4 out of 5 eggsExcellent when liquid cooled

Pros: Excellent card with support for SolidWorks 2014. After liquid cooling with a Corsair H75, the card idles at 45 C with dual monitors and never goes above 50 C when playing games like Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Starcraft 2, and Divinity: Original Sin, on max settings. I consider this to be excellent performance because the thermal conditions are optimal, even under full load.

Cons: The heat sink (shame on whoever designed that thing). Initially, I thought this card could not handle games very well since I had to play Starcraft 2 and just about everything else on low settings because the card would heat up to at least 90 C. At idle, temperatures were around 67 C with a single monitor, and close to 80 C with dual monitors. I felt this could be fixed with a simple AIO liquid cooling system from Corsair. I use the H75 with a custom bracket I designed using this card, SolidWorks, and my MakerBot 2X. To be honest, this card should have been liquid cooled from the beginning. The factory heat sink is just awful and, if you remove it, you'll see that the GPU and the VRAM share the same copper block, effectively overheating the VRAM because the fan system cannot dissipate heat fast enough. Minus one egg for a very poorly designed heat sink.

Other Thoughts: I got this card refurbished from NewEgg for Christmas from my family last year so I've had it for over seven months now. The refurbished product didn't come with software, cables, or anything. It did, however, come with a metal back plate. Of which I no longer use, since the card is liquid cooled.

Many people comment on how expensive this, and other cards like it, are. The reason is that the card needs to have specific certifications from a lot of different companies (because there are many who produce CAD software). This process tends to be very expensive. Also, the people who are usually looking for this type of card is someone who uses CAD software to create things and make money off of it. For the same reason, CAD software also seems unbelievably expensive.

4 out of 5 eggsworks well in win 8.1

Pros: single slot, great design, huge packpane heatsink, amd ati autodetect drivers, 4 display ports

Cons: handle in a bad place for even big cases like the haf-x 942. I had to cut off the handle with a dremel. fit after that. no direct support for 4k monitors.

Other Thoughts: only 2gb but for what it is, if you can get one second hand, it is worth it, otherwise, get two newer gen game cards for everything else. nvidia or ati. this is very 'pro' priced.

1 out of 5 eggsWorthless

Pros: Looks really nice, and performance was awesome when it wanted to work.

Cons: Not Windows 8.1 compatible, they supposedly have the drives that will allow it to work with Windows 8.1 but the drovers don't work. Tried with a single card and with dual cards and with each configuration the systems completely froze, nothing responding at all. It works for about an hour with the version 13 drivers and then freezes again. Had to hard reset the system to get it going again.

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money on this card if you are planning to upgrade to windows 8.1

5 out of 5 eggsBEAST

Pros: Full-speed real-time viewport rendering performance on multiple monitors. What's not to like.

Cons: Overpriced hardware when you really look into the specs

Other Thoughts: Good, stable drivers. Great for complex CAD models and simulation programs such as Demo3D. Great for animation, too.

5 out of 5 eggsWow

Pros: Fast, robust, quiet, small footprint, heaps of memory, killer performance with 3D and CAD applications.

Cons: Finding the right driver is essential.

Other Thoughts: OK, I'll admit that I have been a huge ATI hater for years. Purchased this card to replace a Quadro in my workstation and wow, this card is awesome. I run a 3D scanning company and have to deal with huge point clouds and very dense polygon data and this card can cope with everything we throw at it with no problems. I run a wide variety of 3D software including Softimage, Max, ZBrush... you name it and I've had no problems at all with this card. This card smokes my old Quadro and I don't miss it at all. I'm really happy with this card so far and it's changed my mind about AMD/ATI -- this thing is pretty sweet!

5 out of 5 eggsDoes it come with a case badge?

Pros: Just wondering if anyone out there who bought it knows, did it come with a case badge. At 700$ I would think it should have, but still need to know.

Cons: Just wondering if anyone out there who bought it knows, did it come with a case badge. At 700$ I would think it should have, but still need to know.

1 out of 5 eggsdissapointed and had to RMA

Pros: Maya 2012's viewport 2.0 gets fast navigation (2 mil poly object tested) with the exception of visual artifacts with wireframes and component selection.
Mudbox performance(6mil poly sculpt) is slightly faster most of the time but see cons.

