3 out of 5 eggsnot an improvment

Pros: Affordable and easy to install.

Cons: Bought this several months ago to replace a Zotac GT420 that was failing. I ran the Windows Experience test with it & it scored significantly lower than what it replaced. I only use it for simple graphics tasks, no gaming or any hard gruntwork. After upgrading to a new MSI motherboard & Samsung SSD this past weekend, I'm getting display errors with it, have removed/reinstalled most current drivers, but it is still flickering & even when on standby it pops up display error message when brought out. Guess I'll chuck it in the bin & get another GT420...

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

The WEI is unfortunately not an accurate ranking of system perfomance. However, the other issues you are describing would be a problem. This product should be under warranty. Please contact us at 888-881-3842 so we can work with you on this matter.

Thank you,
Brandon B

3 out of 5 eggsPoor documentation

Pros: Cheap, dual link DVI, supports 2560x1600 resolutions, It can be made to work.

Cons: Poor documentation, Drivers on disk would not install on XP, Downloaded drivers caused blue screen on XP when dual link DVI monitor was plugged into single link DVI port. Has 3 outputs, can only drive two monitors at a time. does not come with a mini HDMI to HDMI adaptor.

Other Thoughts: I bought this because the company provided monitors & video cards do not have enough resolution to propely display a schematic or PDF data sheet. I bought a 2560x1440 monitor from *elsewhere* to go with it. Nowhere in the documentation, or labeling on the board itself does it mention which port supports dual link DVI. This is a problem since the monitor I bought only works with dual link DVI, and the video card driver bluescreens XP if you plug the monitor in the wrong port. Also nowhere in the manual does it state that this video card only supports 3 DVI links. I think it may support 3 monitors if none of them is using dual link DVI but I could not test this as I only had two single link DVI monitors. In any case with a dual link DVI 2560x1440 monitor, and two single link 1920x1200 monitors connected, only two of these monitors could be enabled at a time.
When installing the drivers, the drivers on the disk failed to install.
The downloaded drivers installed but bluescreend windows. It took me a while to figure out that I needed to move the dual link DVI cable from the middle DVI connector to the end DVI connector to avoid the bluescreen. I also had to keep the original video card installed to be able to drive all three monitors.

5 out of 5 eggsFine bottom-end card

Pros: If you just need to connect a display to a computer, with no heavy video demands, no gaming, etc., this is a great choice. EVGA quality is legendary, and this little card won't take much power to do its job.

Cons: None really.

5 out of 5 eggsRuns Sims 3 great!

Pros: This card is a nice cheap alternative to the mid to enthusiast level cards. Used it on a non-Gamer friend's build and she says it runs Sims 3 great. Relatively quiet and runs decently cool

Cons: I'm not sure if it's the motherboard or the graphics card but the monitor only displays when plugged into the upper DVI port, not the lower one.

Other Thoughts: Great card

4 out of 5 eggsGood card

Pros: Overall, it's a pretty good card. Though, I ran Team Fortress 2 (TF2) & a couple of other games (Left 4 Dead 2, Alan Wake, Minecraft) & was disappointed not to see them run faster. TF2 I know what it was like on the old ATI 256MB card on Vista 32-bit, so I though a 1GB card on Win 7 32-bit would rock!

Alan Wake is a new game I bought & with all the fog, the game crawls. Minecraft was sluggish at first, worst than the old card, but then it improved & has been running great.

I put this in an old box, a Dell OptiPlex E521, CPU, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5000+, 2.60 GHz. I've upgraded the RAM to 4 GB, Win 7 Pro 32-bit only sees 3 GB & added a 1TB drive (HGST Deskstar 7K1000.C 0F10383 1TB 7200 SATA 3.0Gb/s).

RAM upgrade: Crucial 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model CT2KIT12864AA667 (bought 2 kits).

I'm assuming my CPU is holding it back. Granted this isn't some fancy $300 video card, but it's better than I had. I'm holding off buying Bioshock Infinite, as I'm wondering if my system will run it in a playable state. Upgraded this old PC, I couldn't afford buying a new one.

Cons: Gave a 4 rating due to not running my games faster. I'm not sure if it's the video card or my CPU or something else. I do have a Samsung 24" SyncMaster T240HD monitor\HDTV, but I would think if mt old ATI 256MB card could drive that monitor, a 1GB card shouldn't have an issue.

Other Thoughts: For the sale price, it was a good deal. Got it for $54.99 in Nov. 2012.

5 out of 5 eggsworth it

Pros: cheap, good benchmarks(for the price), runs cool.

Cons: ummmm........ its not a 690? other than that I cant think of a con.

Other Thoughts: installed easily, drivers were on disk. packaged well by newegg(whats new?) extremely cheap for what you get. Huge upgrade from onoard in my buddy's computer as i got for his birthday. I personally run a 550 Ti fermi because its good for what i do and was relatively cheap but if i was on a budget i would not shy away from this model. idles at about 39*C with stock cooling and reaches about 70 under heavy load such as Tera or WoW. Runs at about mid 50's in League of Legends and he gets 60 frames in most games on high settings (not ultra). All in all i would recommend this card to anyone on a budget build or looking for a cheap upgrade from onboard video.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat video card twith great customer service.

Pros: Much like cars, I hesitate to work on my computer and usually leave it to a pro. My reason for buying this video card is for dual monitors for work, and not gaming. Using EggXpert's forum, I was able to find the correct card for my computer and received the video card promptly. EVGA's customer service was excellent. Very polite and patient, and I was able to get the dual monitors working after three calls. Inexpensive card, fast shipping, Excellent customer service from EVGA, and a hesitant beginner was able to install it easily.

Cons: None so far other then a few minor hurdles installing. Great customer service made remedying the problems easy.
