Avoid EVGA products
- Pros: Words fine out of the box
- Cons: Cheap cooling system almost certain to fail.
- Other Thoughts: My fan failed after 4 months. EVGA > WILL NOT < sell you replacement fans, instead insisting you return your card for a replacement of "equal of comparable value".
I sent in a 512MB 7600GT and received a replacement 256MB 6200. What a joke.
Too Hot
- Pros: This card is fast.
Worked great for 9 months on my old AGP system. I've had it since January 08.
- Cons: This card gets too hot.
Right now it's dead until i can figure a way to increase the cooling on it. The fan is way too small and i found the heatsink is lame.
- Other Thoughts: The fan and heatsink may work if you can install a fan or 2 on the side of the PC.
I paid $114 back in 1/08. Clean your PC often, including the cards fan. The smallest amount of dust seems to clog up the fan.
Sweet & Sour
- Pros: This is the first video card I have ever dealt with, but I'll have to say this card was pretty amazing when I got it. I play mostly Counter-Strike: Source, and World of Warcraft, both on max settings. It was picking up pretty decent fps avging around 40-60 fps between both games. All until that dreadful day. (see cons below.)
- Cons: I've had this card for about a year and a half before I started getting the symptoms of it going out on me. It started with constant choking of visualizations within games until finally it just wanted to roll with low avg fps, say about 15-20 instead of it's normal pace. Then recently (a few days ago), I tried to log in to WoW, and as soon as it started the game froze! This happened consistently while trying the process again and again, until finally, my monitor went to sleep; the video card no longer worked.
- Other Thoughts: As the post before mine states, "Great while it lasted", the meaning of this topic is very true. Maybe it was just our luck in general that the card just so happened to die on us; but in consideration, the card itself was really nice when it worked.
In conclusion, I would not recommend buying this product, if you are just trying to get a VC to stuff into your cpu, you are better off getting the Geforce 8500 GT from NVidia (2007 model); it's newer, and has a higher quality! .... who'd of thought.
