPU core (GeForce 8800GTS), this PCI-E graphic card redefines the term "gaming". Encompassing the revolutionary new NVIDIA unified architecture (with GigaThread technology); this graphic card simultaneously processes multi-threaded shader instructions to reproduce rich 3D graphics details in real-time.

Its 640 MB 320-Bit GDDR3 memory has a clock speed of 1600 MHz, and as such lets this advanced card run the richest games at their highest settings. Featuring full DirectX 10 support, this card is fully geared for the inevitable onslaught of the next-generation Microsoft Windows Vista. The NVIDIA PureVideo HD Technology offers high-definition video decoding and delivers videos with unprecedented clarity to convert your PC into a high-end home-theater system.

The NVIDIA Lumenex Engine delivers spectacular image quality and high floating point accuracy at ultra-high frame rates, and their Quantum Effects Technology results in a new level of gaming performance, as it lets the major physics computation to be done by the GPU itself, freeing the core CPU for other tasks. The EVGA 640-P2-N821-AR is SLI enabled, and as such you can connect two of these behemoths to get the penultimate gaming system.

  • newegg NVIDIA Unified Architecture with UltraThread Technology The fully-unified shader core dynamically allocates processing power to geometry, vertex, physics and pixel shading operations, delivering incredibly true-to-life 3D graphics. In addition, the massively multi-threaded architecture supports thousands of independent, simultaneous threads, providing extreme processing efficiency in advanced, next generation shader programs.
  • newegg Full Microsoft DirectX 10 Support The world's first DirectX 10 GPU with full Shader Model 4.0 support delivers unparalleled levels of graphics realism and film-quality effects.
  • newegg NVIDIA Lumenex Engine The NVIDIA Lumenex Engine supports 128-bit and 64-bit floating point HDR with up to 16x anti-aliasing, delivering vividly realistic lighting effects while obliterating "jaggies".
  • newegg NVIDIA SLI Technology Delivers up to 2x the performance of a single GPU configuration for unmatchable gaming experiences. The must-have feature for PCI Express graphics, NVIDIA SLI technology allows two graphics cards to run in parallel and dramatically scales performance on today's hottest games.
  • newegg NVIDIA PureVideo HD Technology The combination of high-definition video decoding acceleration and post-processing delivers unprecedented picture clarity, smooth video, accurate color and precise image scaling for all video content, especially movies.
  • newegg Built for Microsoft Windows Vista Built for Windows Vista, NVIDIA's fourth-generation GPU architecture offers users the best possible experience using the Windows Aero 3D graphical user interface available in Microsoft's latest operating system.

5 out of 5 eggsBought this for $356.32 in 2007.. 2013 now and still working great!

Pros: This GPU lasted me over 6 years! I modded mine with a Thermalright HR-03 Plus heatsink.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I was able to play Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 on low-medium settings without major issues. Pretty good for a 6 year old graphics card!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Bought this back when it first came out for 550 bucks. It was a great card and ran all the best games. Crysis at high settings. It eventually passed on about 4-5 years of everyday use. I was sad to see it go.

Cons: I'm gonna guess it overheated and failed, forgot to register it for the lifetime warranty at the time :(

5 out of 5 eggsPerformance Domination, well back then

Pros: Performance is excellent, over 80 FPS on games like HL2, TF2, Fallout 3, CSS and Garrys Mod. Never had a crash that was related to it. Never got to hot, even when forcing it. Real quiet for the most part.

Cons: I had a micro ATX board and this was a problem, it was really like a hairs distance from scraping my ram. Not really something to take an egg off for though.

Other Thoughts: If your getting this, no another site or from another person, I recommend you have a full ATX mother board and that it can fit in your case with enough extra room, you don't want to have problem getting this card in or out.

4 out of 5 eggsTribute: Tried and Ture Great Card

Pros: Had this Card Since 2008 and it's been runing like a champ ever since! Overall at first I thought the card wasn't quite what my expectations were; but, it ran W.O.W. on Very Good/custom settings at 60Fps Solid (in SW/IF/Dalarn(@48-52fps) with V-sync) all the way through and including Cata. For being such an "In the day" kick'n card it held up fantastic and well worth the $75.00 I paid for it :)

Cons: Isn't a 560Ti Superclock.

Other Thoughts: Had this Card Since 2008 and it's been runing like a champ ever since! Got it from a friend brand new unused for $75.00 because it wouldn't fit in it's case! lolz. All and all it's been a great champ and it's lived it's day commendably... will keep it just for keep sake.

5 out of 5 eggsGood card

Pros: I did a lot of research before deciding on this card. EVGA is a solid company, and this card is evidence of that. I'm an avid gamer..I log several hours a week fraggin noobs, and this card has handled everything I've thrown at it with style. If you're looking at the GTX, take a look at the two cards side by side and ask yourself if the small difference is worth all that extra money.

Cons: When I bought this card, it was pretty costly, but then again it was the second best card on the market at the time. WIth the 9 series cards out now, this is a GREAT buy for someone who wants the best, but doesn't want to pay 500 dollars for a card.

Other Thoughts: I wish had I gotten 2 and SLI'd them

4 out of 5 eggsOk card

Pros: I bought this card for a build for my friend. We paired it up with a E6750 and a Evga 680i motherboard. The good thing about this card is with the stock cooler it can still be overclocked to about 600mhz core.

Cons: this may not be the card or the cpu is bottle necking it but in FSX its is quite etchy on high setting when my X1950xt isnt etchy at all. Oh and i does seem to run a little bit hot but you can still oc the core and memory with a stock cooler just fine.
