Good Bang for the buck
- Pros: Got a rebate deal, so price was pretty good. Built System to replace XP2900 w/ Geforce FX 5900.
Moderate gamer with HL2 and Quake/Doom series. Do some 3D Cad with Solidworks.
For reference play Quake4/Doom3 at Mid Levels on old syst. with most options off.
New system: Athon-X2 5200 2-Gb Ram, + 8600Gt.
Vista would let me play Quake4/Doom3 at High Levels w/ AA off.
XP and Linux (slackware) let me play Quake4/Doom3 and Ultra Levelss with AA off.
I play at 1440x900, AA takes a big hit, but I'll happily play without it in order to pay 1/3 what a 8800+ type cards costs with quality at Max.
For generic opengl 3D Cad stuff, this card had no problems at all . Got card for added HD video acceleration that 7900 cards don't have, only tested in Vista, was GREAT.
- Cons: Not a 8800 series by any means, but has no problem playing most modern games at decent qualit levels.
Drivers in Vista Stable, (much better than first 8xxx series card drivers a few months ago), but not near the fps performance on XP or Linux systems.
- Other Thoughts: If your upgrading from a FX or low level 6xxx/7xxx card, this is nice card for price, but high level 6900/7900 card users won't see any increase in gaming performance.
I've waited LONG time to upgrade from my upper level FX 5900, this is great improvment plus HD acceleration.
My first build
- Pros: Easy to install. Powered only by the Pci-Express slot. Quality of graphics are amazing. Runs about 45-75 fps in oblivion. Quiet.
- Cons: Had to install drivers through the control panel. Otherwise none.
- Other Thoughts: not sure if ntune's adjustments are accurate (600 core/725 bus). Currently using an E6420 @ 2.8ghz, 2gb RAM ballistix tracer, PNY 8600gt, 300gb hard drive.

Good video card, excellent speed on rebate
- Pros: Very solid video card, great performer for World of Warcraft.
Already got my mail in rebate from PNY, and I just sent it in to them.
- Cons: Minor gripe, moreso advice. The sticker in the center of the fan, the glue gets heated up, the sticker gets slightly off center. The fan is weak. Very weak. If the sticker gets unstuck and then restuck to the side of the heatsink it will not spin. It freaked out my wife and I, but is easily fixed. Remove the stupid sticker. :)
Pretty good card
- Pros: Cheap
- Cons: Not cutting edge fast like the 8800 or 9600.
- Other Thoughts: Good card, definately an upgrade from integrated graphics. I can play the Crysis demo at low/medium settings and get around 18-19fps.
Want the card
- Pros: I have seen reviews for the card, and my friend owns this exact same card, He hasn't over clocked but i did it for him. This card is very promising. Managed to get a 680 core clock with this card, im pretty sure i can go higher. But this card is pretty nice in my friends system build. Altho my build is faster, he can run crysis at med-high settings with the core clock very well avg of 30-60 fps on 1024x768. Plan on getting this soon for myself!
- Cons: *see thoughts* None tho
- Other Thoughts: Haven't tried everything high but will do... Friends system build is Athlon 64 X2 4800+, 2gb ddr2 800 mhz, This card, 80gb raptor hd. My Build is a Micro, Specs as follows: AMD Athlon 64 FX-74 3.0 GHZ, 2gb ddr2 800 mem, 80gb HD, *This card soon* *Current is onboard* If anyone wants to see my gaming comp, its on the newegg wishlist thingy board... w/e its called.. lol.. its a cheap powerful system for only $491.84 *this includes shipping*
