5 out of 5 eggsNice Server / HTPC Card

Pros: - Performs rather well, not meant for 3D gaming applications, but it can render well enough.
- Inexpensive
- Silent (passive cooling)
- Double Lifetime Warranty?
(Well, it said that on the brochure, or something.)

Cons: - Passive cooling?
Allow me to explain... using this card, I have two computers connected to one monitor, one with DVI and the other (this card) with VGA. The computer connected with DVI has a very crisp picture with no problems. This card has a (very slightly) fuzzy picture, and I notice some "waves" going diagonally to the right and down across the screen, from time to time. There is also occasional, slight flickering. I don't know if it's just not seated properly, or if it's the cooling involved, or even the connection; however I have tried reconnecting the cable multiple times, so I'm unsure. I use this card in a server so it doesn't matter a whole lot to me, it's just sort of strange, and would be a bit disappointing if it were an HTPC.

Now this may be the motherboard which I'm using (I essentially "found" it), and it might be improperly seated, so I won't rate it any lower than 5 eggs.

Other Thoughts: I got a computer for free which was in need of a PCI Express video card. Seeing as this one was inexpensive, and seemed nice, I bought it. It performs far better than I needed it to, and is a pretty great value as well.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what I need

Pros: This card does all that I want it to. I wanted to play SWTOR and I am in the middle of building a machine but needed to limp my old one along. This card is not the best by any means but a good stepping stone

Cons: Not really a con but mainly user error. after installation I forgot to check for updates and the drivers that were included would make the computer bluescreen but once I updated the drivers it is working great.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat value!

Pros: I bought this card to give me enough juice to play Star Wars the old republic, and it sure did the trick. I still have the preferences set pretty low, but I'm getting 30 fps average, and that's awesome. While this card is nothing amazing, for the price you really can't beat it. It should run whatever you need unless you're doing serious gaming.

Cons: None, really. Just know what you are getting, this is not a high-end card.

Manufacturer Response:

We are glad to hear that you like the card. Thank you for purchasing XFX.

5 out of 5 eggsCard installed great, runs great.

Pros: -Small Size
-1 GB of video ram for low price
-Fanless= Quiet
-Supports overclocking.

Cons: I wouldn't dock an egg for this, but the software that came with my video card was way outdated..Don't even bother with the cd, just download the manager/driver off the amd site.

Other Thoughts: A great card for a great price.

4 out of 5 eggsAcceptable

Pros: It's cheap. I upgraded from an integrated graphics (from HD 4250) to this HD 4550 and there was substantial improvement. I know it wasn't a big upgrade but I wanted to move out of the integrated realm. Now my system can run new games easily on low settings and older games while pushing the limit. No fan is good, my tower has a good air flow already.

Cons: For the price, none. It would be nice if it were faster and had more of it's own memory, but what can you expect from this price range.

Other Thoughts: This completes my first total system build. This is not a permanent solution for my graphics card but it will hold me over for awhile.
