5 out of 5 eggsGreat card. Price makes it an excellent buy

Pros: Yes, this card really is a rebadged HD 7950 running an updated BIOS. However this isn't a bad thing, and just like the 7950, this card overclocks astoundingly well. From the stock 940 MHz (Sapphire stock that is, AMD reference stock is 850 Mhz) i was able to lift the core frequency into the 1100+ MHz range with only a slight voltage increase, and the memory frequency could be pushed into the 1600+ Mhz range with no visual artifacts appearing on the screen. Now i don't recommend overclocking if you're new to this and have no idea how to go about it as it is risky to push extra voltage into the core, or hike the frequencies past certain ranges; this paragraph is aimed at the person who wishes to squeeze even more performance out if this card. With a decent overclock, you can have a card that is on par with its big brother, the R9 280X and big bro's main rival over at the green camp, the GTX 770. While my overclocks are decent (and while i also don't recommend the overclocks in the next sentence since those people had to push their voltages to unsafely high amounts), i've seen some people manage to get their core into the 1250 MHz+ zone, and their memory clocks rocketed into the stratospheric 1700+ MHz range, so take this as a loose guide of what to expect when OCing this card.

As for gaming, it runs all my games at highest settings at pleasant frame rates, and the only time i noticed hiccuping when i ran Unigine Heaven simultaneously on two 1920 x 1080 monitors, but even then the lowest i saw during that grueling test was 25 FPS. The R9 280's opponent seems to be the GTX 760, and as most benchmarks have shown, the R9 280 comes out ahead in most non-Physx dependent games.

Cons: I guess the only thing i can whine about is that i found the exterior styling to be too bland and conservative for me, especially when compared to what the HIS, MSI, and Asus 280's look like, but for the price, getting the Sapphire made sense. And seriously, i won't care that much about something that will spend most of its time inside my computer case.

Also, this is a somewhat audible card, so don't expect ninja-silent gaming.

Other Thoughts: It's a 10.5 inch card. It fit easily into my microATX case, but it's always wise to measure the amount of space you have ahead of your PCIe x16 port before buying a video card.

5 out of 5 eggsMagnificent

Pros: Beautiful card especially for the price! (got mine for around 200 right after the coin mining boom died down) Plays Shadow of Mordor maxed out at 1080p at well over 60fps (didn't bench it), Install the punishing HD texture pack and with a couple tweaks and it still runs great on ultra/1080p. Fans are whisper quiet, I've never managed to hear them. And the heatsink is so well designed I went to dust it after 5 months and to my surprise it barely accumated any! Compare that to my CPU fan which gets a fur coat every 2 months. Low maintenance, Low Noise, Serious power. AMD has won back my business from the green team!

Cons: Power consumption is high, over 200 watts actual draw during peak performance. It's basically a re-badged 7950, which isn't much of a con since the 7950 was also an amazing card

Other Thoughts: Too bad the 3 free game downloads were lousy choices...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Very fast card, runs every game max settings, quiet fans and stays cool, easy installation, very fast shipping.

Cons: Didn't come with good instructions, and not many videos online, but installation was still fairly straightforward
Doesn't have a VGA port, only a DVI, an HDMI, and something else.

Other Thoughts: My monitor only has a VGA port, So I had to wait 6 days for an adapter to come in before I could actually use the card. Still giving 5 eggs because what's a great card at the cost of a little initial inconvenience?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card for the price

Pros: This card is very good for the price. it's slightly better than the gtx 760 and on average about 30 dollars cheaper. This card will run all current games at decent framerates 40-60fps as long as you aren't going to go over 1080p. You can run just about anything on high to ultra at 1080p no problem. The weird thing about this card is that amd doesn't seem to be very proud of it they really want you to get the 270x or the 280x. The 280 did not get much in the way of publicity. That aside this card is in my opinion the perfect mid range graphics card. It runs quiet and cool (never gets above 55c for me), and can handle just about anything you throw at it.

Here's my setup

i5 4690k
gigabyte gaming 3 mobo
8gb corsair ram
650w psu
this graphics card, duh, idiot.
benq 1080p led monitor
1tb seagate HDD
corsair H60 cpu cooler

Cons: not a con for me but I wouldn't reccomend this card if your monitor is 1440 or especially 4k, this isn't the card for you.

1 out of 5 eggsWARNING

Pros: none

Cons: dont know where to start with this one but avoid like the plague. nothing but issues and 8.1. keeps crashing even basic functions never mind games. Rebuilt pc twice with same issues happening, either app errors or app/games cant access card. only thing that works is OS. latest drivers, latest bios, etc. brand new system build

5 out of 5 eggsULTRA

Pros: Runs every game I have on max settings, it runs super cool in my case, this is not a power hungry card, it was drawing under a volt from the PSU, Do not worry about running BF4 on ultra, this card can handle it.
The fans go SILENT when the card is not under load.

Cons: The fans do spin kind of loud but I do not care because I have a headset on while gaming.

Other Thoughts: I am just really happy with this card, it shipped fast, it was easy to install and there was nothing wrong with it out of the box, I am happy I made the decision to go with this card after months of planning this build.

5 out of 5 eggsOverclocking

Pros: I just wanted to update my review some of the card.. I was wrong about Mantle support as it does have it but the driver on the CD didn't have it for me.. once I downloaded Cat 14.4 I had it in BF4.

Now for the overclocking i'm using Trixx and made my own fan profile and all I had to do was set board power to 20% and I pushed the clocks to 1106Mhz gpu and 1503Mhz ram and it is stable.. may go higher as I don't know but I have a 950watt Corsair power supply so it got good power and it does crossfire with my HD7950 Boost.

Cons: it!!
