5 out of 5 eggsGreat value!

Pros: Works great and very easy to install the drivers. I still love EVGA and NVIDIA!

Cons: It wasn't free.

Other Thoughts: I had to mess with the old ATI graphics card before being able to put this in. It was a simple driver uninstall process, but simple to setup and works great, like I said.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't Work at All

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: Tried for like 12 hours to get this thing to work in my system. I tried 5 different driver revisions from nvidia from about 2 years worth of revisions. With the card installed, NEITHER card would send a signal to the monitors, nothing but a black screen. I could still get into the machine via Remote desktop, but no matter what I did, no go.

Other Thoughts: system specs, 8800GT card that's been running great for years. Dell 410 Vostro, Win XP SP3.

In case you're wondering, yes, I did set the BIOS to PCI and PCI-e both, neither worked. No matter what I did, the card NEVER sent a signal in safe mode or otherwise.

RMA'd the card.

5 out of 5 eggsGood video card for TV viewing

Pros: Not expensive, runs 1920 X 1080 with no problem, PCI so it works in just about any computer. Don't know how it would be for gaming, but all I wanted was a video card that would drive my new 46" LCD TV at native resolution, and it does that wonderfully! Looks great.

Cons: None for me.

Other Thoughts: Have this card in a pieced-together-from-old-parts PC (Including a eMachines case that I picked up from someone who's motherboard had gone bad--ready supply of those around) that I use to show movies, stream Netflix, play music, and other meadia-center type tasks. Not the most energy efficient setup by a long shot (939 dual-core AMD) but we don't run it 24/7 as a rule, and all it cost me was the video card and a bigger hard drive. Being able to use the computer to do things on the TV is nice--just wish we could do EVERYTHING on demand. One of these decades...

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad, but keep in mind what it is

Pros: - PCI interface great for older computers
- Relatively fast card for the interface
- Cheapest PCI-based card I could find with relatively modern chipset
- Component video output cable included

Cons: - PCI interface slows things down a bit
- Significant overscan on component output
- Nvidia driver/control panel for this chipset could offer more options
- No HDMI output (though DVI could be converted)

Other Thoughts: Bought this card as part of an experiment to convert an old Dell SC420 into a Boxee PC for a lower-end HTPC location with an old plasma with component video inputs. The PCIE video card interface on this PC doesn't work (pins munged during attempt to mode the slot to work) so had to go with a PCI card. This card fit the bill in every respect for my current requirements.

As a PCI card I do not expect the fastest throughput or the most features. For a $50-ish video card on an older, slower interface it performs as well as can reasonably be expected. The only real issue is, as others have mentioned, the overscan on the component video output. There are driver/control panel settings to adjust this but I've had issues getting changes to work well. In Boxee this can be compensated for quite accurately in the Advanced settings but for any other application it could be unacceptable.

All in all it's a decent card for what it's designed to do. Just don't expect more than it's capable

1 out of 5 eggswaste of money doues not work black screen.

Pros: none

Cons: black screen never worked from day one rip off buyer beware.

Other Thoughts: never worked out of the box screen block no video cignal video card arrived DOA! dead waste of money

Manufacturer Response:

Hi,

For a PCI card, please remember that you will need to set the primary display port to PCI as well as disable the onboard prior to installation.

Thanks,
Jacob

2 out of 5 eggs7300 gt

Pros: good name and low profile

Cons: It has low graphical computing power. My old bfg 7300gt with 128 ram was faster.... and its core clock was only 350.
I expected alot and got real disappointed.

Other Thoughts: The sad thing is that my old card cost less and worked fast

3 out of 5 eggsGeForce 8400GS for Linux

Pros: I am currently running Ubuntu 9.10 the driver was easy to install, works great for the pc screen.

Cons: The TV-Out function for this card for some reason overscans the display; causing your tv display to be cut off on all the sizes. Nvidia does not have any fix for this problem.

Other Thoughts: I like the card I am going to install window xp on the pc to replace ubuntu 9.10.

4 out of 5 eggs3rd monitor YES

Pros: Worked immediately out of the box as a 2nd card with an nVidia 8800 PCI Express 16 card

Cons: Only 1 DVI output.

Other Thoughts: I always work with 3 monitors. This went in a replacement PC that could not support 2 PCI-Ex video cards. Only solution was to get a PCI card with the EXACT SAME CHIPSET as the main nVidia card which was an 8 series with dual DVI out. In case you need to add a 2nd card for 3+ monitors with nVidia in XP, Vista or Windows 7, you must match the same chipset NOT just use the same unified driver.

Since this card will never run more than the 2D desktop, it's performance will be fine. I could have saved $20 on a cheaper slower 8400 card but I didn't think it was worth it.

I can't speak for reliability yet but the previous PC was using the PCI-Express version of this card from eVGA and ran flawlessly for 2 years until the mobo died.

3 out of 5 eggsGood card Bad fan/heatsink

Pros: For a low pro PCI card the performance is amazing. On an old P4 3.0 ghz it got a 3dmark 06 score of 1100.
Will run some games on low settings, which is great for a PCI card.
It also works great as a dedicated physix card in my big computer next to my 8800GT on UT3.

Cons: After about 3 months the fan started clicking and gridning, then a fan blade broke off altogether. With out the fan the picture got all pixelated and I got random driver erros.
I was able to attach a another little fan and the card runs fine again but it looks all ghetto.

Other Thoughts: This card should not even have a fan. It should have a nice sold copper or even aluminum heat sink. They used a thin aluminum plate with a fan on it. It does not even have coolering fins like a conventional heat sink.

5 out of 5 eggsgood video and picture card

Pros: lasted me awhile untill i got a 9500gt.could almost max out call of duty 4 but the main use of this card would be for budget.its very cheap and is very good if you just want to view pictures or watch high quality movies

Cons: not a very good card nowadays but other than that if you just want to view pics and watch movies its a good card.

Other Thoughts: go for a 9500 its like 30$ more
