5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: It works when driver cert enforcement is disabled. You may or may not have to do this manually on your particular system. I had to do it on mine.

Cons: See above. The troubles others have had are almost certainly a matter of driver cert enforcement.

Other Thoughts: Here's the deal: You installed it okay and Device Manager says it's working properly. But your connected device shows up in Device Manager with the dreaded yellow. Properties of the device says no drivers loaded. There's your tip-off.

Reboot and tap the F8 key repeatedly. Scroll down the startup options and disable Driver Certificate Enforcement. Okay, reboot.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not work with my system

Pros: inexpensive

Cons: I have a ASUSTeK Computer INC. M2N68-AM Plus Rev X.0x Motherboard with a rev 1 PCI-e setup. The x1 slot was not available and because the Rev1 x1 slot is offset the card would not fit the other slots. After talking with their support I removed the mounting bracket to have it fit into the x16 slot available. The system will not even start to boot with the card installed- a second of fan whir and it goes dark. They told me it was tested for all motherboards (but not mounted in the case so that is why the mounting bracket issue was unknown, but the card is not compatible with my computer. Since they want a restocking fee for a return I just set the card aside for using in another computer some time later and will look for a different card to expand with.

Other Thoughts: I am sure it is a good card for newer motherboards, but it is not as universal as I had hoped from the descriptions.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsSyba, how to get 5 eggs

Pros: Both IDE and SATA work very well but not without a lot of homework. Anyone out there with less experience with computers could have issues trying to figure out how to got both IDE and SATA to work. The SATA connections worked right after I loaded the standard drivers but I had to go to the web site and down load the second driver to get the IDE to work.

Unlike others that have complained, my card connected to my computer case with no problems.

Cons: Syba I know you have people reading this review site and this is what you must work on as a business to get good egg ratings.

1. Seal tape your boxes, this way as new owners we feel that we got something new and unused. This product was not supposed to be used or refurbished.

2. Do not mail your boxes with the look of being tampered with on the inside.

3. Make sure the driver disk is in the sleeve and not sitting out with dirty finger prints on the sleeve.

4. Make sure that everything that is on the inventory is in the box.

Your product is good you just need to work on product presentation.

Other Thoughts: This type of add on card can always be a pain to get to work in a persons computer. Lots of times it can be the motherboard and not the card at all. This is why good clear instructions is paramount to having happy costumers and will cut back on DOA's and RMA's.

For me I am very happy with the way the card is working but I am not happy with the way I got it. The driver disk sleeve looked like dirty little kids were playing with it and did not bother putting back the disk in the sleeve when they were done. But above all, seal your products boxes Syba.

1 out of 5 eggsVideo freezing when IDE plugged in, non-existent support

Pros: Worked fine for first few months. Easy to install.

Cons: Video started freezing after 3-4 months, time period after starting the computer was shorter and shorter. When I disconnected the IDE cable, it never froze. Tried 3 IDE cables and 4 IDE hard drives (all from working computers). When any IDE cable was plugged into any IDE hard drive, the video would freeze after a short period of time.

Contacted SYBA through their site, got automated response, then nothing. Have waited 3 weeks for response.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy it for the long haul or if you expect SYBA to give you any help if/when it fails

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,

Reply to our customer inquiries within 24 hours is our company policy, unless it is a holiday. If there is no reply within a reasonable time, please contact us by phone and we will make sure someone will talk to you and walk you through the problem you are having.

From your feedback, we learned that the problem only occurs after everything is running for a little while. The system will keep running if our card is in the slot, but not connected to an IDE device. The problem might be caused by the following:

1. Power. When you have an IDE device in use, the whole system's power becomes unstable and causes video to act funny.
2. Virus on your IDE HD
3. Overheating.
4. Bad IDE connector on our card

Please contact our technical support team again and we would like to find a solution for you.

Our technical support team is available to help 9am-5pm M-F. Feel free to contact us during those business hours at support@sybausa.com

We apologize for any issues that you are having. As you know we are more than happy to provide our customers with a hassle free exchange when a product is defective.

2 out of 5 eggsDriver Issues

Pros: Cheap cost for raid

Cons: Drivers on disk will not work for Windows 7. Loaded drivers on floppy and Windows 7 would not see drivers or load them.
Got drivers from Jmicron to support jmd36X and drivers loaded.

Other Thoughts: Will be a rough install for someone not experienced with driver issues

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,

We are sorry to hear of your trouble with a Syba product. Our card's drivers are compatible with Windows 7. However, It is possible that you received an outdated disk which did not include drivers for Windows 7. In this case you can download the drivers directly from our product website.

2 out of 5 eggsWhere is Driver Support?

Pros: Potentially very useful upgrade tool

Cons: Driver CD is just a folder system with no obvious answers. As others have posted before me, the website has drivers, but not PCIe IDE/SataII.

Other Thoughts: Customer support response time is 24hr, so we'll see what they come back with.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great, no issues

Pros: Simple installation, good price, works like I expected it to

Cons: None, so far.

Other Thoughts: So, I read all the reviews and was a little skittish, but I had none of the issues they had. Before I shut my box down, I downloaded the current driver from the Sybausa site. After installing the card and connecting it to my old drive, I booted it up. I ran the Setup file I downloaded and my PC rebooted and my HDD was accessible. I figured out the red light on the board is the HDD activity light.

It's nice to know I don't have to go out and buy another HDD right now. I can live with this one and another spare oldie I have until I can afford to buy a 1 or 2 TB drive. I actually like having multiple drives for storing different types of data.

Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3, i5 2500k 3.3, 8G ram, ancient ATX box that now runs way better than it looks...lol

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: After installing the driver CD it was as simple as inserting it into the pci slot and plugging in the hard drives. Another thing the bios feature is another pro about this product.

Cons: None I can think of at this point in time it has worked flaulessly.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this to anyone with extra hard drives laying around and need more storage space.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works great as advertised. Install was easy and didn't have any problems. Runs my older PATA HDD & DVD drives. A semi-rare card that's worthwhile to have for long-term storage devices.

Cons: None. Would be kinda cool if they put USB 3, eSATA, or firewire on the back too.

Other Thoughts: Biostar TA75M+
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
