3 out of 5 eggsFaulty

Pros: Ran Fear good. FPS when it worked on a program i got from the internet was around 800

Cons: I should have known the day i put it in and got a BSoD several times and then over the next few weeks. That it was the video card.

Other Thoughts: When it felt like working it was a good card. Multiple crashes system lock ups and some Bsods. Cost me nearly another 200 dollars taking it to a pc shop to run diagnostics on it only to come back to tell me that the gpu was bad. Pc repairman told me that there has been a recent wave of bad Nvidia cards some of the 7 and 9 series cards. Decided to go with ATI as a replacement to this hopefully it fairs better.

Manufacturer Response:

Sorry to hear you've had problems.

We will be happy to replace this card for you. Simply fill out the RMA form at to get that done. No worries about the barcode, we don't require that.

5 out of 5 eggscompletely awsome

Pros: Got this card in today and it is the best card ive ever had, i just upgraded from the 8600GT 512 ddr2 and it blows it away. after doing some research i choose this over the 9800GTX im glad i did.

Cons: not realy a con but it can get little hot, just find out how to set the fan speed and youll be set.

Other Thoughts: =) ide recomend this card over the 9800GTX

Manufacturer Response:

Thanks for buying a Palit card!

The 4850 definitely runs hotter than the 8600. You should be seeing temps of about 50C-55C at idle.

You can also use the included VDOTool or any of the third party apps to increase the fan speed and get your temps down further than default.

2 out of 5 eggsDidn't work for me

Pros: nice price, lovely heatsinks

Cons: Would not work in my system. I have an Asus P5Q and a Hanns.G HW223, and after windows splash screen, the display goes blank. This is a known issue with 4850/4870 cards, and a lot of people in the ATI forum using Hanns.G or Viewsonic monitors. This only happens using a dvi connection. The workaround is to use vga port on monitor with the adapter. I think you can also use HDMI if you have that available. I do not.

Other Thoughts: I had high hopes for this card. Never thought a problem like this could happen. Should have been caught in testing before release. This was my first ever ATI card, and problably my last. I returned mine, as this workaround is unacceptable. I am not willing to wait around until ATI fixes this bug.
This card not even listed on Palit's website. What's up with that?
