3 out of 5 eggsLoud Coil Whine

Pros: Fast. Out of this world fast. The speed is addicting. Good sound quality, quiet on idle.

Cons: Loud. Oh, not the fan, that's not bad at all. The card screeches every time its used for 3D. There is a high pitched squealing that has been getting louder. It didn't do it when I opened the card at Christmas, but it has been getting louder and louder. That is much louder than the fan.

Other Thoughts: If the fan were louder it may be able to drown out the sound of the squealing. It is absolutely not the PSU as the card squeals in 2 seperate computers and the only thing common between them is this card.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Card, Bad cooler

Pros: This card is good. I have been running it for 2 weeks straight mining altcoins at 870 k/hs stable.

Cons: The cooler sucks.

Other Thoughts: I bought this card knowing that the cooler sucked so no eggs off.
Got it at 400 and now these cards are at 500-530.
People be crazy.

1 out of 5 eggsBlack screen crash a few times a day

Pros: Performance is ok

Cons: Crashes every day now. Doesn't have to be during a video game or something intensive. Screen goes black and refuses to boot up. I have a second card, if I boot up using that, the main card is not detected. Main card starts working again after a hard reset using the PSU. Checked online and this problem is endemic in some models of the r9 290 and 290X. AMD hasn't released a proper solution. Never buying amd again. NEVER. Had two 580s before these and I NEVER had a problem. I bought $400 bricks.

3 out of 5 eggsBlack Screens

Pros: When it worked correctly, it was a GREAT card, by far the best I have ever owned. Played all games on absolute MAX settings including AA and all that good stuff. At the time the price for performance was very good as well (it has since gone up by $100).

Cons: It would occasionally give me the notorious black screen issue, only fix was to reboot the computer and then it would play fine for a few hours and happen again. Returned the card for a exchange hoping I would have better luck and that process turned into a bit of a fiasco (see below)

Other Thoughts: Upon receipt of my card by Newegg, the exchange was changed to a refund due to stock issues. This would not have been that big of a deal if Newegg hadn't hiked the price $100 since I originally ordered the card (not to mention I got it for 5% off list too!). I ended up getting it sorted out and have another card on the way but it wasn't what I would consider "easy" (thank you Ty, I think that was your name...) Three stars for a great card when it works and for Newegg eventually making good on the deal but having to deal with a bit of a hassle to get there.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Value

Pros: Unlocked to 290x. Runs BF4 (xfire) 2560x1600 all Ultra @ 80-100+ FPS. Mining SCRYPT at 840+Kh/s each card. Excellent cards.

Cons: None that I can think of. Both cards are <77C while mining, even cooler in game. Reference fans are loud but my tower is in the other room so I DGAF.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome Card, reference design

Pros: Very powerful card for the price
Runs BF4 on ultra settings 80fps
Mines lite-coins at around 850kh
Picked it up for 400 bucks
Got a lucky batch and flashed it to a 290x

Cons: Fan is very loud above 70% speed
300 Watt draw overclocked (not too bad a con)
Runs super hot 80-90c under load

Other Thoughts: Don't let anyone fool you, if you mine with this thing or run at ultra HD settings, the fan is frigging loud just to keep this thing cool and at a reasonable temperature. I would say wait for non reference designs.

Otherwise it overclocks like a dream and runs all games at max settings with at least 60fps.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: When Purchased was only 399 so a superb deal for the power provided. Worked amazingly well for a few days than nothing but crashes even when doing nothing but sitting idle.

Cons: Defective after less than a week. Constant crashes and hardlocks of computer after days of stability.

Can look up the issue and will find it is widespread in the 290 and 290X cards.

Other Thoughts: Putting in RMA. Card was fantastic for first few days then went to junk. Hopefully replacement is better

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card

Pros: Great card right out of the box. Very fast and great performance without any tweaking.

Dual bios.

Cons: Powercolor lists the dimensions of the card at 10.5". The reference card is close to the spec, but with the stock cooler the card is closer to 10.8". It's a tight fit in the case.

The ATI drivers...

Other Thoughts: The listed 750W PSU requirement seems a bit overkill for a single board. Seems to run fine on an Antec 650W and Rosewill 630W at full load.

Others have noted how loud the card is under load. I haven't noticed the card yet, but maybe that's because the sound is inaudible over BF3/4.

4 out of 5 eggsLoud but unlocks

Pros: Fast card when you let the fan run where it wants and all 4 of my cards unlocked to 290x's. Getting about 815 Khash/s litecoin mining with default clocks, 32765 TC, with fans and TDP set to max.

Cons: About a 300w power draw, loud fan, and long un-attractive card. In addition 1 of the 4 cards is not stable during litecoin mining.

Other Thoughts: Not worth the $500 Newegg wants for it now, but worth the $400 msrp if you don't mind the noise. I'd recommend setting the fans to 60% if you don't want them throttling at all.

5 out of 5 eggsBest card ever bought

Pros: Amazing performance

Cons: Nothing

Other Thoughts: This card OC's like a beast, currently benchmarking @ 1270 Clock 1500 Memory on reference air cooler
