With black hole impeller, cool air is drawn from both sides of the fan and hot air is forced out of the computer case. This ensures effective cooling when there is another card in front blocking the fan inlet, such as in CrossFire setup. With IceQ, the card is up to 12 °C cooler than the Reference Cooler. IceQ is one of the quietest coolers, making the card 8dB quieter than the reference cooler. The card is below 28dB when watching movies, surfing Facebook, and working. The card remains quiet whether you are gaming, online socializing, entertaining or working.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Very fast.
Overclocks well.
Handles everything I throw at it with ease. Crysis 3 running max with 4x MSAA at 50fps
Looks very nice too!

Cons: DOA when I first got it. I normally wouldn't deduct an egg for this, but the RMA process took over a month and communications with HIS RMA support were quite a hassle.

Other Thoughts: Gets quite loud at higher RPMs, but it usually doesn't need to since it runs below 50% GPU usage on many of my games.

3 out of 5 eggsHigh Failure Rate

Pros: Quiet, neat design. Runs ok undervolted

Cons: Bought 10 cards, 3 had problems with artifacting. Cooling system is inadequate for stock voltage of 1.25

Other Thoughts: I'm keeping the good ones for bitcoin/litecoin mining but using the HIS IceQ X2 7970 Bios to keep the voltage at 1.17 instead of 1.25. Running at 1050/1500mhz with 7970 bios. Note if you do this you will not get any video on hdmi/displayport until windows boots.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst cooling ever

Pros: Sturdy, looks nice

Cons: Had these running, and it constantly hits 95-101C while on full load. No overclocking. The fan is at 100% speed, but is only 3000RPM, which proved to be not effective.
I bought 5 of these, and 5 of these run 95C, in various computers, all open without computer case.
Those that say these card run "cool", maybe is because the card throttles down? B/c I constantly see the core speed drop to 850MHz as the card try to cool itself down. I own several other brands, and NONE even gets to 90C, only this one gets to 101C.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very good card;
nice specs;
runs cool;
very sturdy;
no problems at all

Cons: none at all

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend this card. It's sturdier than the gigabyte 7970's I own, also the sapphire 7950, which is sturdier than the 7870XT (the 7870 XT is the flimsiest out of the 3 types I listed, but still not really flimsy)

On a scale 1-10, I'd give the 7870XT a 6 in sturdiness, the 7950 an 8, the gigabyte 7970 an 8, and this one gets a 10. Very solid, well-built card.

4 out of 5 eggsBest Card I've Owned

Pros: COOL and QUIET... Easy to overclock well beyond it's stock value with the epic blower style cooler they've added to this card. Extremely fast and massive memory for multi-display use and the latest and greatest games
Bioshock: Infinite (60fps) constant
Crysis 3 (24fps) with overclock - knowledgeable individuals know that that is great for a mid-high-range GPU running solo... Overall this card cooks, looks, and books(benchmarks :p) at a great level, easily better than the 660ti from Nvidia.

Cons: MASSIVE... Just plain big. I bought a mid-tower case hoping for the best... and was sorely dissappointed. Unless you purchase a case specifically with a seperated HD Tray and 5.25" Bay then you will not fit this card in your chassis.
Power... Radeon cards have notoriously been power hungry beyond Nvidia's offerings but it plays well to their performance, however it's a con as I'd have to upgrade my PSU to run two of these and when I say upgrade I mean stepping form a 700w to a 900-1000w -1 egg for these and only these reasons. The first reason was mostly my fault but just beware this card is nearly a Foot long.

Price - being the newest Gen of their hardware I understand the markup... But come fall-winter of 2013 they'll drop $50 flat... And that's probably when I'll buy a second one :P

Other Thoughts: Love the card, works great playing the newest games at 1080p. Go beyond that and put it on a big TV, and you'll see it's stress points. But you do get what you expect from the touted next gen hardware coming from AMD... They DO have the fastest Chips available at these prices right now, and I don't foresee Nvidia - Price to Performance - Keeping pace anytime soon... Sorry Nvidia... I do have lots of respect.

