4 out of 5 eggscrossfire review

Pros: Cost, performance, small size and power usage.

Cons: Even with heat pipe cooling, these cards will still get hot durring game play. This means fluttering on screen while playing games like BC2.

Other Thoughts: Overall 3dmark06 score with 2 of these cards in cross fire running 4 gigs of ram @ 1066 and a AMD 3.2Ghz quad core with no over clocking (if you can get through the test without overheating) was 18,447 points with no over clocking of CPU or video cards. Using AMD overdrive and a open case exposed to -10C air from outside with CPU at 3.6GHz and Video Cards were over clocked all the way up in CCC, I managed to get 24,122 points in 3dmark06. Also acheived 384 FPS in Counter strike... BF2 plays at a solid 120FPS durring online play with cards underclocked...

In both cases, this rig beat my friends Intel puter with a 2.6GHz i7 with a 6870 video card! He was very mad...

2 out of 5 eggsSlow support, mediocre experience

Pros: When working properly, the framerates and image are good.

Card looks good.

Cons: I've had sporatic artifacts (flashing screen sections), colored screen crashes with vertical lines, screen go completely black, and vertical bars pop-up while playing games. (I experienced some of these same symptoms on another computer, so it doesn't appear to be my specific machine)

I submited a ticket to their online support, which makes one beleive there is truly online support, but it appears to basically be a fancier form of email. It's been 30+ hours since I submitted my ticket, and i haven't received so much as a "we are working" response.

I'd submit an RMA directly to their 3rd party US supplier, but I want to be sure I have HIS support that it's busted. The 3rd party supplier will "test" it, and if they find no issue, they will return it to you at your charge. I don't want to pay to and from shipping, and end up with a card which still gives me troubles.

Other Thoughts: I've owned this card for 2 months. I experienced a few minor issues in the first month, but tried to solve them myself, and not immediately try and get new hardware from the vendor. Now I'm on manufacture's warranty only, and hope i don't experience a lot of pain.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, So good!

Pros: DX11, which actually makes a difference! Faster than my 4850. Easy install. Decent shipping, the newegg usual. Overclocks pretty well. Got mine to 950/1300 with Afterburner.
BFBC2 is better looking, Call of Pripyat is running well. a 1200pt jump in 3DMark06. If your on the fence, go for it. HIS makes good cards.

Cons: I couldn't afford 2. Friend who was going to buy my HIS 4850 backed out on me.

Other Thoughts: I got this as a sidegrade for my 4850. I plan on crossfire as soon as I get a couple other upgrades out of the way. Supposedly the Xfire config equals a 5870 in most games. I have bought 5 different HIS cards for myself and friends, and they have all delivered great performance and awesome cooling.
RAM-4GB ddr2 800
HD's-500GB+1TB 7200rpm
Aftermarket 38mm 120mm fan.

Too bad the egg is so down on using real company names for system specs.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Performing Card

Pros: -Quality cooling system, which is very quite when compared to some other coolers on the 5770s.

-Length. This card is a about an inch longer than other 5770s. I really needed this length in my case setup. The longer extension allowed the entire fan not be smothered by the card below it.

-Performance has been spot on, or better with all 5770 benchmark/reviews out there.

-Good overclocking headroom, if you so desire.

-Cool looking card.

Cons: -Reference PCBs allow for a trifire setup, however you can only do a crossfire with this card. Obviously only an issue if you plan to do trifire. Non-issue for 99% of purchasers.

-Price is ok, but not great. Considering this is a non-turbo version, and competes directly with the other 5770s, I'd think $155 is a more competitive price point.

Other Thoughts: This is my first HIS product, and so far I'm pleased with my purchase. I also liked that the other reviewers situation was taken care of promptly, and the he had a good support experience. This gives me high hopes and expectations if I ever run into an issue.

I'll likely buy another card in the future for a crossfire setup

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card!

Pros: This is a great card and I'm very happy with my purchase. The card had just been released when I purchased it so I was buying it without any reviews. That made me a little nervous but it turns out I didn't need to be. Installation was easy and the card runs very cool while playing Starcraft 2 and Bad Company 2 super smoothly on max settings @ 1680x1050.

Cons: None at all.

Other Thoughts: You won't regret buying this card.

1 out of 5 eggsSmokeshow... Literally

Pros: Looks good.

Cons: Well let's see. Opened package, put into motherboard, and plugged pcie connector into card. Made sure everything was tight and correct. Hit power button on computer and got immediate smokeshow from card. Smoke was pouring out of card. Shut down computer and pulled from machine. Not Happy!! Now I have to pay to send this brick back to Newegg. Completely Dissapointed.

Other Thoughts: Not neweggs fault but disappointed. Bought for son for his birthday. He was so excited and then so let down.
