4 out of 5 eggsGreat video card for the price

Pros: This card is really fast and you can throw just about any game at it from 2009 (when purchased) until now (2012). For the really intense you have to back of the settings a little. The EVGA Precision software it keeps the video card fan at the right speed depending on how much the video card is being used.

Cons: That the card runs warm to hot, but if you have it well ventilated in your case it will keep the card for getting to hot. Use of the EVGA Precision software should have an auto update feature, and not having to install it from safe mode.

Other Thoughts: This was the top of the line when the card came out, I'm glad that I got 2 of them at the price of $179.99 and the mail in rebate helped too. Will be looking at the newer cards from EVGA.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card!

Pros: This thing is great! I got it to play games and I love it. I play CoD:WaW with everything up except AA and I get 40-60 fps @ 1680 x 1050. All the games that I tried I could max out, or almost max out and keep 40-60 fps. (CoD:MW, Wolverine Unleashed, Left 4 Dead, Prototype)

Cons: This thing is big!!! I had to cut a 3 inch notch out of my harddrive mounting brackets to get the card to fit. This was in a Raidmax mid ATX case. Make sure that you buy a big case if you don't want to have to trim some of it. But it is well worth it.

Other Thoughts: I didn't take points off because I knew that the card was big and I bought a mid ATX anyway. This thing was $175 with a $25 mail in rebate ($150!!). I think is is just as good as the 280 if you want to save some $$$.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: Very powerful, runs any of my games like Oblivion, Fallout 3, Lost Planet and Prototype very well at max settings with Anti Aliasing turned on. The one game I have issues running at max is Crysis, running at "merely" high settings. Relatively cool and quieter than my old 9400gt, much to my surprise.

Cons: As many reviewers have commented, size is definitely an issue. On my micro ATX motherboard, I had to cut and mod two of my SATA data cables to get them to fit behind the graphics card for my CD drive and second hard drive, but I am still glad it worked.

Other Thoughts: The first time I got it running at load, the area my computer sits began to smell of hot plastic and the card was hot enough to almost burn my hand. The next day however, the card ran nice and cool and there was no longer a smell. I just assumed the card was getting "broken in".

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card, Great Value

Pros: For the price, you can't go wrong. DirectX 10 support, lots of RAM and processing power to play all the latest games. Fit perfectly in my Thermaltake Armor Series case, plenty of room on my MSI K9N2-Platinum mobo. I can run CoD: WaW at 1600X1050 at max settings with no problems. The card idles at 46 with the fan at 40% (default). The EVGA Precision tool is very easy to use.

Cons: I upgraded from a 7900 GT and noticed the load times on this card are a bit longer - no big deal really, but it's annoying. Crysis lags a little on high-max settings at my current resolution - again, no big deal. If I wanted the performance of a 280-285 I would have bought one; I just expected more I guess.

Other Thoughts: AMD 64X2 5800+ 3.0gHz
4GB Corsair RAM
X2 Seagate Barracuda 320GB HDD's
650W Antec TruePower
MSI K9n2-Platinum SLI mobo
EVGA GTX 260
Windows Vista Home Premium

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome card!

Pros: This card is great for the price, it runs everything ive thrown at it, including farcry 2 at optimum settings. the OCing program provided with it is great too, i can get ti to run at almost 700mhz without losing stability

Cons: idles at 53C, kinda warm, but with the evga program, you can speed up the fan

Other Thoughts: if youre looking for a great card for a great price, get this. the gtx 280 is great, but youll only be running games at an average of about 7 fps faster for an extra $100

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Card... Read the fine Print

Pros: Great upgrade card for those that are in the 8000 series. The Card will play pretty much anything you can toss at it.

Cons: This is the 65nm version so the card does run a bit hotter and is older.

Also **** The model: 896-P3-1260-TR you get a 2 year warranty on this card.

Look for card models from EVGA that end in the following:

The EVGA limited lifetime warranty is only eligible for part numbers ending in:
-A1, -A2, -A3, -A4, -AR, -AX, -CR, -CX, -DX, -FR, -FX, -SG, -SX.

Other Thoughts: It's a great card. However, If it's something you plan on having for more than two years I'd definately look for the Lifetime Limited Warrany.

***Register the card within 30 days of your purchase to get your warranty approved.***

If you procrastinate it game over for you. EVGA Techs are usually sticklers about that.

5 out of 5 eggsBig

Pros: Card does rather well, this was an upgrade from a 9800 GT for me and it performs awesome. You can't get anything better for the price.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: This is my first try with EVGA and I am happy so far, yes the fan is loud and the card is huge, but as long as you have the room for it, it is well worth it. Just be advised the card is big, it fills my full size case - something to pay attention to if you are using a smaller case.

2 out of 5 eggsin response to response

Pros: This evga card is ok..

Cons: Card was missing hdmi adapter & audi cable.
Seal on box was broken. EVGA was good about sending me for free a new hdmi adapter & audio cable.

It came with 6 pin adapters which i didnt need, pwr supply has them. The point is it sucks to pay for shipping to send back a faulty card with missing items. And It sucks that newegg doesnt check sent back items for missing parts & then they ship it back out as new. The card itself is ok, my friend has a msi dual pipe cooling card , much better smoother & runs cooler.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi,

Please contact us directly at 888-880-3842 so we can send you the missing accessory.

Thanks,
Jacob
