5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card / Not so good rebate

Pros: Bought two for SLI, so far installed just one. Replacing my two 9500gt's in SLI. Windows 7 bumped the performance score from 6.6 to 6.9 with just this one installed! Can hardly wait to install the second.

Cons: Unfortunately, the rebate was not so good. When I purchased these cards(8.2.2010) it was advertised with a rebate. I thought cool. But the rebate apparently didn't go into effect until 8.3.2010. And my invoice purch. date showed the the 2nd. My rebate was rejected and I'm out 30 bucks each. A bit dissappointed. Also, the rebate is in the form of gift cards and according to the conditions only one rebate allowed per person via hosehold. So if you buy two for SLI, you might only get one. Not to mention you have to jump thru alot of hoops.

Other Thoughts: Have purchased most at Newegg and been pretty satisfied. Good store with good product.
My system: Asus P7P55D EVO mobo,Arctic Frezzer Pro Cpu cooler, Intel I7 860 2.8ghz (stock),Kingston HyperX 2gb(x2)1333 ram,Creative Xfi Extreme Audio, Sony DVD Rom, Memorex DVD Burn w/ lightscribe, Seagate 250gb HDD (2x), One running XP Pro 64 and the other running Windows 7 Pro 64. All in a 20 year old Rosewill case.(Refitted/upgraded fan cooling). Vizio 37" lcd tv, via HDMI and audio using 11year old Technics reciever with 6 channel surround, JBL theater speaker set.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Great graphics for the price, nVidia engineering combined with EVGA awesomeness. HDMI output. When the graphics are too high for the card, it handles it well. Have had absolutely no problem with it since I got it.

Cons: The fan IS stuck at 100% from what I recall, but it's relatively quiet and no problem for me. Takes up two spaces in your computer, which means it covered up a (fortunately unused) PCI slot in my computer. Required a bit more power than the borked 8800GT it replaced, but I needed a new PSU anyways. May be surprised at what graphical settings are too high, as games like GTAIV can't be run on very high graphics.

Other Thoughts: Great, great card. Not the best out there, but for the price, it does what it does very well. It replaced my old, borked EVGA nVidia 8800GT. Though not much better, it certainly is a step up. Wish I had the money for one of the new ones (the Fermi line? If I recall correctly), but that's a complaint for another time.

1 out of 5 eggsno fan control

Pros: performance is decent and price is cheap

Cons: 1. no fan control, fan always runs at 100%.
2. and no spidf cable, you need it for HDMI audio.
this is the newer GTS 250 model from EVGA and they got rid of the upper two stuff to save the cost? 50 cents? so disappointed

Other Thoughts: this is not a bad card, I am just extremely unhappy about what EVGA did to cut the cost of this card.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card for the price range

Pros: I decided to upgrade to something that could handle not only my 3D games, but also my 3D studio apps (Blender, poser, Daz3D) and render short animation consisting of 300 to 3000 frames in less than 24 hours. This card not only Far exceeds me expectations for both requirements, but also produces a 5000 ppd average for Folding@Home. (A genuine plus)

Cons: None really, a little noisy, but hey it runs at 100% with a slight OC (700MHz core/1700 Shader).

Other Thoughts: Do Not expect this card to run on a 450 watt PSU!! I burnt out my Dual Rail 500 watt PSU in less than 8 hours by running this bad boy. It didn't have a PCIe connector so I used the adapter it comes with (Throw it away!!!)

Do yourself a favor and buy a 600 or 700 watt PSU - Dual Rail or better, and make sure it has good solid PCIe plugs.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card, bad fan

Pros: This is a great card for the price, don't get me wrong. It was able to play the Starcraft II beta on the High settings without having to overclock.

The software included is fairly useful, the EVGA Precision is at least a halfway decent overclocking and monitoring tool, but it falls behind when compared to what I can do with the NVidia software.

EVGA tech support was very good, although I am still waiting to get my rebate.

Cons: The card ran perfectly fine for about a week, but then the fan broke. It seems the torque was high enough to make the cheap plastic split down the middle. I had to RMA the card directly to EVGA.

Also the drivers for the card have made my onboard video drivers corrupt for some reason - even updating or rolling back the drivers do nothing to help. I basically BSOD the first time I start up, though the restart works fine. I think it's just my mobo.

Fan speed is permanently stuck at 100%, but that isn't a bother for me. It just means my card keeps at its top cool all the time.

Other Thoughts: If the blasted thing hadn't broken on me it would have been a full five eggs. The free games - which are actually THREE free games instead of two - are nice and show off the card's capabilities. This is my first time buying from EVGA and I'm more or less satisfied, other than the whole issue with the fan.

The fan is extremely quiet when it works, assuming it works. I'm not sure what a couple people have posted about with the noise.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Card

Pros: The card is shorter than I expected and fits in my small case well. It runs my games EXTRAORDINARILY well, especially in comparison to my old 9500 GT. It's got great ventilation and overall works well.

