Nice
- Pros: Already overclocked, and runs like a champ. Fan noise/heat is ok and so far it has performed flawlessly. Crysis, COD4, Oblivion, etc. VERY impressive.
- Cons: Price? Huge? ...not really cons.
- Other Thoughts: I went from an X850XT PE (on water and overclocked) to this and needless to say, I have pretty much been in awe checking out Crysis and COD4, Witcher, etc. I've only made some preliminary overclocking bumps at this point so I'm not sure about its potential yet. However, it spanks as is.
I knew what I was getting into...
- Pros: I researched my system for 4 months. This is my 12th + build. These won over vs. eVGA only due to availability. They were a great price and claim some crazy specs.
- Cons: I am running Vista 64bit and knew I would have some issues. I have been getting BSOD related to video and have tried everything. I think it comes down to the cards being clocked too high stock. Not a big deal because I did not pay extra for the OC. Since I have trimmed back to 600mhz things have run fine. I am a little disappointed if this is the only solution...gives me a sense of false advertisement. But still, running at 600mhz is fine with me...especially in SLI!
- Other Thoughts: Running a new 64 bit OS and buying the latest and greatest hardware is going to take some patients. You will load dozens of drivers and pull sound cards and have some frustrating days. You just need to expect that going in. Research! Oh, and get a good power supply (slizone.com) and make sure your case can hold them (coolmaster 830).
- Pros: It's an 8800 GTX.
- Cons: Unstable. Insufficient cooling. Games crash to desktop or lock up my entire machine -- no problems with my previous X1950 XT. Foxconn - I was displeased with their tech support when it began crashing games randomly. Newegg was also of zero help. Foxconn's support had basically zero suggestions, and inferred that my motherboard must not be compatible with NVidia GPUs...what a crock.
- Other Thoughts: I actually wrote an earlier review praising the product about a week after I got it. Since that time I've been plagued with lockups and crashes. I've been doing my best to troubleshoot on my own as I've had no help from Newegg or Foxconn. I'm probably going to have to underclock it as my final step since I've tried about 5-6 driver releases, adding tons and tons of cooling to keep the card in the 60's load temperature and ensuring my games are fully patched.
I hate to have to report bad info on a product, but if I could make a recommendation to those of you out there who are still on the fence, get an EVGA or BFG model. I will probably not buy from Foxconn again in the future. And I will also begin waiting a solid 4 weeks before writing reviews in the future, so I apologize for the "double-post"
