2 out of 5 eggs10 eggs for Newegg. ZERO eggs for Powercolor

Pros: Newegg's service was exemplary as always. The card worked just fine WHEN it worked.

Cons: After about 3 months the fan on the card became quite loud then quit working completely, causing the card to overheat..shutting down my system. My first attempt at contacting Powercolor for an RMA resulted in an email in Chinese. Once I was finally directed to the correct website, I was able to submit a request, and was informed that I would receive an RMA number and further instructions after the request was reviewed. I waited and waited and waited. Finally the site showed an RMA number, but no instructions on how and where to return the card have been received. Two additional emails requesting the information have gone unanswered... So I sit with a useless card, and a bad taste for Powercolor's lack of service.

Other Thoughts: I never received the rebate either.

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT holdover card

Pros: Great performance under Windows 7, OS X Snow Leopard (I dual boot). Runs GTA IV, Just Cause 2, Modern Warfare 2, Starcraft 2 in Win 7 like a dream in 1920 x 1080. Works wonderfully with Snow Leopard, HDMI and all (with a bit of work), CS5 can totally utilize Snow Leopard's fancy new video card implementation (again, with a bit of work).

Cons: Kind of a pain in my rear to get all of the proper kexts installed for OS X 10.6 (not enough to take an egg off, though!)... Windows 7 picked up everything without a hitch.

Other Thoughts: I don't care at all about DX11 right now, this card will run pretty much any modern game like gangbusters. SC 2, GTA IV, MW2, and Just Cause 2 have defaulted to (nearly) all max settings, and they all look just BEAUTIFUL in 1920 x 1080. For ~$100 (with rebates and one of Newegg's radical promos), this is a FANTASTIC card! A++.

4 out of 5 eggsshoddy 24p

Pros: Plays Bioshock at 1920x1080 with everything maxed.
Nice cooler.

Cons: Choppy 24p output.
No DVI>HDMI dongle.

Other Thoughts: Bioshock's the only game I've tried so far. I'm a mild gamer but the performance in that game is perfect.
I was very disappointed in the 24p performance in Windows 7 x64. I tried a DVD and a 1080p AVC video at 10mbps. I'm still experimenting with drivers, media players and trying to eliminate overhead. I'll try to update this review if I sort it out.
I don't think this has anything to do with Powercolor; it's an AMD thing.
If you want 24p and don't want to take a chance, do some Googling. It appears that the Nvidia and Intel IGPs are much better at 24p. Shocking, but that's what I get for assuming a modern discrete chip would have the advantage.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Graphics card

Pros: -runs all my games nicely, all these on high settings with decent fps: TF2, L4D, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Dirt 2, DOW2 etc.
-stays cool

Cons: bit power hungry compared to 5770/4770

Other Thoughts: More than enough for a casual/budget gamer in my opinion
this is my second powercolor gpu and neither have let me down yet.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks like a charm!

Pros: For an average college student who has basic understanding of html/javascript/computer software and hardware this baby worked just fine on my first build.

Playing games like Mw2/BFBC2/L4D2 High settings on 19" with no problems.
Still have to try my HDMI once I get a 22", but so far nothing wrong

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Mobo: Asus rampage gene II LGA 1366 X58
Ram: G. Skill Ripjaws Series 4GB(2x 2Gb) DDR3 1600
HD: Wester Digital Black Caviar 500gb
Power Supply: Etasis ET750 True
Video Card: Powercolor HD Radeon 4850

5 out of 5 eggsBang for the Buck

Pros: Setup went flawless and works great in its price range. Plays all my games in 1080 without any problems. Its not a power card but does plenty. Heatsink/Fan is adequate got descent airflow in my case so no heat problems.

Cons: None found; been working almost 24/7 since install in Feb 10.

2 out of 5 eggsWARNING

Pros: I have the 512mb memory version of this card, purchased from Newegg. The card has potential, but it has a serious flaw. Be warned. I'm not the first reviewer to report this problem. My card runs slow. On the plus side it runs cool since it is running slow.

Cons: My card runs at PCI-e 1.0 speed even though it is a PCI-e 2.0 rated card. That greatly inhibits its performance with the result that my 3 year old nVidia 7900GS card out performs this ATI chipset 4850 video card. That just shouldn't be.

Other Thoughts: The fan is a bit loud. It would be a better card if it had a thicker, quieter fan and was built in a two slot form factor.

That and if it ran at it's rated bus speed, of course.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card, even pretty quiet

Pros: Great efficiency, runs fine on a 80+ certified PSU rated for 400Watts with a mildly oc'ed quad core and 4GB ram + 5 HDD RAID5. 1GB of VRam is nice for games like GTA IV, but overkill for many others if you are not at least at 1080i resolution.

Cons: If it is pushed in a warmer than average case the fan will start to get a bit loud, but nothing you will hear with any game sounds.

Other Thoughts: Sub $90 best card on the market.
