A good midrange graphics card
- Pros: A great card for gameplay at 1680x1050. Excellent built-in cooling solution provides for easy overclocking. It won't set any records in 3DMark, but that's not what this card is made for. This is an excellent midrange graphics card that should work very well for any game (except Crysis, of course).
- Cons: Two slot card design may cause problems if you're space limited.
- Pros: Fast, reliable, Double lifetime warranty. Outputs to my outdated HDTV over component much better than HD3870 or nvidia cards (which don't output to it at all).
- Cons: Video sometimes clips when playing over component. This is primarily a problem with the TV though and not the card.
Upgrade From a 8600GT For Sure!
- Pros: I was running an Nvidia 8600GT before this and it's like a night and day difference in graphics. Now I can actually see all the detail in the game. I run Battlefield 2142, COD4, EQ2, Spore, all cranked up to max settings no problem with the exception of turning a few things down in EQ2.
Nice solid card, and it looks nice too.
- Cons: Some said the fan was loud and I didn't hear it until I hit full load but it was about the same as my case fans so not a big deal to me.
Seems to run a hair warm because it's GPU is right next to my north bridge chip so I am putting a better cooler on my north bridge to compensate just as a precaution.
- Other Thoughts: I wish I would have a spent a hair extra for the 1GB version, but it won't matter when I get the second one of these for X-fire.
