Excellent card when working
- Pros: Great price/performance, DX11, low power usage, very quiet cooling solution. Was my first choice when I decided to build a new gaming computer.
- Cons: Crashes randomly during gameplay on all games tested, even if GPU load is not very high (around 80-90%). Tempererature is not high as well when it crashed (75C) according to GPU-Z logs. Sometimes the screen becomes full of beige thin vertical stripes. These are all on stock speeds (I'm not interested in an overclock since my processor is a bottleneck anyway).
I'm not sure if this is a driver issue (Catalyst 9.11). I'm not sure if I should RMA this or not, will try to investigate further. I already uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers.
- Other Thoughts: While investigating, I tried to run "Autotune" in the Catalyst Control Center, I get a screen full of green vertical strips with hints of of red/yellow right from the start. I'm not sure if this is normal when running Autotune, again, will try to investigate further.
I hope I find the answer soon as I don't want the hassle of returning this and then buy a different card.
DOA
- Pros: Newegg RMA'd the card with no problems.
- Cons: Card was DOA.
- Other Thoughts: I was excited about a DX11 card, and am upgrading from a 9600GT.
5770
- Pros: Reasonably priced
Overclocks well Hottest temp is 68 C'
- Cons: Card takes two slots, but that doesn't effect me
I took 1 egg away because I couldn't get drivers off the internet to run, I had to go into device manager and run the install through that.
- Other Thoughts: So far this card is GREAT. Way better than my radeon 4830, this runs "The Last Remnant" without any problems. (yet to test anything else)
3dMark Vantage gave a 9400 with it being overclocked on performance settings
Full 5 stars if I didn't experience the driver issue, which shouldn't be there. Will update this if anything goes wrong, Would also recommend purchasing
