4 out of 5 eggsDecent Card

Pros: Great price for the cards specs. A very nice upgrade if you are running something old and wish to boost up your performance for a cheap price.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Despite the others complaining about the fan, mines been running all day, every day since I got it. No issues with the fan so far that I have seen/heard. No overheating issues either. Card runs great, handles everything I play and use it for. No issues with it yet. Very happy with it for the price paid.

3 out of 5 eggsFan/Heat issues

Pros: Good processing power. Went from 80 FPS in WoW to 200+
GDDR3 makes a huge difference, wouldn't by some of the 9xxx series because this would actually be faster

Cons: MAJOR heat issues. Fan will work fine most of the time, but randomly it will stop (no warning) or start making really loud grinding noise. Some times I can go hours playing graphicly intensive games and it not cause an issue, other times I can barely get into the game before it over heats and locks up the computer.

Other Thoughts: Expect to have to buy an aftermarket fan, which will run you $30-$60

5 out of 5 eggsDecent card, but not as good as I had hoped.

Pros: It's better than my old PCI card that I used when I had a PCI only mobo.

Doesn't get too hot.

It's a whole lot better than the on board graphics.

Fair price!

Cons: It's not as good as I had hoped. Plays Halflife 2 decently, but with occasional drops into the high 20s (fps) when there's a lot going on.

Other Thoughts: You might want to just shell out another $50-$70 and get a 8800 or 9800 GT which will be the next one I try since this card isn't cutting it for me.

It's does what it's supposed to though and I can't fault it for that.

My case has side vents and this card never goes above 57-58C while playing. Idles at around 53C.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Games are better/smoother. Vibrant colors and video runs very good.

Cons: Software in package was not the latest drivers. Had to uninstall then reinstall plus download drivers from NVIDIA.

Other Thoughts: At least my case runs cooler due to fan on card.

4 out of 5 eggsMeh...

Pros: The hardware is fairly good as expected, especially for a mid-range custom build and you certainly can't complain about the price for performance you get.

Cons: Twitchy software that doesn't integrate well with the motherboard. They seem to work alright by themselves, but the profiles you can create with it for certain applications and the rules you set... not so much. My MSI MB "dualCore" software competes with it so I had to uninstall, which deactivates my ambient case temp information window. Drivers don't always play nice with Ubuntu, though I don't use it daily. Windows Ex-Pee Pro is my current OS of choice on this system.

Other Thoughts: There are always work arounds and 3rd party solutions, but wouldn't it be nice if it all worked together? 4 eggs for great Newegg service and to be fair about the card's hardware.

3 out of 5 eggsFind something else

Pros: Fair price with MIR. Decent performance.

Cons: Fan failed after only 5 weeks.
Fan is only a 2-wire and speed is not controlled, but the noise is not too bad.
There is a deadline for the MIR - so be careful.

Other Thoughts: Spend a few more $ and get a 9600 GSO.

5 out of 5 eggsChaintech

Pros: Bottom line I needed a inexpensive 3D video card, that allows DX 10 in Windows Server 2008. No plan to overclock so can't comment, Not planning to game with card so not tested in that arena.

Cons: None at least for my use.

Other Thoughts: With Rebate best deal for Nvidia 8600 chipset card.
Drivers work well with Server 2008 Enterprise, good color clear video and good 3D windows interface reporduction
