5 out of 5 eggsGood Card

Pros: Card ran most everything I wanted at great fps. 256mb/256 bit memory. Scores 5.9 in vista (but what doesnt now :) Worked like a champ up to the day it died.

Cons: After about 7 months one of the DVI ports quit. about 8 months later (3 days ago) the other quit.

Other Thoughts: WoW on 1600x1050 all settings up no probs, far cry at max no probs, tabula rasa at high getting around 25 fps...great card for the $

5 out of 5 eggsPNY 7900 GS

Pros: This things blows every game I throw at it with 4 and even 8x AA and 16x AF. Maybe thats because I Game at 1280x1024 and play games 2006 and before. Not too hot.

Cons: Its longer than the reference model.

Other Thoughts: E6750, Xion Stacker, Ultra XVS 700W PSU, Gigabyte GA P-35 DS3R, XP SP2 32bit, 2 GB PC6400 DDR2 A-Data, 250 Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 16mb cache. I can play Rome Total War with 8000 pople on the screen at once without it bogging down. I previously had a pathehtic Fx 5500 (PCI, 64-bit 128 MB DDR, 250/400mhz, 4 pixel pipelines). The difference is like Upper and Lower class.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Good Ones Are Pretty Good

Pros: Cheap, quiet, pretty fast

Cons: Quality control

Other Thoughts: Earlier I complained that this card was noisy, that the fan annoyingly changed speeds frequently, and that mine died after 8 hours of use.

The replacement is much better. It's hardly audible, and I can't hear the fan spooling up and down.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: I ordered this card to SLI it with an EVGA 7900GS card in a Dell XPS 600. The EVGA was the same card except for a slightly faster clock speed. Has been running for nearly a month with no problems and using the stock fan. The Dell XPS 600 has very good case cooling features. I made sure I downloaded from NVIDIA the current driver and NTUNE to allow the two cards to SLI together. Then installed the card in the second PCI-E slot, connected the spare 6-pin power dongle, and remembered to add the SLI bridge. Started the computer and looked for probelms. I had to restart the computer to get NTUNE to recognize the SLI video card option. Selected SLI in NTUNE and now see much higher FPS rates. Temps are around 58 deg C. Warm but tolerable. Minimal fan noise.

Cons: None except it isn't DX10, but who needs that now anyhow.

Other Thoughts: Excellent service with Newegg!!

3 out of 5 eggsInfant Mortality

Pros: Top-shelf DX9 performance at a bargain price, very manageable size / power / cooling requirements.

Cons: Noisy fan, questionable build quality.

Other Thoughts: Died after perhaps 8 hours of use, most of which was spent on the Vista Aero desktop, not even game-playing. When the system was idle, the fan on this card was the loudest thing in it. And it's louder under load. Use with Vista Aero causes the fan to change speeds frequently, which can be annoying.

5 out of 5 eggsdoes what its supposed to

Pros: Good value. I run Half Life 2: episode 2 on maxed graphics at 1280x1024 just fine.

Cons: played the crysis demo at medium graphics, and it was still the best looking game ive ever seen. little bit of FPS lag though.

Other Thoughts: Im going to get another and SLI it with my current card. then i dont think ill be able to handle crysis much better.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: A nice price for a nice video card. Does everything I ask it to with no problems.

Cons: Minor driver issue. Drivers that shipped with the card locked up W2k and WinXP pro. Downloaded the latest drivers and everything worked fine.

Other Thoughts: A good card to buy and not break the bank.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Bang for Your Buck!

Pros: Awesome card! I was debating between an X1900GT and this, and I ended up choosing this card for a secondary machine. This card is plenty fast and overclocks very well. Doesn't require much power and is MUCH cheaper than any other 7900GS I've seen listed.

Cons: The stock HSF is somewhat small. It cools alright.

Only 30% fan duty cycle under full load.

Other Thoughts: The stock cooler cools okay, but the fan duty cycle is only 19% when in 2D and in high power 3D its only at 30%, so there's much more potential in the stock cooler alone by increasing the fan speed.

I'm normally very biased towards Leadtek products, but after this purchase of the PNY 7900GS, I'm not at all leary of their quality. They seemed to keep getting better as time goes on. Don't hesitate with this purchase if you're looking for a performance card on a budget.
