This GeForce 8500GT based card from XFX delivers DX10 performance in absolute silence. The card has a large extruded heat sink covering both the GPU and the 512MB of GDDR2 memory. It has both a dual-link DVI port and a D-Sub port for choice in display connections.

All that power drives the Lumenex engine for lightning fast anti-aliasing and HDR Lighting for stunning realism. The Quantum Effects Technology utilizes advanced shader processors to deliver an entirely new level of physics effects that are rendered on the GPU leaving the CPU free to run the game engine and the AI.

The HDCP compliant dual-link DVI ports allow you to play your HD-DVD and Blu-ray discs.

4 out of 5 eggsCheap Performance

Pros: Cheap, good bang for the buck, no active cooling so doesn't increase overall noise level, good for a computer that you might play an occasional game on. CUDA capable (but not a stats monster, see below). Takes the load off the cpu if you have integrated video like mine.

Cons: None. Does exactly what I want it to, fully meeting expectations.

***hahaaa newegg has a weird wordfilter on reviews***

Other Thoughts: This card runs hot, mine was @ 73c with just with a few apps open. Attached an old athlon cpu fan onto the heatspreader fins, temp dropped 20 degrees, didn't affect noise level at all. I upgraded my work computer with this to do some SETI (with opt app) and light gaming during late nights.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Fanless Card

Pros: Solid construction. Heat sink attached with four spring loaded screws. No wobble. Standard nVidia drivers work fine. Passmark 3D Graphics Mark = 222 on IP Pro/E8400.

ATX cases, use a Rocket V cooler in a PCI slot.
BTX cases, you can screw a Panaflo 80mm to the heat sink.

Cons: Caps are ELCON EEZ series 1000uF/6.3v electrolytics that look like solid polymer, but are not.

Other Thoughts: The Sparkle 9500 GT fanless is slightly faster, for the same price.

5 out of 5 eggsXFX GeForce 8500 GT 512MB

Pros: When used one card on Ubuntu Linux, works perfect.

Cons: When used two cards, and tried SLI them together do not work in Ubuntu Linux. Also, only one DVI if you not doing SLI this is kind of disadvantage.

Other Thoughts: Good Price.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card!

Pros: Was given this card 2007 Christmas along with Bioshock, was able to play Bioshock at 1280x1024 easily. Great for a budget card, plays WoW on default settings in 25 man raids.

Can play Call of Duty 4 on low
Fallout 3 on Medium
Crysis (playable fps) on low

Note I have a PENTIUM 4 and 333 mhz ram in this old piece of junk still.

Cons: Not good for overclocking due to just having a heatsink, but this is a budget card, what do you expect?

Other Thoughts: Love it, gave one to my father who loves it, he has a Core 2 Duo though

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for my needs

Pros: Simple install.
Great to have the ability for dual monitors. although most have these now days.

Cons: With the lack of fan it seems to heat up pretty quick, although I have had no problems this will be remedied with a pci slot fan

Other Thoughts: Perfect for my needs, low tech gamer.

1 out of 5 eggsOh Boy...

Pros: Silent

Cons: Runs hot, like a guy below said, it freezes my computer making you reset the pc and even then it would freeze while starting up the pc. I know it's the card cause when i remove the drivers all is good and the pc never freezes. I installed just about every driver they had and none worked, then i started reading some forums and a lot of people were having lock ups and their computer freezing and what do you know? they had the same card...

Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor and even if you're on a budget just wait a lil longer and save some more money and buy something better

4 out of 5 eggsgreat price

Pros: You get a nice video card for a great price. Like they say and quite with no fan. Plenty of memory for photoshop and regular programs.

Cons: Give up performance and speed so not a gaming card for sure.

Other Thoughts: Think I would spend the extra buck now for a 8800 or 9800

3 out of 5 eggsGreat once I found the right fix

Pros: Worked well in my HTPC, connected to a 1080p Philips 42" TV
Clear picture and fanless design keep everything quiet. Does 1080p HD like a dream

Cons: NVIDIA seems to have known problems with some Philip LCD TVs, required hack around in the driver inf to fix.

Other Thoughts: Other than the compatibility problem is works as expected and for the price was a good upgrade for my media PC

5 out of 5 eggsdoes what it should

Pros: overkill for a windows home server, but what else would I do with the pci-e x16 slot? DVI and DSUB outputs, no fan so it's quiet. Doesn't take up much space.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Price is right.
