3 out of 5 eggscrappiest heatsink fan ever

Pros: 50 bucks for this card seems like a good deal, according to it's specifications.

It plays The Sims 3 just fine..

Cons: at idle, and at load, the fan speed constantly varies every second, or 2 seconds or half second, CONSTANTLY, going anywhere from silent to "lawn mower".... it's terribly annoying.

we'll be at the table talking loudly and laughing, and here comes the lawn mower, we all stop and turn our heads to the computer, which sounds like a nightmare.... seriously.

they can cram a billion transistors in there, but they cant figure out how to regulate fan speed, it's just asinign.

DO NOT BUY THIS CARD, get one with a better heatsink fan.

Other Thoughts: We picked this card for our poor old grandma, so she could play the sims 3. It plays, but she started freaking out because the computer literly sounded like it was dieing.

THERE IS NO SOFTWARE TO CONTROL THE FANSPEED EITHER. I'm not that newb, I know where to go to get some fanspeed control for my numerous video cards, this card doesn't work with any of it.

SOOOOO.... ole granny has to spend 35 bucks on a zalman cooler, because apparently the 22 dollar zalman doesn't fit on the 4650/70....

We could have just spent the extra 35 dollars on a FAR superior video card.

LAME. Shame on HIS.

1 out of 5 eggsLike, the WORST graphics card in history

Pros: price

Cons: well let's start with the fact that the software on the disk this card comes with rejects the card - "is not compatible with your system" is what it says, or words to that effect.

Just to be clear, the ATI Catalyst Control Center version that ships on the disk (and also the latest version at their website) fails to install because it's incompatible with this card.

The card works, that is it does display video to your screen, but don't expect to be able to use two monitors since the second head is "dead", by which I mean, hooking up a working monitor to it results in nothing happeniong even after you've gone through the steps to extend Windows to the second monitor - steps I am quite familiar with.

So what do you get? An adapter that has one working head when you paid for two and software that doesn't like the card you bought.

Trust me- don't buy this card, no matter HOW low the price goes.

Other Thoughts: I am thinking about sawing the card in half and shipping it back to them. I guess I'll just RMA the thing back to Newegg . Nothing like having no monitor for a week.... thanks HIS... ever do any quality control?

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

Pros: Great card for the price, i`m a casual gamer and it supports games like fallout in 1280*1024 with 48 fps, mediun settings, when i tried to run it in high setings the fps down to 25, low noise.

Cons: the ati sw is not the better, and the overdrive its worst, do it with a best sw oc

1 out of 5 eggsfinal review...not good

Pros: i wish i could say something good about this card

Cons: I've posted two other reviews for this card. I did a rma on the first one. now the new one is here. and not only do i have soaring temperatures, but in vista and windows 7 it chokes and my cpu usage on my second core stays at 98% making the system sluggish. Doesn't do this with my integrated xpress200 chip.

Other Thoughts: I don't even want to rma it again. I mean...i would like to, but it will only be replaced by the same product. and after two of these...there is no point. unless they sent a different model...its just not worth the cost shippping. I don't want this card any longer. very disappointed.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Good price, great for HTPC, good for cheap gaming card, will run L4D 1280x1024 med-high settings 40-60fps, CoD4 1280x1024 all high ~45fps. around 11,000 in 3dmark05 on a athlonx2 be-2300, 2gb ram.

Cons: DDR2 speed is horrible for bandwidth, takes more power than ddr3

Other Thoughts: good little card for cheap!

5 out of 5 eggsGood card for the money.

Pros: Works well, cheap, works well with Vista and Aero, can play all games, just not on the highest settings.

Cons: Ram chips get a bit toasty! But I had a few heat sinks lying around, so I stuck them on and all is well.

Other Thoughts: Was thinking of over clocking it a bit, but the gains are probably not work it, I will use this card until i have some money to burn on a better card, this will then go into my girl friends machine.

4 out of 5 eggsgood value for the money

Pros: Single-slot form factor, excellent video quality (better than my LCD TV's built-in digital, HD audio out (HDCP)

Cons: Some probs with my LCD HDTV in resolutions above 800x600 (Halo 2). But not a deal breaker for me.

Other Thoughts: Great card for HTPC and "light" gaming with older titles. My MoBo has a strange 'backwards' config. So, single-slot height was critical to prevent losing a usable slot. Not highest-performance card. But, it raised Vista perf rating notably from on-board graphics-only rating (graphics no longer dragging perf down). I also chose this to try the HD digital audio output (HDCP)... but I need to mod MoBo to wire it up.

2 out of 5 eggsoverheating

Pros: okay performance

Cons: I've owned this card for a while now. It runs okay i guess, but it overheats. My case has solid cooling. every component in it has great temps, except this card. Running 55C idle. Not acceptable!

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Card

Pros: Very nice card. Idles at 35c. and under load stays in the 45c ball park. with a AMD dual core 2.7Ghz and a 1280-1200 Res CRT monitor the card plays Crysis on High settings ( 35FPS Average ). very impressive. plays CoD4 on Max settings around 70FPS. Well worth the 55$ price tag.

Cons: None. For the price its a amazing card that does its job well.
