4 out of 5 eggsGood Product

Pros: Tuner worked great, it picked up over the air channels just like my TV did.

Cons: Not really a Con, more of a warning: If you plan to connect a VCR, or DVD player to it, make sure to turn off the Time shifting feature.

Other Thoughts: When I first connected it, I had the antenna right on top of my computer, and the signal was terrible. I moves the antenna away from the computer, and the signal got a lot better. I plugged it into my laptop, and the signal was fine.

1 out of 5 eggsI have windows vista

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Pay for what you get. I cannot get it to detect any channels. ADS makes themselves very hard to get a hold of. No contact info on their website. I found phone # on package box but kept getting voicemail telling me to call back in 30 minutes. (who has time to do that). Website is hard to navigate through. They say it is Vista friendly but do not provide instructions on how to set it up if you do have windows. I cannot get it to work so therefore cannot tell you the quality of the picture. I have spent hours trying to get answers on how to get it set up and not been able find anything.

Other Thoughts: Maybe it works for some people. Not for me. And what makes me mad is that there is no simple way to get answers to solve the problem. I will be sending mine back for a refund.

3 out of 5 eggsADS Support

Pros: Tuner has a nice picture, the cost is a good point.

Cons: ADS "support" flat out stinks. The tuner's proprietary software is utter junk. Their EPG doesn't even work.

The tuner doesn't play well with Vista MCE, and I had to figure out ways on my own to get some aspects of that to work. Still have an issue with DRM rights to even WATCH a DRM enabled program. Don't even bother with ADS support...they have no clue and will tell you every time that they can't duplicate the problem on their machines,or just don't know. Pathetic.

Other Thoughts: I'll figure out how to resolve the issues...on my own, and that's bull. Part of the price is for support.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat little device, strange software

Pros: Took the tuner out of the box, and was watching TV in about 15 minutes. I get 3 more broadcast channels than I did on the TV, and it looks better on my monitor. It's not a 5 star product, and probably wasn't meant to be. It's cheap and does the job. Couldn't be happier.

Cons: The software to install the drivers and application(s) is really bad. I couldn't install the drivers using the software on the CD, so I plugged in the device and followed the Windows prompt to Add New Hardware, and it failed the first time. I removed the hardware, and did it again and it worked fine.

Another drawback is that sometimes when reception is poor (when it rains where I live) and you go to a channel that doesn't come in well, the speakers get static sounds that kind of suck until you adjust the antenna.

Other Thoughts: I have this attached to my laptop, which is connected to my 22" widescreen. Figured why bother own a TV anymore. Even just picking up broadcast TV, it looks great on the monitor -- not all channels look great, but they all look better than it did on the old TV.

It doesn't come with a remote control, which is fine -- I didn't want one, since I'd prefer to use the wireless keyboard and mouse. But the command to change channels [Ctrl + Shift + K/L] is rather odd and awkward.

The device is a bit too big to plug directly into the side of the laptop, but it came with a usb extender, which fits very snug to the tuner. The other cable goes in the back of the tuner, also very snug, and then connects to the coax. I move the antenna around a lot to get better reception, and haven't yet pulled it out of the device or usb port. That's cool.

4 out of 5 eggsGood but not great...

Pros: Relatively cheap, you don't have to open your case, software works great, you can use it with laptops, and compact.

Cons: The picture quality is fuzzy, but definitely watchable, and is the main reason I'm giving it a 4 rating. Also the connection for the RF cable falls out very easily but won't be a problem if you keep it still.

Other Thoughts: I'm very happy with it. Haven't had any problems with sound.
