5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Runs cool. 30deg C @ 40% fan speed when idle. Mid 50's at 60% fan speed under load using AfterBurner fan control. Smaller than reference design. Gives good FPS for the games I own.

Cons: ATI drivers are not as good or as easy to use as Nvidia's.

Other Thoughts: HD 6950 1gb cards cannot be flashed to unlock additional shaders, at least not until 1gb HD 6970 cards become available. Only 2gb cards are capable of unlocking.

5 out of 5 eggsMine overclocks nicely and it runs COOL

Pros: -Runs extremely cool! The fan design is fantastic and the cooling is what you'd expect. My card overclocked runs at 60-61c during full 100% load over a period of 1 hour. Cooldown after load is also very quick.
-The fans are quiet. Full load only brought the fans to about 60% speed.
-Mine overclocks pretty well. I got the core to hit about 925mhz stable and the memory goes past 1400 (I haven't found the max yet)

After overclocking I got a nice little performance boost of 300 marks in 3dmark11 (P5100->5430)

Cons: -Unlikely to get the shaders to unlock as it's a 1GB model and non-reference PCB. I attempted the unlock anyway and was unsuccessful. With these 1GB non-reference models its no guarantee whether it will unlock or won't unlock. If you want more of a guarantee get a 2GB model with a reference PCB (the standard square looking cooler with a single red fan in the middle). Though AMD has been shipping out laser cut GPUs lately so unlocking will become less likely in the future.

Other Thoughts: While mine didn't unlock to 6970 shader speeds and I am previously coming from a 5870 I am happy with the results. It's not amazingly faster than my 5870, about 10-25% depending on the game, I am happy with the overclockability and cooler on the card. I previously had a PowerColor 5870 with a similar cooling design and was happy with that one too. The only reason I upgraded was because I got a great deal reselling my 5870 and a good deal on buying the new 6950. If I did it over again, I might buy the 2GB model since it wasn't that much more expensive and has better results in unlocking the extra shaders but I would still stick with the non-reference PCB because of the better cooling overall. The unlocked shaders have shown to only get a 1-2% increase anyway over a locked card anyway.

4 out of 5 eggsGamer

Pros: Runs cool. Quiet. Crossfire easily.

Cons: Overclocking is a challenge. Must use charts & research alot. Instability at overclocking. Frame rates in games have little if no improvement & sometimes worse when overclocking. These cards cant handle Physx & were not designed to. My gtx 260's ran Mafia 2 almost as good but with Physx on.The cards do not get the frame rates in games that online research showed. They struggle to keep frame rates above 30 in new games when action is busy.

Other Thoughts: When I overclocked my Phenom X4 965 at the same time as my Radeon cards, the frame rates were a little more in games like Metro & Mafia 2 but only by 2 to 3 frames. Instability though, freezes & crashes. Temperature of cpu & cards were low, Bios updated. Plenty of power with my power supply, etc. Batman Arkham plays real well. Its a fair price for the performance. Newegg is GREAT! So far.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Choice for a 6950

Pros: I chose the PowerColor version not only for the cost savings, but I prefer their hardware design. Having dual fans and an open card design allows my well-ventilated case to help it stay even cooler. This card BTW, only gets up to 63 degrees Celsius under full load in my experience, which is pretty darn good.

Cons: None so far. Just need to upgrade my Core 2 e8400 @ 4ghz now as it's an obvious bottleneck for this card, which is still running max detailed games no problem.

Other Thoughts: Obviously, not the fastest card I could buy at the time of purchase, but after a lot of research, the 6950 delivers excellent bang for your buck and it's crossfire performance makes adding another down the road a great option.
