2 out of 5 eggsDead at 5 months

Pros: Low power graphics card that is silent and able to run Direct2PC.

Cons: Died after 5 months

Other Thoughts: Rating will go up or down an egg depending on how the RMA process goes but will never get higher than 3 eggs.

5 out of 5 eggsworth the money

Pros: I use this video card mostly for BD and HD movies, and play left for dead, left for dead 2 and WOW some. Becouse of No fan = No noise. never had any problems with ATI or HIS. I do have 2 monitors hooked up with No problems.

Cons: No problems

Other Thoughts: Just remember to get all the updates for driver and firmware. The software is easy to use and will ask if you want to check for updates.

5 out of 5 eggsNice for the price

Pros: Price was reasonable, shipping was great, packaging was okay, and the performance of the card was excellent. I am not a hard core gamer so I do not know how the card would stack up when playing the latest games. I like the fact that it doesn't have a fan that can get all clogged up and stop working.

Cons: The heat-sink on the card extends out on both the front and the back of the card. The intent is to permit this card to be installed in a single socket. However, if your north-bridge chip is close to the PCI-E socket and has a heat-sink that sticks up very high you may have problems. On one motherboard I only had 1/8 inch clearance.

Other Thoughts: The bus interface is listed as being PCI-E interface version 2.1X16. The card is not backward compatible with PCI-E interface version 1.0A. I ended up removing the card out of another machine and swapping cards around to make everything work. If you are expecting this card to work on older interface formats, you may be disappointed to find that it won't work.

3 out of 5 eggsOK BUT...

Pros: Large heat sink means it can run without a fan (quiet)
Handles video needs quite well but, while I do play games, I'm not a gamer.

Cons: Large heat sink. Installed in a low profile, slim case (this is a low profile card) but heat sink stuck out just under 1/8 inch too far. Could not get side panel on. Got it in a NewEgg deal so didn't want to return it. Looked at construction. It seems that heat sink could be removed, redrilled and reinstalled to solve the clearance problem. But that would ruin warranty. Another reviewer said that he cut off the extra heat sink. Also would ruin warranty AND the card seemed to run hot enough to make that a bad choice. I decided that it needed all the heat sink it could get. Instead, I built a form which enabled me to "bump out" the side panel in a rectangular shape exactly where the heat sink needed the clearance. Worked like a charm. Side panel slips on and off as needed and there is no pressure on the heat sink which could damage the card or the mobo. Shouldn't have to hack my brand new low profile case to fit a low profile card, though. That's why I took off 2 eggs.

Other Thoughts: After case hack (see cons), it is working properly. In testing stage now so if there are more problems I'll comment then.
Had to add an additional case fan (total 2) to handle the heat from the processor and this video card so not sure if having no fan on the card is a real advantage.

Please don't buy this card expecting it to fit into a low profile or slim form factor case. It won't.. at least without metal working skills! LOL

3 out of 5 eggsLinux drivers not there

Pros: (Disclaimer: I run Ubuntu Linux 10.04 and play games under Wine.)

- Good performance for the price. I got decent framerates @ 1680x1050 with Half-Life 2 Episode 2 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
- Uses around 50 Watts, so it's good for lower power systems. Fanless and therefore quiet.
- Requires no power connectors--draws all the power through the motherboard
- Fits easily in my MicroATX case.

Cons: The linux drivers need a lot of work. I have Ubuntu 10.04 32 bit.

After installing the new card, my X server would crash. I had to boot up to text mode and test a lot of different settings before the X server would start. After that, I tried both the bundled version of ATI's drivers and the most recent one downloaded from the website.

Although I got good framerates, I could not find a resolution to the following problems:
1) My sound wouldn't work when the ATI driver was loaded
2) A big red "1" (number) appears in the upper left corner whenever I would launch a game (latest Catalyst driver)
3) An "unsupported" watermark appears in the lower right when I'm not using the latest Catalyst driver.
4) Half-Left 2 crashed when not using the latest driver

Other Thoughts: For most budget/energy-conscious gamers who don't want to play the very latest, this is probably a good card.

However, for Linux, steer clear and stick with NVidia for now. I feel like maybe I should be posting this on a linux forum but I use NewEgg reviews to check for Linux compatibility--maybe others do as well.

3 eggs because, although this didn't meet my needs, this issue is not likely to affect most people.

5 out of 5 eggsperfect for htpc... perfect (for now)

Pros: small, silent. great for htpc with 400 stream proccessors, enables full post proccessing @ 1080p up to 60fps with *current* full install of ati drivers and full install of catalysts control center (ocl+decoder).

Cons: Not a U2 complaint card. the heatsnk extends above the card height.

Other Thoughts: Drives 2 displays perfectly.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Fine..Some Info Missing

Pros: I built a new desktop, and will call it a 'high end work station'. this card, with no fan and decent performance looked like a good fit for my application and has run everything i use with no issues. also, i liked the fact that it does not require a separate power source.

Cons: The card has some pins on it that are not identified in the documentation . Seems reasonable that doc should include this kind of info.

Other Thoughts: Good value

5 out of 5 eggsSmall shuttle Direct2PC

Pros: I put this in a 240 watt shuttle box that had it's onboard video die after only 14 months :-( Turned out to be a bonus because I can now streem HD content using direct2PC. And there is 0Db of noise since there is no fan which makes for a nice and quite living room PC. This is one of the best choices out today to hop up a PC with a mini power supply.

Cons: The heat sink wraps around the top and takes up the slot next to it.

Other Thoughts: I knew about the heat sink wrap around due to the good pictures new egg posts on it's products. For my application it wasn't an issue. And I gladly gave up the PCI slot to have piece and quite.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for HTPC

Pros: Obviously silent. Effective passive cooling. Although it recommends a 400 watt PSU I am getting away with a 220 watt. Properly sends DTS-HD and True-HD signal to receiver using PDVD 10. ATI drivers/Catalyst have been much improved upon to make needed adjustments like with NVidia control panel.
Was playing Street Fighter 4 (PC Edition) at 1080p at 60 FPS.

Cons: Heat sink pokes up on top which could hinder the use of the slot above your PCI-e graphics slot. I had to cut pins on my e-sata pci-e card to make it all fit inside my itx case.
You may need to fool with it a bit to get PDVD to work right (see other thoughts).

Other Thoughts: PDVD 10 and the ATI drivers had a conflict at first. Well, actually, because I had residual Realtek Audio drivers in addition to ATI drivers being installed I kept suffering APPCRASH in Windows. I had to manually find the Realtek audio dll file and delete it; then all was perfect.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card!!

Pros: Good price. 1GB of memory.

Cons: Only DDR3 memory

Other Thoughts: This is my first ATI card. It replaced an Nvidia 8600GT. My computer is faster with this card than it was with the Nvidia card. I decided to try ATI after all of the problems I have had with Nvidia cards and Vista and Windows 7. My next card will be an ATI as well.