Cons: Regular viewport on Maya 2012 and some earlier versions are slower than my GTX 470 card. I get around 7-10 fps with V7900 on maya viewport with models around 200k triangles. With GTX 470 I get around 35-50fps. Selecting/deselecting objects is laggy.
Wireframe on shaded mode is super slow.

These issues makes the V7900 card USELESS for 90% of my work. Viewport2.0 is only good for showcasing and not for regular 3d modeling. My GTX 470 out performs this card on regular viewport.

Mudbox performance slows down drastically often. Brush strokes are sometimes laggy.

Max performance is slower than with GTX card.

DO NOT BUY this card if you are a 3d modeler and use the softwares I listed below. Get a high end gaming card instead.

Bad packaging, no detailed booklet or specifications.

I know this is a "pro" card but I am a game developer and games dont play well as expected. L4d2, Crysis, Portal2, MW3 etc runs slow and some of them even froze up windows and I had to hard reboot.

Other Thoughts: I sent this back for RMA with a re-stocking fee of ~$100.
I bought this thinking it would be a boost to my 3d workstation which currently has a Geforce GTX 470.
May be I will get a newer GTX card later since these gaming cards seem to out perform these so called "professional workstation" cards in 90% of the cases.

Softwares I use are:

Maya2012, Max2012, Mudbox2012 and PhotoshopCS5

System Spec:

i7 3770k
16gb ram
windows7 64bit
SSD boot

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Performance and Compatibility!

Pros: This card was an amazing upgrade from the stock dell card i had in here originally. Performance....AMAZING! Runs Auto Cad like a pro! I am extremely pleased with the two cards that i purchased and am going to get this card in my next workstation computer I order. If you are debating whether to buy this card or another, go with this card. Great bang for the money spend on the card.

Cons: No cons, doubt there will ever be any. Always had great luck with ATI/AMD cards.

Other Thoughts: Would recommend this to anyone.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent workstation card

Pros: I do 2D and 3D illustration and animation, and this card handles it all without breaking a sweat.

After doing some research and hearing some stories about Quadros and multiple monitor setups, I decided to go with the FirePro. I switched to a custom built PC workstation after about a decade of using Macs, and have to say that this card makes it as easy to use multiple monitors as on Macs. I have 3 monitors and it handles them all flawlessly, all using displayports. (It includes four single-link DVI adapters too.) Can arrange them any way you like, no matter what port they're attached to, drivers handle it all.

Also, I heard a lot of negative feedback about ATI/AMD cards and 3D packages compared to Quadros. I have no idea what those folks are talking about, I've not had a single issue in Maya or Houdini. AMD has been apparently working on their drivers with this past GPU generation, and it must be working. I couldn't be happier.

Cons: Barely many.

Documentation is a little sparse. AMD must be still transitioning to the new generation GPUs. Most documentation on their site relates to the ATI series of cards. I specifically wanted information on Crossfire setups, and it was all about the older cards. (If you have the PCIe lanes, they can support up to four. They all need x16 each.)

While super-quiet under normal operation, when it's under heavy load it's super loud. However, I only did this during a stress test. Under normal operation, I haven't stressed it out.

Other Thoughts: One of the reasons I opted for the this card is the Crossfire capability for future expansion. Using it for awhile however, I'm not sure I'd even need a another one! But, the option is there!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card

Pros: Switching from consumer card to this workstation graphic card is all beneficiary. I can work better and be more detail oriented than before.
The fact this card support 4 displays and comes with 4 mini to DVI is a real treat for my workflow. I own 3 screens and consider a 4th screen in a few months.
This card is fantastic to crunch and display smoothly massive amount of polygons while the fan noise level is really low. The color temperature displayed are the best I have ever felt.
If you are looking for a card to work on games development and more then look no further, this card is absolutely for you. Its potential and capability are outstanding.
The V7900 is fully compatible with PCIe 1.0 motherboard , that is what I use at the moment.

Cons: None I could find. This card seems expensive but what you can do with that card is completely worth it!

Other Thoughts: EVGA NFK122-68 680 SLI
Kingston PC8500 4+2 gigs
ATI V7900 plugged into a PCIe 1.0
Thermaltake Toughpower 700 Watts
LG 22 inche Flatron Wide 1680*1050
Wacom Cyntiq 21UX 1600*1200
Samsung 23 inch 3D capable 1680*1050 (I think)

Thanks Newegg the for prompt and fast delivery.
