It might be great, but it wasn't for me.
- Pros: None - it was a disappointment for me.
- Cons: I bought this to upgrade an 8800 GT system with a Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.4 GHz). I saw a DOWNGRADE in performance over my 8800 GT, making this an unworthy expense for me - hence I returned the card. I'm not sure what caused the problem, but my suspicion was that my motherboard was PCI-E 1.0. I just decided to put off a video card upgrade until my next computer build.
- Other Thoughts: A friend of mine bought a system with the larger memory buffer GTX 260 and reviews show a disparity between the 896 MB and the 1792 MB versions, so research your choice before laying out the funds.
power of sli
- Pros: Picked this up for an sli setup with a different companies gtx 260 I've had for a while. Plugged it in, set SLI to on in the nvidia control panel and that was all it took.
- Cons: Doesn't come with an sli bridge, those only come with motherboards and I had lost the one that came with mine. Not a fault on the part of the card, was just a pain in the behind to find by itself for sale. Got one from an open box mb at Micro Center for like nine bucks.
- Other Thoughts: This is not a core 216 edition, but my other 260 is a first gen and isn't core 216 either. The two (core 216 and 192) will work together, but will work at the speed of the slowest, so if you already have a core 216 edition, don't get this card. If you have a 192 like this card don't waste your money buying a better one, you wont get any additional benefits from the other cores.
Also, for pete's sake people, they've been making this sized card since the GTX and 9 series came out over a year ago, even some of the 8 series cards like the 8800 GTX and Ultra were this big. If you don't have a full tower, it may very well not fit. People have been complaining about that since 2008. Don't buy this if you've got a tiny case and then come back complaining, and for the love of all that is good and ho1y don't list your tech knowledge as high, you're just embarrassing yourself.
!!great!!
- Pros: The price is unbeatable for this kind of quality and graphical power.Runs WOW,cod4,codwaw and fallout 3 like a beast.
- Cons: Its large, but that's only a con if you don't have the room for it.
- Other Thoughts: This card definitely places my faith back in nvidia.
