Good if you want a noise machine
- Pros: It worked ok for about 3 months of light usage. Never played any games. Mostly for video editing. Did what I needed it to do.
- Cons: Started making noises after three months. Didn't use the system all summer. Started using it again in September and the noises only got worse. Eventually my computer no longer powered on and I received a video card related code on my EVGA motherboard. When I took the video card out I realized the fan could barely spin. It was rubbing against the metal covering. I removed the covering and the plastic on the inside was melted. The card is completely useless.
Noisy
- Pros: The card was a great price, came with a free game when I bought it, and it has met all of the performance levels that I expected it to. Everything looks great with this card, and I'm basically pretty happy with it.
- Cons: It is loud. It makes this annoying twangy sound most of the time. It doesn't seem to have to do with load...the sound happens whether I'm doing something resource intensive or if it's just sitting there idle. I'd say it makes the sound about 60-70% of the time that it is on.
- Other Thoughts: The computer sits right next to the TV, and it is loud enough that I am rather annoyed with it. If I had the money, I'd probably order a different card, but since I don't and this one does everything I need really, I'm gonna stick with the one I've got. The sound I'm describing isn't a standard sound, so I suspect my card is a little defective. I'm still giving 4 eggs because I doubt many other people are gonna get the weird sound that I'm getting.
XFX 9800gt
- Pros: Good card, great price.
- Cons: N/A
- Other Thoughts: Wishing I had gone with a 2xx series card but this is a great card for the price.
