Good Card
- Pros: Card ran most everything I wanted at great fps. 256mb/256 bit memory. Scores 5.9 in vista (but what doesnt now :) Worked like a champ up to the day it died.
- Cons: After about 7 months one of the DVI ports quit. about 8 months later (3 days ago) the other quit.
- Other Thoughts: WoW on 1600x1050 all settings up no probs, far cry at max no probs, tabula rasa at high getting around 25 fps...great card for the $
PNY 7900 GS
- Pros: This things blows every game I throw at it with 4 and even 8x AA and 16x AF. Maybe thats because I Game at 1280x1024 and play games 2006 and before. Not too hot.
- Cons: Its longer than the reference model.
- Other Thoughts: E6750, Xion Stacker, Ultra XVS 700W PSU, Gigabyte GA P-35 DS3R, XP SP2 32bit, 2 GB PC6400 DDR2 A-Data, 250 Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 16mb cache. I can play Rome Total War with 8000 pople on the screen at once without it bogging down. I previously had a pathehtic Fx 5500 (PCI, 64-bit 128 MB DDR, 250/400mhz, 4 pixel pipelines). The difference is like Upper and Lower class.
The Good Ones Are Pretty Good
- Pros: Cheap, quiet, pretty fast
- Cons: Quality control
- Other Thoughts: Earlier I complained that this card was noisy, that the fan annoyingly changed speeds frequently, and that mine died after 8 hours of use.
The replacement is much better. It's hardly audible, and I can't hear the fan spooling up and down.
