HIS Hightech brings the power of graphics ‘supercomputing’ to enthusiasts with their IceQ4 cooler Radeon HD 4870 card. Built on HIS Hightech's IceQ cooling technology, this card will bring the benefits of IceQ cooling - quieter and more efficient cooling - to a wider range of users.
The HIS Hightech H487QT1GP card has 1GB of high-performance GDDR5 memory, clocked at 4000MHz and the GPU core is clocked at 770MHz. Supporting AMD CrossFireX technology, two high-speed connectors on each card allow two or more cards to be used together for enhanced performance when installed in a CrossFireX compatible motherboard.
The Radeon HD 4870 incorporates the latest ATI Avivo HD Technology for enhanced video display, and features a second generation built-in UVD 2 (Unified Video decoder 2) for the hardware accelerated decoding of Blu-ray and HD DVD content for VC-1, H.264 and MPEG-2 codecs, considerably reducing CPU load. The card’s HDMI connector supports multi-channel audio formats (up to 7.1) and combines audio and video output on a single cable for direct connection to an HDMI-ready display. Support for DirectX10.1 ensures the optimal performance and application compatibility with all DirectX10.1 applications and enables stunning 3D graphics and shading effects in the latest DirectX10.1 games.

Best 4870 1GB to date!
- Pros: Awesome! Picked them up while Newegg had a sale on them. Factory overclocked to higher standard than regular 4870 1GB. I overclocked these to 790/1075 with no hiccups! The temperature on these are around 40C idle and 49 - 55C full load! Did I mention how quiet the fans are? If you buy this, get two and go crossfire!
- Cons: The sticker positions were off on both cards. It was so bad that on one of them, I had to remove the sticker. Not a biggy, but for those that are detail oriented/ perfectionist, might bother a bit. HIS, possible to send me replacement stickers?
- Other Thoughts: I am very happy with the purchase aside from the non-technical issue stated above. I congratulate HIS for another innovative product. Can't wait for the HIS' RV8XX ICEQs.
wow
- Pros: Fast, I upgraded from an 9800gtx+ from xfx to this, this thing is way faster and i dont know why people complain about the heat, right now i have the thing running at 790 mhz for the core and 1090 on the memory and i have no problems with it, the hottest i have seen it is 48 degrees, thats after playing crysis, i also keep the fan at 45% and it stays at roughly 37-39 degree while idle.
- Cons: nothing that i can think of
- Other Thoughts: My second card is on its way right now for crossfire, everything i have seen says this will blow almost anything out of the water, from all the benchmark tests i have seen two will be really fast.
for an example on how this is compared to my xfx 9800gtx+, gta4 playing at max settings at 1600x1200 at 50 fps according to the benchmark test, i couldnt max everything out with the 9800 i also can play crysis with some of the settings maxed , and AA no problem

His 4870 Turbo ICEQ4+
- Pros: Great card, runs as good as most 4890 cards. Great price too.
The sound is quiet too.
- Cons: None
GOOD GRAPHICS CARD
- Pros: Runs all games at high without any problemoes!!!
- Cons: ~If you set the fan above 40% it get really loud.
~Right now it runs at 52°C fans set at 40% (which is HOTT?)
- Other Thoughts: AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core 6000+ 2MB L2 Cache

Good At First
- Pros: For the first 3 to 4 months the card was outstanding. Silent, fast, able to handle everything I threw at it.
Then suddenly a clicking noise started to occurred....
- Cons: It was rare at first, then as time went on it became more frequent and louder. Eventually a loud whirring sound that I immediately turned off my pc to further investigate it. I blew a little bit of dust out of the card but it didn't help 8/10 times the whirring and clicking sound occurred. It was coming from the video card's fan.
It wasn't loose, it was seeded properly, and the fan didn't touch or scrape any of the plastic. I contacted HiS to get an RMA (since it has been less than a year) and 2 weeks later they told me to flash the video card.
They gave me the link to do the flash and I did. The flash throttled down the fan to about 1400 rpm. Which caused the temperature of the card to increase to 79 degrees celisus (no longer Ice Cool...). Which of course increases case temperatures and more.
Now my card is experiencing the same issue other ATI and Nvidia card owners experience with vista. Error atikmdag invalid parameter in eventviewer. See the next sectio
- Other Thoughts: The video card while playing with dual monitors commonly does the following when playing games:
1. Start up game on one monitor (Left 4 Dead and others). 2. Messenger on the other monitor. 3. Start playing for a bit. Switch to the other monitor and randomly the video card powers the dvi connectors on it off. 4. Locks up my system (using Windows 7) and causes the video card fan to spin at over 3000 rpm. 5. Must manually power off machine.
After hours of googling searching I read that this is an ATI Refresh something (don't remember the name) and sometimes people's card would re-enable the DVI ports. With the ICEQ 4+ the dvi ports were never re-enable.
One week ago, I contacted HiS again for a RMA I have not received a response back yet.
In short: This card is Excellent while it last but if you have a hardware issue with it...then imo you are sort of luck. I'm looking for a new video card to crossfire with this one, so I won't feel like I wasted my money on it.
