5 out of 5 eggsSYBA-SD-PEX40035-PCIE-2 Cntrllr card

Pros: I was able to use my 2 PATA HDD'S, when there was no PATA sockets available. And so my thought and planning process of overcoming problem was correct and work out very nicely. I worked out very well and very fast in Win 7, 32-bit (also supports 64-bit) system.

Also, it is so very affordable when comparing to some prices of some motherboards, etc.

Cons: I have not found out one yet.

Other Thoughts: If you want to continue using PATA HDDs on new motherboards, you should use this controller card. It's very affordable.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Small.

has 2 sata III 6gbps connectors and an ide connector.

drivers are on the same page as the product on the syba website. google syba

works with hotswapping.

Cons: adds 5-10 seconds to boot time

Other Thoughts: I am not using this for RAID like many other users who have had problems. I am using it for a dvd drive and my main backup drive and it works great. I even tried hotswapping and that works great too.

I have yet to test the IDE port, just liked the feature as I felt it would help keep me backward compatible and future proof at the same time, in case I move to a new motherboard.

5 out of 5 eggsCustomer Support Very Helpful

Pros: Installed into Dell XPS 435T 9000 to add 2 SATA connections.

1st experience for me adding a controller card. Followed detailed installation guide - steps were correct. Sent email with screen shots of device manager to SybaUSA after install confirming the new settings in device manager. Support team replied within 4hr with confirmation.

Drivers on included disc were current - verified against driver web site referenced in installation guide.

Cons: None for me

Other Thoughts: RAID was not a factor for me - did not install RAID drivers.

Connected SanDisk Extreme SSD to this SATA card.

My Dell XPS is 2yr old with SATA II, Upgraded BIOS prior to install of Syba card & SSD. Now running Win8 Pro from the SSD. My SATA II mobo constrains the additional controller card from SATA III speeds, but that's ok for me - still a great value to enable the SSD install.

SybaUSA web site has a lot of reference info within User Forum.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value 6gbs RAID card

Pros: Great card if you are needing to upgrade an old board to have SATA 6gbs with RAID capabilities. Got this because it was the cheapest card on newegg that had such. Have not been disappointed.

Cons: Packaging had a picture of a different card on front. Had me worried for a second that I had been shipped the wrong item.

Other Thoughts: Does not come with 6gbs cables. Have bought cheaper controller cards in the past that did come with sata cables.

4 out of 5 eggsSo handy!

Pros: Overall functionality - giving me more SATA3's. I pulled out a SATA DVD burner, loaded in a trusty Pioneer IDE and this freed up a SATA3 slot on the MB. So I ended up with 3 extra SATA3's because this small add-on came with its own IDE.

Cons: Driver install unexpected because of 2 install-steps. The slot-cover didn't fit properly so a little finger-bending solved that. Tooless!!

Other Thoughts: I was surprised that the driver-install took two Device Manager entry updates. Unexpected. But it worked smoothly after that.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Experience

Pros: NONE

Cons: Would not properly seat in the computer it was needed in. It caused my $150 Video card to die. I am not a happy camper.

Other Thoughts: RMA, and you better be careful!

Manufacturer Response:

We can not emphase enough the the card needs to be firmly pressed into the slot. Otherwise it mat short out the circuit.

5 out of 5 eggsFeatures. Quality build. Compatible with legacy systems.

Pros: + bios bootable support = Enabled my Dell Precision 670 computer to use this card as a system OS boot drive.
+ built-in cpu ahci = This feature really help in my computer's setup. Having this on the SD-PEX40035 card bypasses the motherboard's IDE mode.
+ Marvell 9128 controller = Paired with Crucial M4 SSD 64gb with a Marvell controller, too. No issues & stable.
+ Raid 0/1 = Tested & installed Windows XP in Raid 1 mode. Need to take time to familiarize with its bios settings/setups. Hit CTRL-M for settings.
+ Go to stations-drivers to download latest drivers for 32-bit & 64-bit Windows. Latest driver dated 10/12/11 is running well & no compatibility issues.
+ Switched Windows 64-bit IDE mode to AHCI mode without errors. Search Google on how to do this.
+ Quality = Solid build quality. Limited lifetime warranty on parts.
+ Increased SATA bandwidth to 2.5 Gbps. Not the card's fault because my Dell Precision 670 only runs on pci-e x1 1.0 with 2.5 Gbps max. On par/close to SATA 2

Cons: - Adds 3 seconds to boot time to initialize drives
- Manual does not have full Raid 0/1 instructions. You must take time to study/play with it's settings/configurations.
- Raid 1 rebuild of a 20gb size hard drive took 50 minutes.

Other Thoughts: * You need to create a floppy disk for the driver to do a full install of 32-bit Windows XP.
* A smart & frugal way to have SATA III 5Gbps if you don't want to spend money on a new computer. Makes my legacy system viable for productivity use.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great After bios/firmware and driver update

Pros: Card works perfectly for my needs, Im using it for 2 optical drives(ide), 1 esata and 1 internal drive i use for backup, tho I may swap 2 500gb drives I have onto it in Raid mode.

I have a tip for all who buy this, visit http://www.station-drivers.com/page/marvell.htm for latist drivers and firmware(much newer then on the disk, and much much newer then whats offered direct from marvel.

Cons: had to update firmware and drivers myself because provided disk was useless.

Other Thoughts: When you get this card go to station-drivers.com/page/marvell.htm (hope newegg leaves this link, if not, just look for station-drivers marvell on google)

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT PURCHASE!

Pros: None.

Cons: Driver will not install for Standard HCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller. Documentation gives URL for updated driver. That drivers also will not install. Purchase card only if you enjoy frustration.

Other Thoughts: New Egg needs to look how it's customers rate this product. Half of the reviews rate this card unuseable! Please remove it from your sales line up.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,

We highly recommend our customers contact us via phone or email when any driver installation problems occur. In most cases, driver installation errors can be easily resolved by manually installing the driver from the driver CD.

What most likely happens, customers (or the Windows new device found auto detect interface) choose the wrong driver. Follow the path indicated on the user manual for the correct driver. Downloading the driver from our website will also work. However, the driver CD that comes in the package should be the first place to look for the driver.

We are more than willing to provide all of our customers with prompt exchanges whenever a product becomes defective.

SYBA offers an on-line RMA form, the user can easily fill out the form and submit for a quick RMA return and exchange. It is SYBA's policy to answer all customer inquiries within 24 hours (M-F)

2 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for

Pros: Simple installation for my use case, which is a non-raid implementation. Install load the driver and off you are. Works fine, doesn't take up much room on the mother board

Cons: When the operating system SATA drive is connected to this controller, the controller card causes the Windows 7 sleep mode not to function. Rather than going into sleep mode the PC will shutoff. Major liability for some. limited utility support and poor documentation.

Other Thoughts: Over all for the price point this is a good controller except if your Operating System needs to integrate to this card.
