Good Card - Powerful!
- Pros: - Stable in Vista 64 Ultimate
- Runs All Current Games with acceptable resolutions. (Yes it can play Crysis 1600x1200 @ 45+ FPS Avg) - Runs off a high end 550 watt power supply, Check your connections to make sure you have all the appropriate ones (adapters are very handy)!.
- Cons: Price Point- There are cheaper cards/SLI set ups out there that will give you similar performance for significantly less cash.
Heat Heat Heat- Be prepared to deal with the heat this puts off while under load. It really will noticeably raise the temperature of a 10 x 10 room after a couple hours of operation. Transcoding video based off GPU for 2 hours raised the temp in the room more than 5 degrees.
- Other Thoughts: - With any of these new cards running at a high resolution on a VGA monitor. Make sure to check your DVI -> VGA adapter an inadequate one will make you picture and text look fuzzy.
- Make Sure to register any of your new XFX products on their website to get the full warranty. - Games Run thus far Grid, Sims 3, CSS, WOW, Far Cry 2, Crysis. Absolutely no issues so far. - I highly recommend the GTX 200 series cards. Best performance for the money, hands down!
Great card once working
- Pros: Great card, runs everything very awesome. Makes WoW beautiful.
- Cons: I think that the card alone heats my entire office, darn it gets hot! Close your heater off if you play crysis or a high demand game. Such is life and the price you pay for so much power.
check clearance before buying
- Pros: I assume it will work at least as good as my 9800gtx+, same XFX manufacturer, when I get around to swapping motherboards.
- Cons: Plastic case covers both sides unlike my 9800gtx+. The bottom DVI connector has a plastic cover for the metal housing. That cover prevents the board from seating in a Tyan S2892D motherboard. A metal capacitor blocks the board from fully seating. The XFX 9800gtx did not have that cover and it fit. When I put the board in a X4 electrical slot (S2892 has a second x16 form but only x4 electrical), it was not recognized as a CUDA device. Supposidly it should have worked, but at a reduced bandwidth. It did power up both displays, but I need the CUDA and that was not working.
- Other Thoughts: A dremmel could be used to remove the plastic cover for the DVI connector, but would void the warranty.
