2 out of 5 eggsTerrible experience

Pros: Cheap card, long warranty

Cons: Terrible RMA service, poor quality product

Other Thoughts: I've had this video card for a while now and have had nothing but trouble from it. I'm currently experiencing hangups when the GPU is under stress from dang near any 3d game. Random freezes with messages about display driver crashing, etc.

So I RMA'd it. Powercolor determined through their 'tests' that nothing was wrong with the card so they sent it back to me. Lo and behold I have changed every other component of the computer (motherboard, cpu, RAM, everything) and the problem persists.

Darn shame too. This will be my first and last experience with ATI and/or PowerColor. Never again, and I strongly recommend against both to anybody reading this!

Manufacturer Response:

Everything that comes in for warranty service is thoroughly tested to ensure the product fails in the manner as described. If the product passes all of our testing procedures, then we deem the product as good as nothing is wrong with it. Please feel free to contact me directly at so that I may be able to further assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

Thank you,

1 out of 5 eggsIncompatible?

Pros: Graphics look great. Never a heat problem. Simple install.

Cons: It may be an incompatiblility, but about a month into using this card I started to get blue screens all showing "ati..." in the error code. I checked drivers/bios update/formatted and reinstalled OS - nothing fixed the blue screens. When I put the card into another system its fine. Not sure what the problem is. I've swapped every part of my system out and no solution. I am now just assuming there is an incompatibility with my motherboard. Going to try and return.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat...except the frame rates.

Pros: Small card, can run with a small PSU, good for a gamer on a budget

Cons: Frame rates were inconsistent, card ran hot.

Other Thoughts: Even though I thought this would be a great card to put in my machine to replace my old/dying GeForce 9600 GT, I was dead wrong. Card went in fine, my PSU is plenty powerful for this card, but my games would NOT run smooth. Left 4 Dead 2, GTA IV, Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, nothing. Nothing ran with smooth frame rates. FRAPS, in game counters all reported 60 FPS (or more with Vsync @ 60Hz!!! That's very wrong!). I am seriously disappointed and I WILL NOT purchase another PowerColor product again.

5 out of 5 eggsawesome card for the money

Pros: I'm getting amazing framerates with this card. I'm rockin the phenom II 965 quad core, 4 gigs of ram, Windows 7 Ultimate and this card, and I think it's the best value for gamers on a budget. Crysis, Bulletstorm, BFBC2, and Split/Second all run amazingly well for how much I spent on this card. Most if not all settings are maxed out at a res of 1360x768 (i'm playing on a 32" tv) and I'm getting way better than playable framerates. Plus it kicked up my windows experience index to 7.4, which I'm definitely not complaining about. Insanely huge upgrade from last card I had, which was an extremely inexpensive HD 4350 I bought just so i didn't have to run my pc headless. Put that card in my mom's pc when i got this one, and now bejeweled runs awesome for her.

Cons: this card does not come with a molex 4 pin->6 pin PCI Express power adapter, which means I had to wait about a week after I bought it to actually install it. Not sure if it's my case fans of the fan ON the card, but my PC seems to produce a slightly louder HUM than it did before.

Other Thoughts: Insane affordability for a card of this caliber. Make sure you have a 4 pin molex -> 6 pin pci express power adapter, or the 6 pin connector already on your PSU.

5 out of 5 eggsHD 5770

Pros: A great card for a budget build.Blows the doors off of my previous card(nVidia 8600 GTS).Frame rates 30+ when playing Microsoft FSX with most settings on ultra high, on a 22 inch monitor at 1680x1020 resolution.Runs cool at 40 C.I have not tried to overclock this card. The perfomance is acceptable at stock settings.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: When I first installed the card it would not boot on my old mobo(Gigabyte socket 939 Trion) I had to upgrade the bios(I was excited and in too big of a hurry). The card booted first time after the bios upgrade.I have since upgraded mobo and processor to AMD Phenom X4 955.This setup is awsome for the $400.00 investment(Mobo Asus 790,CPU Phenom X4 955,Memory Corsair XMS 1600,and 600W Thermatake PSW).
What can I say ,except Newegg is the Boss!

5 out of 5 eggsVery impressive card!

Pros: I purchased this late last year for my Dell Optiplex 755 and paid much more for it. However, it is much better than the 9600GT it replaced. I've had no artifacts or crashes with it since I've owned it and I would certainly recommend it if you're a casual gamer on a budget.

Cons: I eventually got tired of the high pitched whine the fan made while under load, so I recently replaced it with a Zalman VF900, which fit it perfectly. Now I can barely hear the thing and the temps are much lower too. I'm hoping it will also preserve the life of the card.

Other Thoughts: This is easily one of the best single slot cards I could find that would fit in my computer. I'm currently running it with a C2duo processor, 6 gigs of ram and a 500wt PS, and so far it handles everything I've thrown at it. And unless it's under full load and running at 100%, I can't even hear it any more! Very Nice!

3 out of 5 eggsDoes not fit in single-slot

Pros: Great performance/price ratio

Cons: In my case, the card was too wide to fit into a single slot. Had to return it. I believe that you the PowerColor AX5770 1GBD5-IDH in order to fit into a single slot.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card

Pros: I am using this along with Phenom II 955 this to play Rift online.
At Ultra settings, V-sync and shadows turned off (2 things that kill fps) I get 50-60 fps.

It's pretty much silent
Idle temps 37C, load 71C.
Consumes <100W

Overclocked to 900core, 1300 mem and rock solid.
Scores 2700 in 3D Mark 11

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: It's completely sufficient until 28nm cards come out later this year.
