1 out of 5 eggsDied after 5 months

Pros: Was a very good card for a budget non gaming build. Cheap

Cons: 35 days after purchase the vga port on the card died. Switched to the dvi port and card worked fine again until recently. The computer turns on and runs but the display won't turn on. Swaped out video cards and everything works fine.

Other Thoughts: Experiences like this put a major damper on the building your own vs buying prebuilt argument. It's a shame that the card started having problems so soon after the build was complete. Through previous experience with an XFX motherboard dieing with less than a year under it's belt. I know that the XFX warranty support is pretty bad and really not worth dealing with. I would deffinetly pass over any XFX product.

4 out of 5 eggsOverall Success

Pros: I purchased this video card to replace the Vida 6150 onboard graphics for my daughter’s computer. My kid plays very simple learning games, but I did not want her to have any issues. The card will play pretty much any low end game you throw at it on Med to High settings. I did try to play Borderlands on a Dell Optiplex 740 with an Athlon 64 X2 4400 and 4 gig DDR2 6400 and this card. The game played fine on the lowest settings. Anything when I attempted the change the screen resolution or the detail I noticed some lag.

Cons: I did notice that the fan was a bit louder than I expected. I tried the same card but the MSI brand and the fan was not as loud. This also does not come with a low profile bracket. The box states that a 350watt power supply is needed, but Newegg and XFX both show a minimum of 300 watt power supply required. I am using this card on a 280 watt power supply with no issues so far (only been using it for almost 3 weeks)

Other Thoughts: Overall I give this product a 4 out of 5 eggs because for the price this is a good video card, but it will loss an egg for the Loudness of the fan and inconsistencies between the power requirements on the box, and the XFX website.

1 out of 5 eggsbad warranty service

Pros: I purchased a 8600 GT from other newegg account. The card worked great for 2 years Then I started to experience freeze ups, and other issues.

Cons: Bad warranty support. I was under the impression when I bought this card, there is lifetime warranty service, catch is you have to register the card through the company website (xfx.xom). here is what the company said when I contacted them:
[ 9/6/2009 12:30:24 PM] My serial number on the card: S/N: 17h202254. I tried to register this number when registering my product, and the site says it is invalid. I have taken three pictures of the Serial number if needed. I purchased my card two years ago from newegg.com . I am currently experiencing card problems. The screen flickers occasionally, and locks up. I have since starting using my onboard video without any further problems. What steps do I need to take to replace this card?
[BRIAN 9/10/2009 5:52:08 PM] Hi, the serial number is actually I7H202254. You can also register the card without the serial number using the ordering code. If the card is not registered within 30 days of purchase, these units will have a 1 year warranty from the -

Other Thoughts: continued: purchase date. I pulled up the serial number and it is coming up as out of warranty right now. Unfortunately, we will not be able to warranty the card at this time. Thanks, Brian.

My thoughts: some lessons are best learned the hard way. Bad warranty support. Don't be fooled with the lifetime warranty label on this product. It's a catch 22.

4 out of 5 eggsMore than Adequate

Pros: Works well, doesn't make a lot of noise, no overheating. Much better performance than my old 7 series card. Also easy to install, doesn't cause a lot of problems at all.

Cons: Not quite as powerful as I thought it would be. It is great, but I am still not experiencing the FPS that I thought i'd get with it, oh well, I guess it was a very good deal for what it does and that is all that counts. However; if you are seriously looking to run Next-Gen games. . . do yourself a favor and get something more powerful.

1 out of 5 eggsOnly a 1 year warranty. "LIFETIME" is a lie and a ripoff.

Pros: Cheap

Cons: This PIECE OF CRUD card died on me after 16 months of ownership; I thought, "that sucks, oh well at least I'm covered, there's a lifetime warranty." Yeah, not so much. There's fine print that tells you that you have to have registered on their site WITHIN 30 DAYS or your lifetime warranty is void. Avoid scammers like this like the plague - they're obviously out to scam you in case you need any support. Google "xfx lifetime warranty" to read all the sites out there that slam this company for their shady practices.

DON'T GIVE XFX ANY BUSINESS.

Other Thoughts: DON'T GIVE XFX ANY BUSINESS.

5 out of 5 eggsI would recomend it

Pros: Well I use this in my budget gaming PC, it definitely does its job and isn't slacking off. It isn't going to run your games on high resolution but at least you can run them.

Cons: I haven't found any problems yet.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this to anybody building a budget gaming PC and when I say budget I mean around $200.

Pros: Works, and is cheap.

Cons: Doesn't come with a SFF adapter. This is $6.99 extra.

4 out of 5 eggsNice upgrade!

Pros: This was a great replacement for a video card that had gone belly up in a Dell XPS Desktop. Extremely happy with the price, performance, and all aspects of the Newegg Eggsperience!

Cons: Absolutely none
