XFX took the already superb 8800GT GPU and added a cooling system from Zalman to increase the cards efficiency while keeping it even quieter. They loaded 512MB of GDDR3 memory onto the card so you can easily handle today's games. Of course if that isn't enough juice you can add another card in SLI mode.
All that power drives the Lumenex engine for lightning fast anti-aliasing and HDR Lighting for stunning realism. The Quantum Effects Technology utilizes advanced shader processors to deliver an entirely new level of physics effects that are rendered on the GPU leaving the CPU free to run the game engine and the AI.
The built in PureVideo HD Technology was specifically designed to enhance your HD experience. Built in hardware decode acceleration of H.264, VC-1, WMV and MPEG-2 HD and SD movies provides a theater-like experience. The HDCP compliant dual-link DVI ports allow you to play your HD-DVD and Blu-ray discs.

I love this card
- Pros: This is a very well made card. Ive been looking for something like this for a long time, and truthfully didnt expect much since i was coming from a 8800 gs but this card is just amazing. The high quality heatsink on it keeps it from getting too hot, albeit the fact that my room is like a volcano at most times of day. It idles at about 47 degrees but keep in mind my room is extremely well heated, and ive seen it cap at 60 degrees. Chews up everything i throw at it, Including crysis on max settings 16x12 no AA,I can play it at 2x AA without much lag but past that its overkill.
- Cons: I havent gotten any issues with it at this point considering my ownership of it is fairly recent. One of my major quirks though is the fact that they did not include any memory heatsinks to take some strain off the chips. My computer is suxxorz and for that reason i keep the side of the case open with a room fan blowing in at all times, but apparently the zalman cooler keeps the chips sufficiently cool with the excess air coming about, but i can imagine that air is already pretty hot. Another thing is the uneventful packaging that the card was place in. It is reasonably well secured but not enough for this heatsink, as the thin strips of metal are very sensitive and easy to break. The edges of mine were bent inwards, nothing a little improvisation cant fix.
- Other Thoughts: Overall its a very good card, i can only imagine how well this beast chews up crysis in SLI, considering it has been rated higher then the 9800 GX2. Thats right, two of these monsters RAEP the gx2, in most scenarios anyway. I plan on getting another one of these bad boys to up my performance considerably, although i dont even know why as there is nothing i can say or do to slow this monster down. Buy one, now, No as a matter of fact.. Buy Two now.
WORTH IT!!
- Pros: I can play AOC in high quality, and Crysis too, so i think i can play any newest game. WORTH every dollar of this card!!
- Cons: this card is louder than 8600Gt, and it like 50% bigger than 8600GT, so make sure your case have enough space. also so hot too.. This is NORMAL..--;
- Other Thoughts: This work in my Dell Inspiron 530!! It can fit in and power up..so dont hesitate if you need a new video card for your Inspiron 530. You might say wow 350watt PSU how is that possible, well but it possible. Believe it not and i never got any issue or overheat..

good but hot
- Pros: runs fast, eats up pretty much anything i throw at it, have 2 in sli, not 2 zalmans though only 1
- Cons: runs hot, especially in sli. i have a xfx superclocked at 640mhz and this zalman at 600mhz, at idle i am at about 49C under load its about 55C-60C depending on the game, my room is pretty cool too never above 75F
- Other Thoughts: overall a great card especialy if you have sli, runs hot but im going to liquid cool so not a big deal
Awesome card! Awesome price!
- Pros: I purchased this card to run AOC on high settings, if not maxed. I usually get >25-30FPS with highest settings at 1600x1200. So far it has worked without any problems at all (except the game has its fair share of bugs/glitches that need to be worked out). The card seems to be built very well, the heat sink and fan setup by Zalman works awesome. Overclocking to 700/1000 runs as stable as factory presets and temps have never gone over 60C under load according to Nvidia's software. The card's fan is so quiet that it is overshadowed by everything else in the computer, whereas my old 7900gs was so loud I could barely hear games without headphones. I would highly recommend this card to anyone that wants a higher end card at a budget price.
- Cons: None really. The only thing I can think of, is that it's very tempting to overclock this card since temps don't rise very much to squeeze those few extra frames out. Once again though, if you are even semi-conservative with the oc'ing there won't be any problems.
- Other Thoughts: Setup: Intel E6600 CPU, 3GB DDR2 PC-5300, XFX 8800GT (my most prized piece now!), 320GB 7200RPM HD, etc.. As one can see it really doesn't take a beast of a computer to run AOC on the highest settings with this card.
Low price = nice card
- Pros: Great price plus a rebate, transferable lifetime warranty, quiet cooler.
- Cons: No RAM heatsinking, doesn't vent outside the case.
- Other Thoughts: This was the best price for an 8800GT, before the rebate. Assuming that comes through (and I have no reason to doubt it), getting this much video card for so little cash is amazing. I'm coming from a 6800 NU AGP/Athlon 2500+ system, so being able to ramp all my games' settings up is nice.
However, I still wish the cooler vented heat outside the case, instead of recirculating it inside. I used an Antec 300, so the PSU sits down there, but I installed the side 120mm fan to help out. Still, the GPU hasn't topped 60C after 2 hours of Halo 2 on high settings, so the cooling is working.