5 out of 5 eggsThis card is a champ - highly recommended!

Pros: Cheap - stole it for $279.
Cool, quiet and overclocks like a beast. Comes at 925 core, 1250 memory @ 1.125 V. Went to 1075 core and 1400 memory @ stock voltage and runs cool and quiet (~55-60 C at full load and the vent is dead silent on auto). Just for the heck of it I overclocked it to 1200 core @ 1.23V and set the vent manually on 100%. It does get loud at 100% but the temperature never exceeded 70C. All the heat goes outside of the case!
IMHO this is the best bang for the buck right now. You get a fast card, that is not voltage locked, overclocks well and remains cool and quiet...
I hope newegg restocks this card. I highly recommend it!

Cons: Only one real con so far. I can't see the VRM temperatures. The latest GPUz show constant 25C and this clearly can not be the case. Not sure if the sensors are dead or the software just can't read them. Will try other monitoring tools though because overheating the VRMs is the Achilles' heel of all 7950...
Other than that, the card has a cheap/plastic feel. If you want something pretty, sexy, and etc. - get a gf :) This thing is ugly but get's the job done! And gets it done well!
Another thing that is not really a con but the card is BIG - 29.5 cm and takes two slots. Make sure you have enough room. Not all mid cases will suffice. Fits well in my CM 690 II Advanced with a ~1-2 cm tolerance...

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have a decent PSU to feed this beast (and any other high end GPU). You need a good (>= 600W) single rail 12V (~50-60A) PSU to be stable. I see people complaining and this usually is the first reason why the card doesn't run even on stock settings!
And a little off topic - big thanks to newegg for the VIP shipping. Purchased it with 4-7 days free shipping and it came on the third business day... Hats down - these guys never disappoint! Highly satisfied customer here...

3 out of 5 eggsFaulty Card

Pros: Fast, runs cool even under stress, pretty quiet...

Cons: Not anything that comes to mind, rather than the fact that the second card I got is faulty.

Other Thoughts: I bought this card in hopes to crossfire it with an identical card I put into my rig when I built it (I have owned my original HIS IceQ HD 7950 for a little over 8 months now with no problems), however when I tested the card in my main PCIe 16x slot to see if it worked, the card would turn on but didn't display. After reading reviews around the net of many of faulty cards coming from HIS, I have decided to return it and get another 7950 from a different manufacturer. Besides my unfortunate case, I recommend this card to anyone wanting to play pre-2013 games at high and ultra settings, but would recommend shelling out big bucks for a high end card if gaming at the highest possible settings is a must as 2013 titles are very, very demanding.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Seems to be the sweet spot for the games i play, benched 62FPS in GTA4 maxed out, and 58FPS in BioShock Infinite maxed out. Overclocks well with after burner. I run a modest overclock of 1015Mhz core and 1515Mhz memory without touching the voltage and only hitting about 58C so there is still plenty of head room for that. Only limitations i have ran into are with crysis 3 at about 30FPS but i can always add another down the road. The card in my mind was only $190 because i was gonna buy those games anyways so im glad AMD had this promo going on.

Cons: Only con is that when i run dead island from steam i get a loud quick beeping noise. But its only on that game so im not docking an egg.

Other Thoughts: Setup:
i5 2500k @ 4.2Ghz
16gb GSkill @ 2133Mhz
Seagate 7200rpm 1TB
Corsair HX 750w
HIS iceQ 7950

5 out of 5 eggsSimply Amazing! Although pretty big

Pros: This was part of my first gaming pc build, but it was very easy to install and set up. It also comes with two free games, which equal about $110.00, so its like paying 200 for a 300 dollar card. It also comes with a sticker, and a VGA to DVI converter.

As far as performance goes, it keeps cool, has 3GB memory, and it delivers visuals that I have never seen before.

Cons: The only thing I would note is that this card is BIG. It had to go into my case at an angle to fit, but once in it fit perfectly.

Other Thoughts: Really impressed by this gpu. The gpu is one of the most important things you put in a PC. You get what you pay for, and this card is worth every penny! The free games as part of the never settle promotion make it an obvious pick.