Cons: It may say it's a 2 slot card, but it's really a 3 slot card. You wouldn't be able to fit anything in the open slot below it. Luckily I don't have anything to put in the slot below it so I'm all set there. I still think it should be a 1 slot card. As mentioned in the other reviews, the fan is loud. However, with the software included (EVGA Precision), you can manually change the fan speed.

Other Thoughts: I don't know what happened with that one guy who didn't get the power adapter. Mine included it although I didn't need it.

Great card, especially for this price (plus the $25 rebate I got). Don't hesitate buying this card.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressed

Pros: Impressive performance. Much better than expected. This video card with a entry-level Core i3-530 system is able to play all games I've tried at 1680 x 1050 with all settings maxed. All steam games work great!

Runs fairly cool compared to prior series graphics cards. My system with poor case ventilation runs this card @ 50C idle, 65C under load.

Short enough to fit in almost any case.

Not too heavy, doesn't "sag" in the PCIe slot.

Cons: By far the loudest component in my system. HOWEVER, the fan volume is equal to that of other mid-high end graphics cards I have used.

This model is cheaper and doesn't have the full-metal surround style heatsink. The heatsink is fairly cheap looking, but it has held up well so far.

Has 1 x DVI & 1 x VGA (in addition to the HDMI) instead of 2 x DVI ports. Cannot connect to dual DVI input monitors without adapter. I would have much preferred 2 x DVI and the HDMI port and a DVI-I to VGA adapter included.

Other Thoughts: Well worth the price, but don't expect a top performer when you're buying in this price range.

Evga customer support is second to none! Make sure to register the product. They have a *very* nice, intuitive account page that lists all your EVGA products with direct links to each products warranty status, RMA, trouble tickets, drivers, and other support.

5 out of 5 eggsAWESOME!

Pros: I upgraded from an nvidea geforce 6100 and i must say this purchase was WAY worth the price!!! I had never installed a graphics card before and i never read the manual yet it was simple to figure out. i litterally just played wow for 1 hour the fan is surprisingly quit and everything comes ready to go in the box. just slip it in connect three cables and your ready to roll!

Cons: ...

Other Thoughts: shipping was super quick too! go new egg and go evga and go nvidea! did i mention that it comes with free physX? it comes 3d compatible.

4 out of 5 eggsnice card but fan is loud

Pros: - Nice card, at least as long as it was usable (see below)
- Comes with power adapter and DVI to vga adapter. It does take up a couple of slots but you should expect that anyway; however, it was not too long (about 9 inches, I think) to interfer with SATA ports, etc, on the motherboard.
- EVGA tech support is great once you get to the 2nd level.

Cons: Fan is loud and speed cannot be adjusted through software according to EVGA tech support. Mine was stuck at 65% at around 40 degrees. I never got the chance to see if it would speed up with higher temps. Might try to hook it up to a speed controller when I get the card back from RMA.

Other Thoughts: Don't try flashing the bios with the 1150 update in the evga tech forums ... it will brick the card. (another admission by tech support). Read that to fix the fan issue, flash the bios with iso on the forum that was provided by someone in tech support. Apparently, it was not for ALL GTS 250's but they failed to say that. I contacted evga tech and they confirmed that it would brick the card and it would have to be RAM'd. They said something about the HD versions not having adjustable fans for some reason, which doesn't make sense ...

I'm taking away 1 egg for the fan speed design, another egg for the misleading info in there forums by EVGA and giving on egg back for the 2nd level tech support and RMA process, even though it's going to take a couple of weeks.

4 out of 5 eggsGTS 250 -TR 512MB

Pros: This card is quiet despite running at 100% fan speed all the time, especially compared to my GTX260 @ 100%. I've got it in an Antec Three Hundred Case with 4 case fans and I can barely tell the computer is even on. This card has the BEST price/performance ratio out there. Only a couple bucks cheaper than the next best card for price/performance and can give 15-30% better performance.

Cons: No fan control in EVGA Precision, but not a big deal since it's quiet to me. Not much overclocking room. I think EVGA tested a bunch of GTS 250's and picked the one's that were stable at the slowest speeds and sold them as a crippled version. That's fine with me at this price. Only 2 year warranty but at that time I will want to upgrade anyways. Also, this card is not eligible for EVGA's Step Up program.

Other Thoughts: I use this in my wife's computer with an 18.5" widescreen monitor @ 1366x768 res. This card coupled with an Intel E5300 @ 2.6 Ghz and 4GB RAM is the perfect combination and plays all games at max settings. Mass Effect 2 avg. 60+ FPS, Crysis DX10 Very High avg. 27 FPS. This card is extremely good for price. Recommend this card, especially because it's from EVGA the best Manufacturer out there. Thanks EVGA and Newegg for a great product!
