XFX HD 4870x2
- Pros: Exceptionally fast
- Cons: Too many to outweigh the 1 pro-I wish I had gotten an Nvidia card. The major complaint has been the HDMI audio out problem-had to go through a nightmare getting it to work-diable the onboard audio in my bios and then download the realtek hdmi audio driver. The catalyst control center has not been much help either, I want to extend my desktop to my HDTV, but all it will allow me to do is duplicate the desktop-I had been an ATI graphics guy up to this point, but next time I will go with Nvidia.
Awesome Card!
- Pros: I got this in the mail the other day and was immediately impressed. The packaging is very nice, and the card is gorgeous. It takes one 8pin PCI-E power connector and one 6pin PCI-E power connector, so two not one, make sure you connect both otherwise the card will not work. I am able to run ARMA2 on HIGHEST settings and get zero lag, it runs every game I own on highest settings.
- Cons: Not a con but a note for people to know, the card is very long and wide so be sure you have a big case, I have the thermaltake elementS and it fits well. Also make sure to buy a minumum of 750 watt PSU, I am using the Corsair 850tx.
- Other Thoughts: CPU- intel i7 2.66 ghz (overclocked to 3.0 ghz)
Mobo- GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R Video Card- XFX HD-487A-CDF9 Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB Memory- OCZ Platinum 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 PSU- Corsair 850tx (850 watts) Hard Drive- Seagate Barracuda 1 Terabyte 7200.12 Case- Thermaltake ElementS
A POWER CARD!! WOW
- Pros: A high upgrade after selling my two BFG 8800GTOC SLI, I play all these games in 1680*1050, and get ,min35,Avg45,max70FPS in Warhead with all enthusiast 2xAA, avg186FPS R.Evil5 all high 8xAA, Avg238FPS in SFighter 4 all High 16AA, avg60FPS but these game is locked to 60FPS in Fallout3 all ULTRA 8xAA-16AF, avg130+FPS World in conflict all Maxed, avg70+FPS in COJuarez2 and so on. Only Game that beat this card is Warhead i cant reach the 60FPS Avg but who many does? I steal this card , big bang for the buck, I Was thinking to get a Geforce 295 as always be a Nvidia Gamer but Geforce cards are more expensive and these 4870x2 do performs slightly below. I dont like so much ATI but i think that with this card ATI is on the fight again, no doubt
- Cons: U must have a free 6+2 connector in your PSU to feed these beast plus a 6 connector, The problem is the 6+2 connector is not included, this is a bad joke from ATI really.
Runs a little Hot!!, its NOOOOISSYYY, Size could be a problem.
- Other Thoughts: Principal components, 22" 1680*1050 LCD, Core@ i7920 OC to 3.5GHz, 6GB DD3 Corsair Dominator 1600, DFI UT Lanparty X58T3eH8, WDCaviarBlack 600Gb, 750wPSU. One 4870x2 ATI Radeon
