5 out of 5 eggsgood

Pros: fast, works with the xfx low profile kit.

Cons: *just* fits in a dell slim tower vostro w/ low profile kit

Other Thoughts: makes 3d stuff really fast.

4 out of 5 eggsLow Cost Gaming Card

Pros: Works fine with 3D games at lower resolution, able to play bioshock, call of duty 4, at 1024 X 768 pixel.

Cons: Its hot, need to put a fan on it to keep it cool.

Other Thoughts: Maximize your gaming by having a good processor and memory.

4 out of 5 eggsGood card for the money

Pros: This is a great low profile card at a very attractive price. It has respectable performance with the latest Linux drivers from NVIDIA. Silent operation.

Cons: Low profile bracket not included. :>(

Other Thoughts: As others have mentioned, the XFX 8400GS runs a bit warmer than a card with a fan. GPU idle temp is 64C inside a Dell Optiplex 755 small form factor at 73F ambient temp. This card is silent and is fine for occasional OpenGL use in an office environment.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent with one monitor

Pros: Low cost, low profile, quiet video card. Using one monitor via the DVI port, whether with DVI or with a VGA adapter, this card performs nicely with Vista, raising the performance of my Slimline machine so that the Vista Aero graphics ran smoothly. Raised the scores, also.

Cons: Using the VGA output, on dark screens, there is a wavy pattern on the screen. On light screens this appears as waves moving up the screen. The svideo out to TV is very dissapointing. Blurry, (some can be expected), and also is shrunken is size so that the picture is pulled in from the edges of the TV screen. And, there is no screen size adjustment in the driver. My older laptop with a Pentium III and older ATI graphics performs much better on the composite video out port to TV.

Other Thoughts: At first, it would only output to TV in B & W. I kept playing with all the driver settings, and all of a sudden it switched to color. Still had a bad picture though.

5 out of 5 eggsvery nice card for the money

Pros: Direct X 10, Silent, Cheap

Cons: not the fastest card, but quite adequate for the casual gamer or perfect for the HTPC.

Other Thoughts: I can play most older games at 1024x768 or 1280x1024 with all settings maxed out. Newer games, you'll need to consider 800x600 for max settings. It's a good card for the ultra cheap price however.

5 out of 5 eggsNice gfx card

Pros: Good graphics card for the money for a budget system, no fans so it is quiet

Cons: Since it is passive cooling the temps get quite warm on it, 65C idle 70+ at load and this is in an AC environment at work. Make sure your case has good airflow or you cna put a fan to blow over it.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks so much better than onboard video

Pros: Benchmarked this vs the onboard Nvidia 6200 and really no comparison. Also against an ATI 2400HD and this was the faster card. Not a gamer card but did let me run a couple of newer games on lower settings.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Easy to install, drivers worked, sped up the computer considerably. Never go with onboard video again.

2 out of 5 eggsNo as per spec

Pros: price, DX10

Cons: Card that I got (not from NewEGG) is only clocked @ 333 (666) not 400 (800). Also Shader is only showing up as 1000 (not 1200 as in specs). Here is the output of Everest:

Memory Clock 333 MHz
GPU Clock (Shader Domain) 999 MHz
GPU Clock (Geometric Domain) 450 MHz
