5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: Installed in a HP-Compaq dc7600 CMT computer running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 Bit. Card installed effortlessly, recognized by W7, and drivers installed automatically. I didn't even have to use the supplied driver disk. I ran the card for over an hour and tested both the analog and digital outputs. Both worked just fine. The W7 experience scores were: Desktop performance for Aero = 3.3. This was a bit lower than I expected but no big deal. The good news is the 3D Business and Gaming graphics score was a 5.2. Since I won't be using this PC for playing anything more than the games bundled with W7 and maybe some internet games, this will suffice just fine. I put my hand on the heat sink and it was very cool to the touch. Not that I was taxing the card any but like I wrote, I am just going to use it for office applications, e-mail and internet surfing. This was a great deal for the price. It seems very well built. Heat sink on tight. New Egg is the best! Fast, free 3 day UPS shipping.

Cons: None at this time

Other Thoughts: I wish I had brought this outright. Initally bought used ATI X1300 256MB card on online auction site because that card was supported on the dc7600. Card I received from seller was DOA, and I had to return it. Took a chance and bought the Sparkle card, and I couldn't be happier

5 out of 5 eggsGeForce 8400GS

Pros: -Very simple upgrade
-Fast shipping (1 day when I bought the 3 day delivery)
-came with everything it said it would

Cons: -Not the best card (but worth every penny)
-The brackets that came with the video card do not fit. They include an S-video when the card doesn't support it
-blocks the pci slot below (had to rearrange everything)

Other Thoughts: This is more for people who want a up to date video card. if you are a gamer or movie editor, etc. then choice something higher. I suggest 1GB of video memory. Soon, this video card will be the bare minimum to run any program.

5 out of 5 eggsgood value

Pros: card was passive as advertised, dunno if the other reviewer got the wrong card or what. I run warcraft at medium high settings with and average of 30fps. Worst ive seen in the laggiest of areas is 20fps. card has been very stable so far.

For those of you on a tight budget as i am and cant afford to shell out big bucks, this card is an excellent buy.

Cons: as other reviewers have stated, the heatsink did block my next slot down but again its not advertised as low profile and im not using that slot anyways

5 out of 5 eggs8400 yes's

Pros: Was shipped to my house within three days, and was received well wrapped, well bubbled, and box was as clean and new as the factory. (Ah the smell of new hardware.) But to the meat of it:

This particular 8400 GS from Sparkle came as it is labeled, a passive graphics card, and stays at a balmy 60C consistently, Onboard graphics and this card have nothing in common, in the same manner that those who live by the sword are shot by those who don't. I can play Civilization 4, Supreme Commander, and Oblivion with good framerates at 1024x768, if you are a standard home user this would be about as much as you could possibly need for a long time. Windows 7 loves the extra power, and windows Media player's visualizations don't lag anymore. (Comming from an intel gma950, differences are strong, as well as the jump from a CRT monitor to an LCD monitor.)

Cons: Didn't come with a bigger box? Sparkle isn't too well known? Didn't get here in two days? I'm drawing from a shallow well here guys.

The card does run at that warm 60C and is passive so extra fans may be in order if you have a small case, or an already warm one.

Other Thoughts: This card is a low profile card, with the DVI being dominant as the output, it is warm, but not warm enough that I wouldn't consider putting it into an HTPC, I may just wind up buying two more to have on hand, the differences are worth the trouble. (and for 28 bones plus free shipping, not all that expensive either.)

5 out of 5 eggsPerfectly good budget card

Pros: -Cheap
-Working great so far
-Nvidia driver support for Ubuntu

Cons: The heat sink blocks the next card slot down on my MB. Doesn't loose an egg because it's not supposed to be low profile and I'm not using that slot anyways, just something to keep in mind

Other Thoughts: Other reviews reported getting a card with a heat sink fan, the card I received was exactly as advertised.

1 out of 5 eggsAlso disappointed with this card...

Coming Soon!

Pros: Newegg customer service was very gracious about my return request. They agreed to refund my $$$ (purchase price+shipping+rush handling fee) as well as to pay the return shipping. Only cost me time and gas to get to UPS.

Cons: I'm sure the card is fine, but this one has a very thin heatsink and a cheap fan despite the fact that it is advertised as a "Passive GeForce 8400 GS." Product is clearly not passively cooled. My experience with similar looking fans is that they last a few months, and then get noisy before they stop working all together. My other problem with this card is that the HS that it comes with it is very thin and light-weight in comparison to the HS that came on the PCI version of this card which I also purchased from Newegg; I am very happy with it. I just wanted the same thing in a PCI-E 16x interface but this isn't it :(

Other Thoughts: I uploaded a video showing the HSF on this card. You might not care that it looks very thin and I might be wrong about the durability/longevity of the fan. You can see it and make the call for yourself.

I hope Newegg can update the product pics/description of this item so future customers don't get disappointed when they open the box.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Card was DOA, so I can't list any Pros

Cons: Card was DOA

Other Thoughts: The card here was listed as a fanless card, but I received a card with a fan. Card would not allow two machines to boot. Returned quickly and had to swallow the shipping charges.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent card on Linux

Pros: Works very well with Linux.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: I was reluctant to get Sparkle, since it's an unknown name to me, and also had no reviews. But I was pleasantly surprised.

It installed well on Ubuntu 32/64 bit. I tested it on both 8.04 and 8.10. After being prompted to installed the special linux drivers, it ran all the compiz stuff I threw at it like a champ.

My only regret is that I didn't get the 1 gb version for an extra $20.

I haven't tested it on Windows, and probably never will, so I can't comment on that.

My specs:

- Western Digital Raptor WD740ADFD 74GB 10000 RPM SATA
- 4GB Kingston HyperX 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
- AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor Dual-Core - ADX6000CZBOX
- Epox EP-MF570SLI AM2 Motherboard
