5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Piece of Hardware

Pros: Used this thing to get television on my CRT.
Was high definition before High definition existed.
Great price too!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Outdated now, but this was a heavy duty piece back when LCD and Plasma's were hundreds of dollars.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes the job...

Pros: 1. Easy to setup
2. Does what it claims
3. Makes my PS2 playable again

Cons: Don't lose the cables that come with this as the addapters and plugs are not easy to find anywhere.

Other Thoughts: I have decided that for entertainment I no longer need a Television for the rest of my life. In it's place I use computer screens (viewsonic 1912wb 1440x900). I wanted to play some lego starwars and my monitor didn't have the RCA inputs that the PS2 required. Rather than drop the cash to buy a TV this little device has given me a convient computer upgrade. Like another reviewer, I am running this box to the VGA input on my monitor and using DVI to my PC. Works like a dream for my cheap entertainment needs.

3 out of 5 eggsTV only, and yes I'm serious.

Pros: Way cheaper than an actual LCD TV, its small enough that I just stuck it between two consoles and it does come with a stand. Its perfectly fine for TV watching, the NTSC signals may look iffy at times but any LCD TV that you pay twice as much for WILL DO THE SAME.

Cons: Do not get for consoles, thats half the reason I got this and I just had a feeling I wouldn't be using it for inputs very long... but I did it anyway. It really is unbearable, 4:3 480p (aka standard TV) looks better than the HDTV inputs at 720p, 1080p, couldn't try 1080i as my stupid monitor doesn't support it for some reason and that doesn't make sense if it can do 1080p... but thats not KWORLD's fault that my monitor is dumb, so who knows maybe the 1080i is the only good looking HD mode on the box and I'm just unfourtnate?

Other Thoughts: If you want a cheap LCD TV go for it. Don't expect anything impressive let alone bearable to come out of the inputs. I'm guessing when half the people say it looks terrible, and the other half says it looks good, its just really something to think twice about before buying. If I didn't have a use for the tuner in it I would have returned it (I Like having two TV's in my bedroom without two actual TV's).

3 out of 5 eggsLiked it at first, now, im about to put it back in its box

Pros: 1080i, 720p, 480i/p inputs to turn your lcd into a quazi hdtv. supports 1400x900, and can size a 4:3 with black bars on the sides so no distortion.
Remote control, sound control,
Color controls.
Cheap!

Cons: The only good input for quality is the component inputs. These allow you to produce hd signals to your lcd through the box. The only problem with mine is that i get a really strange interfernce with the component cables, wether it be ps2 or a dvd player. I noticed that if i run my dvd player at 480p, it doesn't produce AS MUCH interference and it is watachable.

With ps2 however, only a handful of games support hd output, so most games look aweful on it. Another thing, is that ps2 will not stretch the full monitor, it gets black bars on top and bottom.

Other Thoughts: Don't even think about buying this for your xbox 360. I use a VGA cable that can be bought for cheaper and hooks right into an lcd and produced the best picture possible. Out of curiousity i tried the box with 360 in 720p and 1080i, and both looked rather blurry and extremely slow response rate on 60 fps games. I know the box says great for 360 and ps3, but it really isn't.

5 out of 5 eggs720p,1080i on a 150 buck monitor

Pros: 1)turns my Acer AL1916W 19" WS monitor into a decent HDTV
2)Plays well with my Philips 1080i upconvert DVD player
3)can still use the monitor on my second system (monitor pass-thru included)
4)picture looks very good playing cable HD content

Cons: 1)no HDMI, but YPbPr looks pretty good
2)have to change adapter cables when changing source types (I use a video switch box, no worries there)
3)no ability to turn off monitor with the included remote.
4)Does not do 1200 X 1600 on bigger monitors
5)monitor pass-thru cable is very short.

Other Thoughts: SD content is a bit grainy, but still very watchable. This is a great item if you have a extra WS monitor and want a small HDTV.

5 out of 5 eggsCan't be beat

Pros: 1) My old ATI TV Wonder PCI tuner card would lag between PS2 controller presses and the action appearing on-screen. With this, there's none of that. Perhaps I could buy a more expensive tuner card instead? Not for $60 I can't.

2) I have to have my PC turned on to use the tuner card. With this, there's none of that (which my wife loves because my PC is very loud with the dual 120mm fans). Perhaps I could build a quieter PC for $60? No.

3) My tuner card had poor resolution options (1024X768), and this thing improves on that by giving 1280x1024, with 4:3 full screen or 16:9 letter-box options. I'm sure there's better cards out there, but again--not for $60.

4) This turns your flat panel PC monitor into a flat panel television, which saves space and money. There are more expensive kinds of these devices out there, but don't waste your money--this is awesome. Cables included, too!

Cons: These shouldn't keep anyone from buying this--but beware:

1) Not HD compatible. Neither are my SNES, Dreamcast, PS2, or current monitor. It matters not.

2) Only has VGA output, not DVI. However, this works perfectly for me because my monitor has seperate inputs for VGA and DVI that I can switch between on the fly.

3) Poor built-in speaker...but consider this a video solution--not an audio solution. Still, I use headphones with this and it's so-so...the low wattage leads to less than desirable bass, but output the sound from the game conole to a receiver and that problem is solved.

Other Thoughts: Anyone looking for a better TV-to-VGA device will be looking forever and paying too much for whatever they find--at present, this thing is the best.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome! (updated from earlier)

Pros: Very inexpensive (I already meantioned this), composite quality is great, component 1080i (still haven't tested yet), high refresh rate is a very nice feature for crt's

Cons: so-so cable in quality, refresh rate while using pip is kinda low

Other Thoughts: I first ran my Kworld box with cable-in. It was hooked up to my digital cable box. As I mentioned in my earlier review, the picture was faded and the colors weren't aligned (at least, not for me). Well, I hooked it up using composite input (also known as RCA), and the picture is fantastic. It looks about the same as my old sony wega tv (thats a good thing). Not only that, but the 75hz makes a big difference compared to a standard 60hz. In short this screen actually out performs almost any tv out there. When you sit close to the screen, the only flaw is that you can see the conpression. This is actually a plus, as that means that the display setup is so clear, it actually displays imperfections in the signal. I can't wait to go to 720 and 1080. Awesome job kworld and newegg!

3 out of 5 eggsIt does ok,

Pros: I does all that is advertised, and I'm using Pic in pic as I type this.

Remote is nice, lots of options.

Cons: Bad idle Squeal,
Below perfect audio quality,
Very blurry screen at random times,
Video delay when using an external source,
No channel names,
Preview screen is not useful (and doesn't even start in PIP).

Other Thoughts: I would suggest taking it a step up from this, allowing for better external quality, and i regret ignoring HD.

5 out of 5 eggsBlown Away!

Pros: many features
very good quality
nice remote
built in speaker

Cons: scrolling through the menu is a little confusing but it is organized well

Other Thoughts: i am amazed by this product. i was wary of purchasing it becuase i had heard mixed things about it but it is incredible. it has so many features (picture in picture, freeze frame, timers, many settings), the quality is really good, it's simple to use, and you can hook up several different sources at once! it works great and it is so cheap considering. you must buy this

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: This does the job, and does it well. Standard cable looks as good as i could have hoped. Remember, cable is only 480i, but looks much better. Picture is great with any other video in (except maybe composite, which still looks good)

Cons: this is very picky, but when using cable, there is a very very faint whine from the speaker out, but only noticeable if there is no other sound playing.

Other Thoughts: this kind of tuner box is a great way to make use of old monitors. i just upgraded to a 22" wide from a 19", which just happens to be 1440x900, so the box supports the res perfectly
