how many watts from a psu will i need to run this gpu?

I have a 600 watt power supply in my htpc and it handles it just fine. Its a hard question to answer because nobody knows what other loads you have other than your video card. All of them add up. Cpu, hard drives,CD or DVD drives,RAM, video, other peripherals driven by usb.

Get a bigger supply than you need. I got one of the newer supplies that are 80+ efficient and have power factor correction. It's quiet as a mouse. A too small power supply will have it's fans running on high to try to keep up and that makes it noisy.

Question 2

Can I use a DVI to VGA adapter on this card? My monitor is a little old and I need a new video card.

Yes, this card uses 2 DVI-I connectors, so you can use a DVI to VGA adapter.
In general, you cannot use a DVI-D connector to drive a VGA monitor since DVI-D only supports digital interfaces, whearas DVI-I supports BOTH digital and analog - VGA is analog.  You can tell the difference because a DVI-I connector has four pin connectors surrounding the flat slot at one end - the DVI-D connector is missing those 4 pin connectors.

This would be a decent upgrade but you may want to wait a little bit and see how the next gen shakes out.  Should get a bit more bang for your buck shortly

So. I have a,  Raidmax ATX-605BT, and i was wondering it if was going to fit. I can't find anywhere that tells about it's size. Can someone tell me the specs about it? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

On an ATX board the ax7870 fits with room to spare on the board.  My only difficulty, and it was not anymore than a annoyance, is the 2 power cords to the ax7870 came close to the premounted hard drive sata mount.  An side mount sata cord  or just not putting the ssd or hd behind ax7870 would eliminate this annoyance.

I personnally have a  Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case.

Question 5

Can this run 3 monitors simultaneously? I have twin 24 LCD's and a 60" Plasma.  I don't have time for the research and need a card soon.  Thanks.

From everything that I have seen with it, it can. There is a big picture on the front of it saying that it will support up to 4 monitors.  It does only have 1 HDMI out though, so you'd have to get some adapters if you want to hook more than one up with HDMI. I believe the output are 1HDMI, 2 DVI, and 2 mini display ports

Yes, BUT you would be replacing a 5 year old card with a 3 going on 4 yo card... it is  an improvement but probably not enough to justify the price as you could easily get more bang for your buck with other cards.

If the R9 270x is supposed to be a rebranded HD 7870 Ghz Edition (but with a different RAM clock), why is the 7870 a Pitcairn XT chip and the 270x a Curacao XT chip?

That means they're NOT the same, doesn't it?  What differences should I expect?

It is still the same hardware spec wise:  1280 GPU cores/80 Texture Units/32 ROPs, 256-bit memory bus, and GDDR5 Memory.

The 270X changes are as follows:

1050/1400 standard clocks(compared to 1000/1200), Option for 4GB of RAM instead of just 2GB, Higher memory bandwidth because of RAM clocks, and support for DirectX 11.2

They have refined the chip, and as a result you get better clocks out of the box.  Many of the 270X carry a fairly solid OC out of the box beyond 270X reference specs because of better GPUs overall.

DirectX 11.2 ensures you will have all of the latest eye-candy options available in the newest games, and games to come.

The 4GB cards are a nice option for those looking to Xfire 270X cards.  The extra RAM will help future proof the cards as games become more and more demanding in that area.  I have a Devil 270X and it performs almost exactly at 50% of my 290, which has exactly twice as many GPU cores.  Xfire scaling is pretty solid these days, so you can practically double the performance with Xfire; and you have the benefit of being able to buy one now and another later.

Question 9

If I were to crossfire this card would it be likely to overheat? I'm asking because Verified Owners have been saying that it runs at high temperatures.

I have only one and it increments the temperature considerably. Now with 2 of them I suspect it will be hot. Even tho I don't believe you will have major problems. Its own cooling system is pretty good. The only recommendation I could give is: Get a proper power supply. That means, a power supply that supports a double (in this case 4) 6 pin plug. I used a splitter because my Power Supply didn't have a dual 6 ping plug and I fried that PS.
