5 out of 5 eggsVery fast AGP card

Pros: This is the fastest AGP video card I know of. I got this graphics card hoping, to see the games run better. That is what this card has done. OS booting time is a bit faster now. I'm not going to overclock this card, becouse it is already. Looks great with CRT and LCD monitors.

I did not think my PC case would be cooled down this mush. I was going to get a new fan for my PC. Not now, becouse the IceQ3 fan does the job.

Cons: I did not have any becouse I knew what to do.
It seems APG is coming to an end, -- someday.

Other Thoughts: I used the newer Ati drivers from there site. On a side note, you should not use the regular Ati drivers for this graphics card. Thay are not AGP friendly!

Just go to Ati's Drivers & Software page or use there search button. Put in AGP hotfix....... I used v8.12 & 9.2 AGP hotfix drivers. The 9.2 worked better then the last one. Catalyst Software Suite 9.3 AGP hotfix is out now, you my give that one a try.

Some version of drivers, even newer ones don't always work well. There are some of the AGP hotfixes I tryed & thay don't work well at all. Read abought the driver version your going use is smart to do. Do a internet search, review for Catalyst Software Suite 9.3 AGP hotfix..

You may also want to us somthing like (Driver Sweeper) in safemode after you unstall your old video driver. You don't want any old video driver piece around.
Restart your PC after you did this in safemode.
Then install your new Ati AGP hotfix driver.

3 out of 5 eggsOutdated drivers

Pros: Drastic change for AGP card. Beautiful colors.

Cons: It seems that HIS and ATI doesn't go along very well. I cannot install the latest drivers for HIS video card. The only one i got was from HIS website and it's 6 month old version.
But when I try to download the latest drivers from http://support.amd.com/, it tells me "incapable with your hardware version".

PLEASE someone help me to get the latest drivers for this card to install on my computer!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast and quiet. With AGP Hotfix drivers installation was quick and painless (well almost. see cons) Post processing effects are a breeze. My poor ol' Prescot core just got a new lease on life.

Cons: BIG card. Had to move a HD and reroute some cables.

Other Thoughts: Worth every penny (so far.)
WoW RotLK runs at 1680x1050 max settings (even shadows) /w 8x AA and 4x anisotropi @ 40 - 60 fps. My 512 MB 7300 GT was choking down 17 - 23 fps with no AA / anisotropi or shadows.

4 out of 5 eggsGood upgrade, could use some polish

Pros: Great card for reviving an AGP system. Good graphics and only card I've been able to find running DX 10.1 on an AGP slot that's still readily available, in Win XP I might add...

Cons: It's a monster, very long card and the power connection placement does not help with installation, take a cue from some ofhter manufacturers and move those connections so you are not fighting for space with hard drive bays and random power/data cables.

Drivers did not update properly from the ATI site but I do have to give HIS credit for posting some on their own. Catalyst didn't even recognize any valid card drivers to update so not sure who's at fault there, HIS or ATI...

Other Thoughts: It still hasn't solved some of the issues I'm seeing on our old computer but it does help and that may not be the card's issue at this point so I can't fault that just yet, may come back and update once I set that system up as my son's and get another system running.

5 out of 5 eggsAGP is just as good as PCIE

Pros: Just so everyone knows. AGP is infact better at most games than PCIE is believe it or not. Tests have proven it and I have seen it first had. The tests were done using my socket 939 agp and my cousins PCIE set up. I benched higher in all tests by at least 2 frames. For games AGP holds solid against PCIE

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: The only advantage to PCIE is that the slot can be multiplied.

5 out of 5 eggsGood upgrade for AGP 8x

Pros: This card runs very well for being the best AGP 8x card available. I increased my AGP Aperture size in my BIOS and it seems that only certain games take advantage of it the shared memory. If you are stuck with AGP8x still and want to max it out to the best it can be buy this card.

Cons: None, no problems at all with the card. Just read through these reviews and make sure you get the correct ATI Control Center software so you wont have any problems.

Other Thoughts: This card has kept my gaming pc alive until I build a new system this summer.

5 out of 5 eggsLOL at RLudiker

Pros: If you are a "gamer" then you wouldn't be using an AGP rig (which is now 5 years out-classed). But if you want to make your P05 rig look hillarious and spend over 9000! on a video card that costs more than your system, then go ahead.

Cons: I would recommend getting a nVidia card solely on the basis that their desktop drivers work pretty much universally with their GPUs.

Or, just buy a motherboard-cpu combo that accepts PCIe x16 or PCIe 2.0 x16 cards.

Other Thoughts: LOL at RLudiker - "gamer" on a nVidia 5950 Ultra

As a gamer, - If you are a gamer, this card is not for you.
computer guru, - obviously not
and network administrator - Must mean his house
